Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Which is the better one to get?

    Depends on your needs.

Personally speaking one with drive is better, sell the game code for 35-40. Your only looking at 125-130 for it which is goo deal.

A quick question for the xbox experts, son's xbox one is malfunctioning, suspect its about to pop its clogs, If I get the digital only xbox one can he still play all his games on it? I know it doesn't have a disc drive. Thanks in advance for any help.

If the games were bought online and are linked to his Xbox account then yes. All he needs to do is log in with same account on the new one.

Thanks for the quick reply. So do you think the games he has on disc won't be available to him then? Even though he has had to download the game he still has to keep the disc in to play I think.

No the games that are on disc wont be there. The disc is required to download them and then it has to be in the console to be able to play it. As this doesnt have a drive it is not possible.

Only the games bought online from the Xbox store will be available. Any games from Gamepass will also be available as long he still has a subscription.

Was it a case of just pressing buy over and over or did you go through multiple steps?

I bought the deal on Amazon Germany on Thursday for 112 euro ,thought that was a good deal.
Should have waited for this ,it was an impulse buy ,will probably just gather dust.

You could have some fun with it over Xmas and if you find it's not your thing sell it on Adverts and get most of your money back.

Anyone seen similar prices around for one of those? Can’t find it cheaper than 150 even on a German amazon...

Available from Microsoft Italy now for a bit more.

Tesco have 1TB normal One S with Forza for 149? Seems an OK deal in comparison, not having a disc-drive can be a pain as you cannot pick up cheap 2nd hand games or trade in new ones.

Not a silly question. I think the reason to download had benefits for the consumer in that you didn't need to hear the disc spinning eternally and if the disc hit scratched it wouldn't necessarily mean the game was obsolete. Certainly had some benefits for Microsoft too though.
The frustrating thing in this situation with the digital only console is that they could relatively easily see all the games you have downloaded from disc and allow you to own them but they aparantly choose not to.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,648 ✭✭✭✭beauf

So there is no way of playing games you own on disc on one of these? I thought you might be able to play them digitally.

    Anyone have difficulties with this?

Tried to buy from Microsoft Italy and all is fine, apart from the billing location - cant change the country from Italy.

Tempted to leave it on Italy with a 0000 postal code (as the delivery address is correct) but a bit concerned there might be issues?

Seems if you complete the purchase on a mobile phone using the mobile site, this billing issue doesn't happen.

Just nabbed an S with a disc drive and Gears 5 for 170 from Germany.

You can jam the plug into an Irish socket by pushing in the 'earth' at the top of the socket. I doubt you'll be taking it in and out that often so it shouldn't matter.
