Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Love this pic. Zoomed in it's otherworldly.
Is it a native plant? Some type of thistle?

Cheers, yeah worked out pretty well. Even since I have taken those shots, the cornflower has really caught up with the poppies and a lot of other stuff coming through, some of which I don't know what it is. Could be wild seed or maybe came in the bag.

Nature's Haven Wildflower Mix from Woodies, 3 bags. Think they're 1.5kg bags, €10 a pop.

There's a lot of flowers in here that I don't think came in the pack, just maybe grew from wild seed? Corncockle, dead nettle, others I haven't a clue.. large white flowers, red flower slightly smaller and deeper red than the poppy (closes in the evening) and some bell / funnel shaped white, purple and pink flowers. Maybe I should stick everything up on the ID thread? The packs that I sowed only indicated poppies, daisies, cornflower and corn marigold.

Is it too late to plant those seeds for this year?

As far as I know yes, too late. They should be planted in Spring for this season or Autumn for a head start for next season. As these are annuals, planting in Summer they might not get a chance to flower and go to seed and you may not see any back next year. I could be wrong.

This is the graphic on the back indicating when to sow.

Can’t take any credit for it but I grew some sunflowers from seed and this one is up at 5 feet 4 inches and hasn’t even begun to think about blooming yet :)
Gonna keep a close eye on this one.
The others aren’t far behind but how tall can these get? I forget which variety they are

Anything from 2 feet to 12 feet depending on variety.

If they are sunflowers if you plant them more densely they kind of support each other. If I am ever bothered to upload pics to boards I'll show you what I mean.

Posted in another thread but figured I'd throw them in here. This year's little project really starting to take shape.

Wall is there years and it was an overgrown mess a couple of months ago. Spent the last while cleaning it up into a shrub border.

    Before but after a strim:

    During:
    6034073

As of today with a few bits to be done in the next week:

That Alder hedge feels like it's on steroids. Clipped it back in winter and it's absolutely exploded again. It'll be getting obliterated in Feb..

So I seem to have a sunflower with two or three heads coming up under the main flower. Should I leave them be and see if they’d come through? Or will they even?

Don't think it really classifies as a garden'ing' photo but he did actually come out of the flowerbed behind him there :pac:

Curious fella yesterday morning. He wasn't fazed by me and hung around for 2 or 3 mins, pacing about, looked hungry.

Last night I left a bowl of cat food in the bed where he came out from. It was gone this morning. I'll have to dig out the trail cam.
