OK so the countdown to my pre-mocks begins today :(
4 days till my first exam :(

    I have Spanish on Friday,
    Maths and Physics on Monday,
    English and Biology on Tuesday,
    Irish and Business on Wednesday

I get off at 1:05 every day except Tuesday, when instead I have a study from 9-11 (Right before English :D)
I actually love my timetable :D

We only get 1hr55 for each exam :(
I still have full papers for Spanish and Biology.. :(
For Physics we have 2 exp Qs and 3 theory Qs.
For English we have a poetry and Macbeth Q, plus we're getting some marks from a comparative essay we handed in today.
For Business we're getting 5 Qs (answer 4) from everything Units 1-5.
For Irish we're getting an essay, a pros Q and a filiocht Q.
And Maths is a mystery xD

Today I didnt get any homework except some maths, so I want to get all this done, hopefully :):

*Priority* Irish: Try and get as much prós notes done as I can, hopefully that will be my Oisin notes and Hurlamaboc or Dis, and then Ill just have Caca Milis and one other left to do, and then Ill have notes made on all the literature/poetry :D
Biology: Cover another chapter of Human Biology (Muscles & Skeleton)
Spanish: Do an opinion essay (2012)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭aleatorio

So I ended up only making notes on Oisin i dTir na nOg, which ended up taking 5 pages
And I read through the Skeleton and Muscles chapter for Biology :)

Feeling a bit unwell and down today, so Im not making any goals for myself as I know Ill just end up disappointed

So far since Ive gotten home Ive:

Irish: Wrote notes on Paul from Caca Milis
Physics: Did Q6 (Mechanics) from 2008 to 2004, currently typing up Q5 answers

Spanish: Write out favourite essay phrases and idiomatic phrases and learn.
    Maths: Do 3 exam questions
Biology: Revise exam questions for Ecology and Genetics (for pre-mock)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭aleatorio

Premocks begin tomorrow - I have Spanish, feeling confident :D

All I did today study wise was revise essay phrases and the subjunctive, cramming just gets me worked up :L

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭aleatorio

    Spanish went..ok :L
    Probably a B1 :pac:

Heres what Im predicting/hoping for for the rest:

    English - B2
    Irish - B2
    Maths - B2
    Physics - A1
    Biology - A1
    Business - B2

Yeah.. not being toooo optimistic :L

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭aleatorio

Physics went well, hoping for an A2/1 :D

Maths was..odd.. :L The section A questions were lovely, but my twat of a teacher gave us that dodgy trig question that caused a big mess on last years paper.. I hope he realizes that its yknow..unsolvable :L

English and Biology tomorrow.. hmmm English is my least favorite subject :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭aleatorio

So.. the pre-mocks are over.. and to be honest I feel a bit disappointed in myself :(

    These are my predictions:

    Subject | Pessimistic | Optimistic
    English | B3 | B1
    Irish | B3 | B2
    Maths | B2 | A2
    Business | B3 | B1
    Spanish | B1 | A2
    Physics | A2 | A1
    Biology | B1 | A2

This gives me either 515 or 565 points, so an average of 535, which I guess Id be happy with, but if I get 515 or lower Im in the danger zone of not getting my course, so :(

    Fingers crossed :o

    Subject | Pessimistic | Optimistic | Result | Points
    English | B3 | B1 | |
    Irish | B3 | B2 | |
    Maths | B2 | A2 | 86% A2 | 115
    Business | B3 | B1 |86% A2 | 90
    Spanish | B1 | A2 | 92% A1 | 100
    Physics | A2 | A1 | |
    Biology | B1 | A2 | 92% A1 | 100
    Points | | | | 405

Got 3 results back today, all As so far, surprisingly xD
Fingers crossed the rest go as well :')

Edit: Just got business back, another A2, so happy :D:D

    Biology | B1 | A2 | 92% A1 | 100
    Points | | | | 505

So so far Ive gotten everything except English and Irish back, and I'm fairly happy so far :D Especially with Physics and Business :)
Hoping for at least a B3 in both English and Irish, bringing me up to at least 580 points :o

Fair play! All the study is paying off. Proof that hard work gets results.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭aleatorio

    English | B3 | B1 |100% A1 | 100

    Biology | B1 | A2 | 92% A1 | 100
    Points | | | | 605

Soo... I got english back today... and I got 100% :O :O Totally unexpected considering I thought it went pretty badly at the time :o Im taking that with a pinch of salf though considering the subjectiveness of the subject, but I'll take the A1 ;)

So that brings my total points for the Pre-Mocks up to 605 (unless by some miracle I got an A1 in Irish (:P :P :P)) :D Ridiculously happy :D:D

I got a B1 in Irish :O :O :O In total shock considering I thought the exam went dreadful :L

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭aleatorio

So, the mocks have come and gone and I forgot to post on here during them due to my panicked revision frenzy...

So here's a little summary and my hopeful predicted grades:

English: Paper 1 is always a little hard to gauge, but hopefully the examiner likes my writing style. As for Paper 2, I managed to finish with 10 minutes to spare  But I think my Poetry and Comparative essay went well, and my Macbeth was ok I guess.
Irish: For once I actually was proud of what I produced in an Irish exam! My reading comps were a bit rocky, but I think I did well for the poetry and prós, and my A Thig na Tit orm q did lack in quality, but I haven't studied notes for that yet :o My Listening was very hard though.. But my essay went perfect :D
Maths: Paper 1 didn't go too brilliant for me, but I think Paper 2 will bring my grade up a bit. There was tough calculus on my paper 1, and a lot of writing on my paper 2
Business: For once, I managed to finish business without running out of time! 3/4 of my long q's were good, I hope, and my 4th was a bit unprepared but hopefully I did ok. We haven't covered Unit 7 yet, and because of this I wasn't able to answer 3 of the short q's, but I think I did ok in the rest
Physics: This exam went brilliantly :D Had time to answer 2 extra long qs, and was fairly confident in at least 5 of them. Fingers crossed this will yield a good grade.
Spanish: This was probably my worst exam, the tape sounded like it was in Chinese and my Opinion piece was unstructured and ramble-y... Got a bit flustered during the exam which threw me off a bit. I have my oral done however - 23% out of the 25% available, so I think that will be my saving grace.
Biology: Saved best for last - this exam went amazingly :D (Hope I'm not jinxing myself...) I've been studying Human Biology independently because my teacher thinks its 'unnecessary', but lord did this exam prove her wrong, 2 of the short q's were HB, as were various parts of long q's, so I think that saved me. Overall the paper suited me very well!

    Predicted grades:

    English |B2
    Irish |B3
    Maths |B1
    Biology |A1
    Business |B2
    Spanish |B3
    Physics | A2

So that adds up to 535 points, 25 points shy of my 1st choice.. But this is taking into consideration that based on my JC mocks, and others opinions, the mocks are marked both harshly (due to the lack of marking scheme adjustments) and sometimes carelessly (my JC mocks were corrected terribly )

    Irish |B3
    Maths |B1
    Biology |A1 |95% |100
    Business |B2

    Physics | A2

Got my biology result today - 95% :D Over the moon with it, top of the class by over 20% :o
I also got my Irish oral result, 31/40%, so happy with that too :)

Will probably get Irish and Maths early next week (OL came back today), so fingers crossed

Got maths back today - 83% :D I got 76% in Paper 1 and 90% in Paper 2 - My paper one was a total mess, loads of misprints and stuff that we werent told about, so hopefully our teacher will adjust the grade to exclude those questions :o
But overall, thrilled at the A1 in P2 :D And even more thrilled at the B1 overall :D:D

    The less said the better..

On the other hand, very pleased with Irish :)

Also discovered a part of a q that wasn't marked in maths so I went up to 85% :D

Hoping to get a B1 in business now to bring the points up to 560 :)

Right on the dot of the points for the course I want, but allowing for points inflation I have a lot of work to do :o

Right, time to bring this thing back into use for the last leg of the marathon!

I was working on Friday and Saturday so didn't get much study done, but between today and yesterday and the early morning on Friday and Saturday this is what I did:

Maths: wrote out notes/learned the following topics: Proof of De Moivres Theorem by Induction, using De Moivres Theorem to prove trigonometric expression, constructing root 2 and root 3, the four circle constructions, proof by contradiction, types of functions (injective surjective and bijective) and the three theorems
English: wrote notes on three Kinsella poems, did 2012 Kinsella essay and wrote notes on Kinsella and learned quotes
Irish: Did diospoireacht on Daoine Scothaosta, wrote vocab for the essay and wrote out a template for the diospoireacht (opening and conclusion etc)
Spanish: Did the entire 2005 exam paper (excluding the opinion piece and listening) and did one other dialogue construction and 3 notes
Physics: Did about 15/16 past exam paper questions
Business: Did a practice ABQ and wrote out a list of all the abbreviations in the course and learned them

Probably the most work I've ever done in a weekend now that I see it all written down :o

    Onwards and upwards!
