Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How can you use a 50 off voucher on a 36 euro shop?

Obviously other shopping involved to get it up to the total.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,181 ✭✭✭Lady Haywire

    Could have bought 12 bottles.

    Then it's
    8*6*0.75/50*40 = €4.80

I thought everybody was au fait with supermarket maths by now.

It's more out of interest to how the maths was done.

Even the latest post makes no sense, unless the OP bought 9 bottles to get them for 54 euro with the 25% off. Then minus 10 for 44.

    So 4.88 a bottle.

Otherwise the maths don't work. Or I'm just up to early to do maths.

Free groceries or cheap booze, you decide.

6 x €8 = €48. minus €12 off for buying 6 bottles brings the price down to €36. minus the €10 voucher brings the price down to €26. = €4.33 approx per bottle. Yes I did have to bring my spend up to €50 to use the voucher. So I suppose I could have said that I paid €6 per bottle but got a lot of groceries for free.

Incidentally I recently got a €10 off voucher for a €45 spend in Tesco during the week and a €5 off voucher for a €25 euro spend in Dunnes.

Does anyone know if the vouchers are attached to your club card. I have a 15 off 70 and two 10 off 45. It would be 35 off €160. Can you buy electrical items? Do you stop the shop if using 2 or more vouchers? Thanks I advance .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

Vouchers up to the value of 200 euro in one go is allowed. Electric items not excluded.

I had 3 x 10off45 vouchers from Tesco in through the letter box this morning. Each had a specific date span to be used.
You would be mad to go shopping without a voucher this Christmas.

Still need to be smart though, Tesco and dunnes have covered the voucher with higher prices on certain items
Special offers are what I go for and then head to Lidl/aldi for regular shopping

They definitely do. There's a particular cereal that I buy regularly which is normally e3.29. It's e3.95 now for almost a week. If I could only wean the "Cereal Kid" off it.

When ever we're in Dunnes we've always found it expensive compared to our shop in Tesco.

Yes I agree, they seem to drop the price of booze to entice you in (loss leader) and up the price of groceries, especially convenience foods and snacks..I mainly use the vouchers for booze leading up to Christmas and stock up as it won't be this cheap again until Paddy's weekend..Head to Aldi and Lidl for the essentials ðŸ˜

Where these in a promo drop or something you got on your clubcard mailing? I didn't get any voucher directly from clubcard though I've made up for it with help from the boardsies who posted the pdf vouchers :)

And again, that's the exact same barcode as all the vouchers that were given out as till spits and in the papers.

Which means all those vouchers will continue to scan until the 24th.

This was in Tesco Mullingar. No special ticket etc...just crazy low price. Not sure if it's in all of the shops

Yeah Dunnes is more expensive than Tesco for many things but I find most meat/poultry cheaper in Dunnes. But I like our local Dunnes because they give out 20% off vouchers all year around so it works out cheaper than Tesco. I do like Tesco for certain things but I do my main shop at Dunnes.

Oh, my wife started to buy pork from the Polish shop nearby, 30% cheaper than most supermarkets and fresher!

Any ideas? Booze not an option.

I normally get the following, stuff that lasts unopened for ages:
    Toiletries like shampoo, toothpaste
Staples like pasta, rice, teabags, tins of veg or fish
    and then
Stuff you normally use eg milk, cheese, butter

Do you know the terms on the back of those Tesco vouchers? Does it exclude Alcohol?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,382 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

People were getting phone credit. Tesco have dvds, cds, toys, electronics, knives, frying pans. Some people used to dunnes vouchers might be used to it being limited to groceries.
    musicmammy wrote: »

Tinned food lasts indefinitely as it is sterlie. Some poster was moaning about a tin of chickpeas going out of date. When I was young no tinned food had BB dates, there is no real need, one reason manufactorers they stick them on is to make sure stock shifts, they do not want retailers buying loads and having old logos on tins of beans or faded labels. They also threw out rice which should be fine long past its BB if stored correctly.

The moaning poster was making out like there are no savings if you are buying what you do not need. But if you bought a tin of chickpeas and rice to get over the €45 limit, and binned them immediately then you are making a saving.

Some people cannot get their head around it. I gave a 10/50 voucher to a couple last year buying booze, they had what looked like just over 40euro and were in 2 minds about taking it, saying they did not want more (they were carrying booze by hand). I explained they could buy a naggin for 7 euro to scrape over the €50 and throw it away and they would be saving money.

I have a 15 off 70 coupon through club card and two 10 off 45 receipts from last week's shop. Does anyone know if these can be used together? Ie. if I get 75 shopping does that then come down to 40 (75-15-10-10)??

No it doesn’t work like that
You would need to spend 70+45+45 to use all the vouchers

It probably is just your store so. They sold off Trio bars in mine which had a couple of months to go.

Of course they'd still be grand after that date too.

no, I went to the till with €90 worth of shopping and produced one of the vouchers I got in a receipt I got off them last week and one of the printed online vouchers they were alerted straight away by the printed one and after 5 minutes waiting around they came back and said no they could not accept it

Pdf above worked on my phone at self service checkout but you need something to put in the voucher slot like a receipt or something.

Got 6 bottles of lovely plonk for 44 euro instead of 72 thanks to the 25% off and this voucher.

I received a €10 off money voucher from Tesco at the till for a €45 spend last week. I used it yesterday but I was not given a new one after my spend.

So it appears that they are not automatic.

They're both the same generic barcode (all these vouchers are) so not sure why the blue one didn't scan. Maybe an issue with how that image appeared on your screen (barcode too big or too small etc).
