Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dublin Bus wifi

Can anyone help me figure this out? On every bus journey there is a strong wifi signal and it takes only a few seconds to connect.

However when I try to Sign In to the network, almost invariably I get a message that my connection is not private and I can go no further. I had assumed this was due to heavy usage on full buses. However today I was on a virtually empty bus and got the same.

    Any tips?

Its because you are accessing a https:// site and being redirected to the signin page which is not https://

    Try access a site that doesn't use https:// first, e.g. rte.ie

This will be the case on every bus/train with Fleetconnect, nothing to do with usage.

When it gives you the error message, go to the address bar and type in www.bbc.com.

It will then bring you to the Dublin bus wifi login.

I'm just following the link that appears on the Dublin Bus website. I'm not trying to access any other site.

Many sections of the dublinbus site are https://, same issue occurs

Just go to a non-https:// website and it'll redirect you to the Fleetconnect terms and conditions page fine.

Simple blunt answer, it's because the people responsible for CIE web sites don't care, and don't know how to provide a decent service to users.

I've been trying to get Bus Eireann to update their web site to get Google Maps working correctly for a number of months, but they don't even reply to mails, let alone fix the issues with the site.

Same sort of issues with Dublin Bus site, the Google Maps don't work because they won't pay for the licence, and it's very user unfriendly, I needed to work out how to get from O'Connell St to Charlestown a couple of weeks ago, and if you don't know the right stop number in O'Connell St, it's almost impossible to find out what service to use, and I know Dublin quite well, for a tourist with no real local knowledge, it's a disaster area.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

The Real Time Ireland app is pretty good. It won't plan your route but it has all the stops and the buses due at them.

This service is provided entirely by Fleetconnect...

True, the service is not the issue, the problem is with the out of date information provided on the Dublin Bus web site, some time ago, browsers were modified and now act in the way they do when connecting to a non secure site, and the error is not with the service provider, it is that the Dublin bus web site has not been updated to reflect the changes that have happened, and that IS the responsibility of the CIE group, who have made it very clear by their lack of response to other issues that they have no interest in resolving problems with their site that limit or block the functionality.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁
