Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thats quite alot of words of the day.

    Which one is official?

Anyways, I'm going for anteroventral. In a nice medical term.

If you find out the definition you'll see the innuendo *grin*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,330 ✭✭✭✭Amz

Well if my anatomy and medical knowledge, limited and all as it is, serves me correctly...

    *smiles approvingly*

The official word of the day is EVIL which somehow seems appropriate today given my current state of mind hehe!

The word of the day is contained in ecksor's signature and is updated along with this thread.

Ohh cool, I think I'll allow the word to inspire me, and then blame the internet for my crimes....

More onomatopoeia examples: Buzz or Ding

Onomatopoeia - Might be a good candidate for word of the day some time

    Sinople was suggested by Talliesin.

    Gradient, alabaster, chrysoprase, dirge :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,524 ✭✭✭✭Gordon

Sinople, dictionary.com contains two slightly different explanations.

-\Sin"o*ple\, n. (Min.) Ferruginous quartz, of a blood-red or brownish red color, sometimes with a tinge of yellow.
-\Sin"o*ple\, n. [F., fr. LL. sinopis. See Sinople a mineral.] (Her.) The tincture vert; green

So according to dictionary.com it is something that is reddy browny yellowy greeny. Otherwise known as Reddowbreen.

The odd contradictary definitions were part of the motive of the word being suggested I believe. Also, Talliesin offered it as his first 'Definition of the day'

    polychromaticzenamorphological ?

wouldnt it be better if you also linked to its definition (say, on Dictionary.com ?). Just a thought.

    My suggestions are:

    didactic
    emblem
    palindrome

    DeV.

Hence the Eiger Sanction, a strange enough film with Clint Eastwood and that big guy from the Naked Gun where an assassin has to climb some mountain to find out who is looking to take him out, iirc :)

    A proper noun though....
