Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For one day and one day only:

Driving through Dame court, do you recognise yourself in here?

I wouldn't risk it drive through there, seen to many fists and bottles landing on the roofs and bonnets  even taxi drivers are getting abuse in this spot

Isn't Dame Court pedestrian only between 19.00 and 06.00 7 days a week?

The really silly thing is that if they hadn't gone down Dame Court it would seem to be legal to access Dame Lane from Trinity Street

In fairness the moped driver had no intention of using it

I would have thought that mopeds weren't allowed to use it in any case as they are not bicycles

Which of the three red lights is hard to see?

i actually only saw one and that with difficulty, there's so much clutter there. I watched it around 10 times.

It appears his/her observation abilities are at an acceptable level for driving.

2 pedestrians knocked down at the crossing.

Excuse in the court room - "There was too much clutter".

I don't know whether this is a poor merge on the Merc drivers part, poor road design or poor driving on my part. Regardless, he seemed blissfully unaware.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,862 ✭✭✭✭inforfun

You didnt hit him so you werent that poor.

Designs like that are horrible because people dont seem to be capable to look in advance what they need to do in order to merge properly. Slow down a bit, speed up a bit. For them it is the poor soul already on the motorway who should accommodate them. Even when they cant.

Merc was up to speed to merge which is normally not the case. But he should have yield to traffic on this right.

Zip merging, traffic on lane one should leave a gap big enough to merge into, but these short merges are a nightmare for all as they force the merging car to get to a matching speed of the lane one traffic in a very short distance.
The merging car didn't speed up enough and the can car wasn't giving him any space - not until he realised he would crash if he didn't.

If you'd eased up a little to allow him merge, it wouldn't have got so close.

if the merc guy had put his foot down and closed up on the flatbed, as he should have, there would be no issue. It's his responsibility not the camcar driver

It is the responsibility of both drivers to ensure a safe merge, the merging driver must get up to speed and the driver on lane one must leave sufficient space to merge safely.

I hadn't actually realised it was a merging lane until we got quite close. I had thought it was its own lane. I'm not that much of a dick :)

    Cyclists with cans of Guinness

My cousin was caught drinking cans on his bicycle in the UK. Was fined and was banned from driving for two years. I wonder what will happen here..
