Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mad stuff, what a shame. Wonder if another club will be set up in their stead. What exactly happened there?

They're 3million in the hole, some bad player investments...being in D2.,.the stadium holds 13,500 ... their average attendance is about 5,500....it's been coming for a few years now.....I can't see the shareholders saving them unfortunately...

Please don't use them as a source or share links. If you need more info I can DM you.

As for the game, they've been money grabbing garbage for years. I don't expect any different until a new developer comes on board.

Even a rugby 08 in HD with updated squads would be fantastic...

Turns out Squidge did a beta review a couple of months ago. No sign of the set plays in his review, but there is some stuff on alignments etc from 13:40. Looks to have a but more detail than other games.

In absolutely no surprise news to anyone, the first review is in for Rugby 20 from The Sixth Axis and its not great.
    Summary
Rugby 20 is like a Northern Hemisphere team's World Cup campaign. It's full of big ideas and good intentions, but a shock defeat here and an expected loss to the South's big boys there, and it soon comes off the rails. There's some fun to be had, but it's often at the expense of the game, not because of it.

    Good
    It looks like rugby
Throwing it out wide and crashing through for a try
Some decent ideas for set plays
Pro AI puts up a fight

    Bad
Physics and animations always feel off
Kicking for goal is just bad
FUT-like team building doesn't fit the game
    Lack of big licenses

    4/10

    On we wait!

Edit - another review has given it 16/20 whilst another gave it 7/10 but haven't heard of those sites before!

Reports are that he had a scrap with Townsend. They clashed at half time of the England game in Twickenham last year too.

Wouldn't stop trying to do the Zebo/Teddy Thomas crotch celebration with everyone in the squad so they kicked him out.

I feel sorry for Stuart Hogg. If Scotland's six nations goes as I think it will he will have some intensely uncomfortable interviews in the weeks ahead. He's clearly delighted to be given the job but I think he's been set up to fail. With Russell away Scotland are now left with a weak and ineffective pack and no play maker.

If Farrell get's his forward selection right we will put an unflattering number on the Scots in the Aviva.

Losing MacFarland was a disaster for the SRU.

Don't buy it full stop. That series of games has been a joke.

I'm all for supporting rugby games but this crowd are out for a money grab. The rugby unions/leagues shouldn't have their licenses associated with it.

World Rugby need to cop on and get involved with a proper developer.

How much customisation is there with the game?

Like could I make a Leinster team where all the players look like Dave Kearney, are all called Dave Kearney and all sound like Dave Kearney - and then beat Munster with that team?

And could I record that game and post it on the Munster team talk thread?

Because that might be worth it to be honest.

You should still pick Rob at 15, it’s only Munster after all.

Because it's 2 French teams in one and 2 English teams in the other - They obviously reckon that there's no cross over/loss of viewers.

They'd be wrong of course , but that's the only conclusion I can come to..

It makes zero sense to me. If broadcasting is about maximising viewers, ad revenue etc why clash games?

I can only assume it has something to do with Premier League football.

It’s a strange one, obviously they think there is little cross over.

Always find in strange with the group games also, there is always lots of crossover a little need for it now that there is ten games each weekend. They don’t seem to use the 7.39/7.45 slot on Saturdays any more. I wonder why?

Maybe with the lighter evenings during knock out stage it’s harder to get viewers on Saturday evenings?

Really struggled to win, even with an extra man for large part of 2nd half.

Nienaber named the new South Africa head coach, and Felix Jones kept on:

Rassie Erasmus – Director of Rugby
    Jacques Nienaber – Head coach
    Mzwandile Stick – Assistant coach
    Deon Davids – Assistant coach
    Felix Jones – Assistant coach
    Daan Human – Scrum consultant

Yeah, but I'm referring to the impact of the result, rather than the performance

Injured at the moment, but was behind Myler prior to that and had been lining out at full back.

Faletau has shipped another injury for Bath. He's basically been injured for the last two years. Hope it's not another serious one.

    Just booted up Rugby 20.

    Leinster are 85/100.

    Munster are 86/100.

    I don't have high hopes.

    Can't go wrong with €50.

All I'll say is that so far, the tutorials are relatively complicated.

The main issue with previous games was their mind numbing oversimplification of rugby

I'm still tempted though, even though I know it'll be ****e.

I've heard some absolutely woeful reviews in terms of it being extremely glitchy, opposition team not appearing for scrums and being stuck at said scrum for several minutes, mechanics for goal kicking making no sense, lineouts being similar, rucks being a mess and turnovers laughably easy, and set moves not working if you sprint etc.

I'd rather find an old ps2 and play rugby 08 to be honest than pay 50 quid for it.

What I wouldn't give for Sports Interactive to make a Rugby Manager game. Far too niche a sport to ever make a profit though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,641 ✭✭✭Dog Botherer

if ye still have Rugby 08 for PC there’s updated rosters and teams/kits out there. i remember playing on a 2015 roster a while back and it was great craic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,201 ✭✭✭troyzer

Okay, so it's a ****ing mess.

Just had eight lads hover in a pod two metres from the ruck doing **** all.

The AI can't get into shape.

It's a bit of craic for the reasons though. Buggy as **** in a funny way.

Joe Schmidt to Bath next season by all accounts

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Interesting. Obviously the Dempsey link would be an influence there. They're relatively wealthy and have a serious back line but very little in the front five.

A couple of signings there and some luck and they'd be in the mix for the top few spots in the table.

Only midi olympique are reporting it (who aren't exactly reliable on a lot of stuff), Wales Online and Rugbypass have just quoted the midi-olympique report and then the smaller social media outlets are regurgitating the Rugbypass article

If true, I wouldn't be surprised if we see some big money offers for Irish players.

Premiership clubs will have to be very mindful of the salary cap.

If you're going to dig out a PS2, you might as well play Jonah Lomu rugby (the best rugby game IMO :p)

I'd have taken a reluctant punt if it was a budget game and by all accounts it should be, but full price is outrageous. It'll be €20 by the end of the year.
