Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Really like the LAW but Agnew can be annoyingly rude to some of the callers, especially during title bout trivia.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Stopped listening to the LAW show a couple of weeks ago, I just don't enjoy Agnew acting as a mean radio character. I know wrestling can make you negative but good God everything's a slog and the stupidest/worst ever to him. They don't really bother talking up the highlights, it's just always geared so negatively.

Fill me in on that front.

Never took to that show as Jimmy's voice sounds like he smokes 60 a day.

Arda Ocal referred to in a tweet about aftermath being up in the air.something to do with the score TV being taken over I think.

Agnew on the law is annoying alright. Wai and john pollock On the other hand are very entertaining.

Could never listen to Review-a-wai with Pollock.

My friend John and I are gonna interview metal bands/possibly wrestlers, talk about wrestling & metal news, and get INCREDIBLY drunk in the process.

Oh and if you're in a band or maybe even a wrestler that wants to be interviewed or maybe just get drunk with us, email brian@neckbreaker dot net and we'll make it happen.

I'm guessing you don't plan on having CM Punk on your show anytime soon!

This forum has quite the love affair with the Attitude Era in general and some of us are fresh off WWE 13's Attitude Era mode's nostalgia buzz. Review a Wai review the Raw before Survivor Series 1997: http://fightnetwork.com/news/34519:review-a-wai-wwf-raw-is-war-nov.-3-1997/

Most analysis of that month gets bogged down by the Screwjob however there was a lot of other stuff going on. While the undercard of that period gets written off as trash. The podcast explores what was going on around that time in full in a really fresh and enlightening way.

They review Survivor Series 1997 this week.

    http://www.inyourheadonline.com/ has different interviews

Art of Wrestling is probably one of the best recent podcasts from the last couple of years http://tsmradio.com/coltcabana/

http://fightnetwork.com/ also do a monthly Japanese Audio wrestling which is pretty informative catch up on how Irish star Prince Devitt is getting on

I stumbled on MLW radio the other day with Iranian Tobacco Konnan which covers a lot of stories covering current news in wrestling with questions to Konnan about his wrestling career http://mlw.com/

I recognised Rovert on here reminded me of the WWR days and the wrestling show they had on annaliviafm every Saturday Are they still going?

Wai Ting and John Pollock are excellent, particularly Wai Ting.. Cannot get enough of their podcasts. Their non-wrestling talk is often just as interesting as their show reviews!

That said, I hate the LAW. Saying things like 'enquiring minds want to know..' and calling yourself 'The Mouth' doesn't make you cool - it makes you a dick. A picture of him, just confirmed it. Jason Agnew isn't much better.

Colt Cabana's Podcast is almost always great. Great guests, interesting questions and great audio quality.

MLW/The Konnan Show - This has to be themost entertaining Podcast out there - Konnan is the man.. HILARIOUS!

PW Torch Livecast - Enjoy Wade Kellers interviews (likes the sound of his own voice though) and don't mind Bruce Mitchell.. Everybody else on there is terrible though!

Can't believe anybody would recommend Don Tony and Kevin Castle.. I won't even start on them..

    Life is worth living again:

The good ship Joe vs the World returns, finally covering the year 1994 in the WWF. Joe and Justin hit it all, from wrestler's other jobs, porn is not an acceptable substitute for wrestling, whatever happened to Herb Kunze?, Vince on trial, the New Generation (and all the old guys who were there too), Backlund gets screwed again, trying to think up rhyming midget names, and the genesis of the Justin/Mabel feud. Plus, Justin rebooks Survivor Series 1990 with the current WWE roster! Over TWO (2!) HOURS of audio in the mighty JVSTW manner!

Neat, I've enjoyed the first few of those, they're super uncommon though, which is a nuisance.

The Backyard is being reviewed on this weeks episode of Review A Wai, should be good!
...I'm pretty sure John Pollock blew off my suggestion for them to review it two and a half years ago though, so he might have big issues with it. Could never pronounce my name either, fair enough there though.

Live audio wrestling is good but yeah Agnew is good in small doses he has put me off hanging up on some callers, but i could put up with him untill ..... he grew a mini me in John pollock who is sounds like a Jason Agnew Wanabe. He was cool when he was just himself.

Dan the mouth i could listen to all day. But yeah Jason Agnew is an utter fart.

Has anyone else listened to New Jack's AOW episode yet? What did you think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,121 ✭✭✭✭Jimmy Bottlehead

The same as most New Jack interviews.... the chap is extremely charming and charismatic, but has a serious edge of danger about him. Saying that, I'd imagine he's exaggerated a lot of things about his life.

i thought he was hilarious. Not what I was expecting. Ive never heard him in an interview before, only heard about the stabbing and the crazy. I was actually surprised to see his name on the list, but I gave it a listen and he kind of won me over, the ol rogue.

I was half expecting Drugged out "IMMA KILL SOME PEOPLE" New Jack, but it was quite good! Easily up there with Domino Cliff Compton and Luke Gallows as one of my favourite AOW guests!

Agreed! He bores the hell out of me.

I listened to the Queen of the Ring review again recently.. Definitely their funniest podcast that I've heard. Does anybody have any recommendations of similar shows from the archives?

Am I the only one who finds Chris Hardwick to be so annoying that the nerdist podcasts become unlistenable no matter how good the guest is. Apparently he's a comedian.

I think he's great. I was listening to nerdist before Punk was on because the guests and conversations are always relative to my interests. I marked out when I saw Punks name on the guest list!

I agree with Jason Agnew being an asshole to guests and gets impatient if a caller asks something they already said in the show if you're ringing in from Ireland @ 5am Irish time to ask a question you can be forgiven for not listening in live but ya I find John Pollock acts a bit different in the presence of Agnew I like him in Review a wai and does a good job when interviewing wrestlers but I think they should stand up to Agnew more he seems to be pushing his weight around a bit like he owns the show

can't stand the guy, not sure whether I find him incredibly overconfident or if his confidence is just greatly exaggerated in my mind by his blandness.
Been avoiding him for years at this stage though, so I could be way off.

Generally like Pollock, but it definitely is pretty pathetic when you hear him basically being Agnew's cheerleader.
Agnew is a bit overbearing, but fine enough for radio, I bet his own comedy show things are beyond awful though.

I really like konnan, podcast with Jericho was great asides from all the music stuff.

Listened to the Jonny Storm AOW at the weekend. Quite enjoyed it. Tomasso Ciampa this week.

I am new to this whole thing - what other ones do people recommend?

My goodness there's a serious list.

Edit: I began a list and got to 25 and stopped.

Some are really great, most are good and there is few iffy ones. Listen to all the shows in order or just pick your favourite wrestlers - Punk, Bryan etc first.

I'd avoid the one in Austin Texas and the Chuck Taylor ones recently speaking.

Cliff Compton and Luke Gallows are probably the best giggle.

Major, major fan of the series.

    • The old reliable Live Audio Wrestling podcast feed for Review A Wai primarily.
    • Wrestlespective is kind of a more intellectual perhaps pretentious :pac: version of Review A Wai. But Jason the host is a good dude who comes up with interesting shows and approaches.
    • Wrestling Culture I've mentioned before in this thread.
    • MLW Radio is fairly inconsistently quality wise but it is really good.
    • Ringbelles is a podcast about Women's Wrestling and you may not be a fan of it. But the hosts and the fact the women tend to be more interesting than most male indy workers as they have more outside interests makes it a favourite.
    • Interesting People Talk Wrestling is a new one that I like where the hosts finds celebrities and athletes to talk about Wrestling. Can be interesting
    • I subscribe currently to Wrestling Observer. PWTorch and PWInsider so most of my audio comes from that Wrestling wise. Thank good for 3x on my iPhone!

Not something we have discussed before but for podcasts Downcast is a ****ing amazing app.

No talk about how amazing and funny episode 3 of the Austin show was? Austin talking about exfoliating, manicures and pedicures.
