This thread badly needs updating as it appears that some cards that people used previously no longer work, ill be looking to book flights again soon and it'll kill me to yet again again pay booking fees so hoping that people can list cards that 100% work with Ryanair right now.

    Cheers:)

Dundrum card no longer works for any online purchases... :(:(:(
I bought one today, Won't work anywhere. I just saw they have one you can purchase for €5, i guess i'm going to have to get that.. Wouldn't be so annoyed if i didn't live so far from there..

..Or if i didn't realise i could've read this thread yesterday..

    Anyone know anything about these?
    http://www.mastercard.us/get-a-prepaid-card.html

Or is there such thing as a "digital" Mastercard? e.g. something i could transfer money to and receive a text or email with a card number and security number.. I've gone looking and it seems there is something close to it, but i can't figure out if i can transfer the money on my DSC card to a temporary online one..

You can get an account with a digital mastercard, but ryanair won't accept it. They are phasing out, if they haven't already what they consider to be "voucher cards" It has to be a "steady" card, not a changeable one. I've blogged about a good prepaid card if you wanna check it out, and you can also use it if you're under 21. You do get an ACTUAL card, that for all intents and purposes looks like a credit card, but it's prepaid. You can use it for everything, and you can generate a random number for online purchases (say for sites you're not too sure about, they don't get your details cos you change the virtual number every time you use it). Best thing about it is, is that's its free of admin and yearly charges. Anyway, check my blog if you want ;-)

That seems to be perfect for what i am looking for, Thanks, i signed up, just one small thing... I have €220 on my Dundrum Shopping Centre Card, and What i want to purchase costs €217.26

If i do manage to transfer money from my DSC card, to the virtual card, i will be charged 1.75%, Won't that put my purchase just out of my reach?

I'm not 100% sure if they'll accept the DSC, but they very well could, cos they will accept debit cards. They probably will charge you the 1.75% but you can top it up with some of their other payment options, try to choose one of their free options they have a few! Once your account is verified you're not limited to one payment option you can top up using any of them!

People people people, if you want a card that works with Ryanair look at the Moneybookers card. Its a tenner a year, once you go thru the identity verification process (takes 24-36hrs) then the card itself works like a dream.

It really is a breeze. Free to upload funds from your bank account or you can top up with a credit card for 1.9% which works out at €1.90 per €100 so feck all really.

    Highly recommended.

    is that in Swords?

How much did the card cost you and what are the fees?I'll have to be getting one of these cards soon.

I'm sick of giving these Ryanair c*nts money for booking fees, i fly that much that i estimate ive had to pay over €500 in booking fees alone since the start of 2010:mad:

edit - is this the card you mean?
    http://www.perfectcard.ie/index.html

Is this not the same one that a previous poster bought in Dundrum SC and tried to book flights without fees and it wouldn't work or am i mistaken?

    Cheers

Sorry, I'm only seeing this now.
I bought the card in Pavillions shopping centre in Swords at the Customer Service Desk. Its the same as the one on the link you posted but they have two cards , one is called the ''online'' card which can be used anywhere that accepts mastercard and you have to give your name and address when purchasing it. You can put any amount up to €1000 on it with a €5 loading fee which was great for me as I saved €130 in credit card charges. They other card they sell has Swords Pavillions printed on it and can only be used in the shopping centre. No information is required when buying this one.

I'm presuming Dundrum have done the same as Swords because I know they sell the online card too so You'll specify this is the card you want and not the regular Dundrum card

This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer's customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card. *

Just to confirm. I bought a Pavillions voucher in December to use on Ryanair. Tried to use on Monday, it wont work anymore. Rang Perfect card and they said the online facility was turned off at the weekend. Told me Swords would swop it for a perfectcard that works online if I wanted, I presume for no charge. Pain in the neck, this card was sold to me on the basis it worked on Ryanair.

Bought one of the online perfectcard cards recently in Dundrum and have used it on Ryanair , think I saved about €20 ( 2 adults on a return flight) in admin charges. Still have a balance on the card & used it again recently on Dealextreme with no problems. Not a bad saving

The girl on desk said the Dundrum card ( & I assume the other centre cards too) were set up for use in the centre & not online, and she recommended the online card. Hope this helps

Yep, Neteller! You have to verify your account with them too, you will need to scan both sides of your passport, give them a utililty bill, and if they need any further clarification that are a lot less snotty about the request than Moneybookers are. I like them a whole lot more than MB. I blogged about them (well it suits the blog that I do), and I put all the good stuff about them on that, they are also FREE, so no admin charge!

Recently purchased a gift card in Pavillion in Swords. I was wondering what the assisatant was on about saying they had a new card but I just bought the one that had worked for me before. I can see from previous posts now that they have obviously brought out one for online use and are cashing in by charging €5 for loading it. Luckily the one I bought worked and flights are booked already :D. A thing to watch in the future.

Just to add an update as to Prepaid Mastercards that still work (I was getting worried after reading updates here), I got a Dublin City Gift Card from Jervis St shopping centre yesterday and bought two Ryanair flights with no charges for the card, no admin fees from Ryanair and no problems. Still the best option for anybody living in Dublin IMO.

Yeah, you give them the money and they give you a card. If you don't use all the funds on the card you can transfer the balance to a new card. it takes a maximum of €150. You can check the balance online but not put more money on it.

In short yes. They have been phasing them out for the last while now. If you are going to use a prepaid mastercard they want you to use one with your name etc; on it! You're best bet is to get one that needs your details verifying, you can usually load them up online, or you can use 3V (expensive option).

Just reading some of the posts on here, it looks like it is the end of using the prepaid mastercard online - for Ryanair anyway. I have been using them for a while and was trying to book flights the past 3 days only to keep getting 'NOT CONFIRMED' or 'your process has been locked' - whatever that means??

I have the Dundrum Town Centre gift card which is linked to perfectcard. If anyone knows why this will not work in Ryanair anymore - please let us know.

Cheers in advance and isn't it just typical bloody ryanair!

I know I did post this in this thread before now, but Ryanair won't accept voucher prepaid cards anymore, they will accept the 3V vouchers, but personally I don't think they are worth it. They will only accept an actual physical card number so you're best bet is to get a proper prepaid mastercard with your name etc; on it!

Thanks RacaelVO, I did see your previous post, after I had posted, so apologies for that! I had to book on my visa and grudgingly pay the visa charges in the end!!!!!!!!! I don't understand how Ryanair can get away with it but they seem to get away with a lot!

    No problem ;)

The main reason as I understand it, and I might have this a bit wrong! Visa is going to be the most dominant processed card in Europe (which is why most laser cards in Ireland will be changed to a visa type card) and Ryanair are against this as it will mean an increase in credit card charges for retailers (all retailers) as you can imagine Visa would have to have offered something for that to be the case in the EU. So ryanair made a deal for prepaid mastercards. And as mastercard want to have registered users to claim that they are more vastly used, they don't want voucher cards being used for Ryanair.

It's something like that, like I said I my have some of it a bit wrong!

Cheers for the info! I live in hope that something good will happen with regards to the prepaid card situation! What is it with companies wanting to take on the world ha!

That's a relief to hear. Like I said earlier in the thread, I used the Dublin City card at the weekend and it worked perfectly too but reading the posts here I was starting to think I just got lucky or something. So the fact is that not all cards are being blocked.

AFAIK Ryanair have to offer an option that doesn't require the €10 admin fee in order to legally advertise the price of their flights without including the fee. At the moment that option is pre-paid Mastercard. They can't remove that option without replacing it with another one.

so, to confirm, as of now, the Dublin city card and the dundrum online card works fine?

I've been through the mill this weekend with this issue but thankfully it all worked out OK (eventually :)).

I tired to get a local Limerick version of this card on Saturday at the Crescent S.C. but thankfully the nice lady there told me that they'd changed their one recently and it would no longer works on Ryanair.
We decided then to try and get the Dundrum one and get the brother who lives in Dublin to pick it up and pass us on the details. To make it easy we decided to apply for it online with our CC details and email him the ref no to collect it. You're limited to €250 when you apply online but we needed €350 for family flights so we got charged €3.50 for each of 2 cards. When he went to collect them on Sunday morning they merged the balance onto 1 physical card.
However, we forgot to tell him that the card was for online use (I stupidly assumed it would be as I bought it online :o) and of course he was just given the Dundrum S.C. version. Ryanair's website of course wouldn't accept that version, the flights we wanted went up in price and we had to get him to go back to Dundrum on Sunday evening and change it, for which he was charged another €5 on top of the original €7 (all of this to try and save €50). When we did get the online version it now wouldn't cover the new price of the flights and we were still looking at a messy situation. Added to this we had 2 x €50 Ryanair vouchers that we could no longer retrieve after the first failed attempt to use the Dundrum card. Tearing our hair out at this stage :(. By now I was worried about the flight prices going up again and I wanted to just book it. I was going to take the hit of the ryanair admin charges, higher flight prices, €312 tied up in a card I couldn't get much immediate use out of, and ignore the missing vouchers for the time being. I took a deep breath and decided to wait and sort it out today. Which, for a rare occasion, worked out in my favour :D.

I rang Ryanair customer service this morning and explained my vouchers had evaporated. They took details of the flight I was trying to book and were able to offer it back to me at the original rates and I was able to use the online Dundrum card ok :p. Plus the brother had told me about a better agent to use when booking the accommodation in the meantime and I saved another €100 there :D.

In conclusion, the Crescent S.C. card no longer works, the online Dundrum one does and the Ryanair Customer Service people were actually ok. However make sure the card value covers the full flight costs, bags, etc and maybe allow a bit extra on it in case the costs go up. It also helps if you can use that extra bit in Dundrum at some stage if you have no other use for it.

Well done, Customer Service Pavillions Swords. Had 6 old perfect cards containing various amounts which were no good for Ryanair flights anymore. They took them all back and now I have 1 card with €178 on it which works on Ryanair. Only snag it cost me a fiver for the new card.

Thats strange, I recently went to swords and bought one of the cards and tried to part pay with my old pavillions card and the assistant said I could not use it . Ended up spending it in the shops on various items.

Guess it depends on who you get to talk to in customer services.

Dundrum have two different cards, the perfect card online card (costs €5) which works online & instore.

and the Dundrum Gift Card (also produced by Perfect Card) which used to work online but does NOT anymore. There was no charge to load these ones.

Update: I went down today with my old cards & the girl I was dealing with wasn't there. The guy on the desk said he couldn't transfer the old balances over that I had to purchase a brand new card & then he would transfer everything onto that. I explained I had already paid €5 for a card last week and the girl said she would do it. Anyway he wouldn't budge. So it looks like the girl miss led me or it just depends who you get serving.
