If it's mostly families it'll be noisy, I emailed them and they said general camping was 1st come 1st served. They get back quick so drop them a line and let us know what they say.

cheers, i msged them and they did come back.......

I mixed up dates for this but now realise i can make it, My main focus is for my 11yr old daughter to have her first festival
(ill be at EP myself so ill have my fun there) may well bring my 15yr old son and my wife....my main concern is the behaviour in the general camping sites (i dont want to book boutique, too many bills and family holiday coming up) Will there be security monitoring the site, will there be quiet time? Ive been to EP for seven years and stay in Pink Moon, there is no way i would bring my kids to Kaleidoscope if the general camping will be anything like Hendrix or Wilde at EP ( lawless carnage!) thanks

Hi, we do not think this will be an issue at Kaleidoscope Festival as this is a festival purely marketed at families. I understand your concerns from the likes of EP festival, but we can assure you it will be a lot more relaxed than this. As this is a family festival we do not expect it to appeal to a party-goers crowd who would be likely to be causing trouble in the campsites. We will also have security patrolling the campsites at all times, especially at night time after 10pm when the main stage acts are over. The security will be sure to keep noise levels to a minimum throughout the night. Thanks and I hope this helps

Its good that this is what they are saying.... probably cannot shout it from the rooftop as it might put couples/groups without kids attending.

There are giving some form of day-by-day breakdown tomorrow. Do I gather from their reply, that everything will be finished up by 10pm? Suits me to the ground!

I'm sure I saw them subtly hinting that Squeeze might be added to the lineup on their Facebook post.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Is all over by 10 or just the main stage?

Wouldn't have thought enough bands announced yet for day by day? Maybe just headliners?

Response from kaleidoscope is that main stage finishes around 10 with smaller stages finishing at 12.

We will be two families attending the festival for the weekend. One family is in a caravan and one family is camping. From previous experience at other festivals do you think we will be able to socialise on the campsite or will we be kept separate at all times whilst in the campsite area?

its usually no problem moving between these .. however as this is so family oriented it might be a different.

I'd suggest contacting them on facebook.... while you're there ask them to add a rep to this thread lol.

Tickets bought after reading this thread, 1st festival in about 10 years and a 6 year old in tow - still looking forward to it big time.

Special thanks to fourmation for asking organisers a question I didn't even realise I desperately needed answered.

I did Just ask the first question and the answer is that there will be no issues with caravanners mooching in the camping area but may be more of an issue other way round as there is a different wristband for the caravan area.

Just me or did they really expect to sell out on the premise of being connected to EP..... and like now seem to be reacting to it.... offer on tickets.... and the lineup not being as high profile as I would have expected!

Not much 'international' bands on it - seems to be just Tom Odell - and looking at the daily lineups dont think they will add anything noteworthy at this stage! Also for 5-6 stages a day there seems to be lots of acts that do need to be added or announced!

Surely they should be looking at Newton Faulkner and legacy acts and then looking at Freya Ridings and young acts that wont cost a fortune but at least be names that you would recognise...

    Gonna be interesting few weeks

I'd buy a family ticket, but the caravan tickets are all sold out as are other camping options. Maybe their camp site is limiting sales?

We bought a family pass and its only me and my wife going - general camping will be fine for us!

Unless there is a significant amount more to be announced there will be large gaps in the music if there are 6 stages to fill for 3 days. However it appears the main stage is locked down so unlikely to be any more big names which is a bit of a let down given initial announcement of international and irish acts. From an irish perspective would be happy to see ham sandwich, the pale, colombia mills, swords, talos and swords added.

i asked yesterday if all the acts have been announced

    the reply...
Hi, most of our bigger acts have been announced, there may be a few more added to the line up

    pretty vague!

thats a no.... no more acts that would be classed as names!
Pretty disappointed with Imelda May being a headliner considering she really has done everything in Ireland - would have been much more eager with 2 door cinema club or something.

Pretty underwhelming lineup but will have fun regardless - Sunday looking like the best day IMO

Old age catching up with me. Clearly not affecting your eyesight stillill. You heading to kaleidoscope?

Unlike many festivals with better line ups, weather will make or break this due to number of families at it. Bar the frank and Walters and Gerry Whelan, I've never heard of any of those acts, all though the Missus has them all on a continuous Spotify loop on the Alexa in every room so I'm getting to know a few of them.

It's close to me and the kids would love it, Mucker. Funds tight at the moment but if there's still family tickets available closer to the date, I might go for it.
