I just finish What Remains of Edith Finch. I really enjoyed it. The story is full of imagination and it was great to walk around the house exploring as I went. An excellent game.

    Game: LIMBO
    Platform: Nintendo Switch

I could have played through this on PS4 and gotten a few trophies but I was out of the house for a few days babysitting, so I brought the Switch and played that version.

Great puzzle-platformer, and very cynical in tone but artistic AF all the same. Very good game.

I finished my latest Artifex Mundi game called Noir Chronicles: City of Crime tonight. It follows the usual Artifex Mundi formula with puzzles, hidden object scenes, cheesy dialogue and terrible voice acting. I always enjoy them as a good easygoing way to relax.

One to add in the Switch section:

    PS4

Horizon: Zero Dawn - great, great game, really loved the story, the world and most of the gameplay. My type of gaming experience :D

    Nintendo Switch

Celeste - fairly difficult platformer; was thrilled/surprised to finish it without needing to resort to the 'easy mode' help (extra mid-air jumps, etc...) at any point. Didn't get all the collectables (have 100+ of the 175 strawberries I think) and probably won't go back, but was very enjoyable for what it was. And really suited the Switch's portability I think.

    Game: A Way Out
    Platform: PlayStation 4

Played through this with the other half. We both went back and got the Platinum trophy then after.

It wasn't amazing but it provided a good (albeit easy) co-op experience. Not very visually appealing though - the graphics were okay. Can't complain too much given the fact it's an EA Original IP.
The voice acting was atrocious, though. Of that I have no regret slamming.

I do recommend it, regardless, but keep in mind if you decide to get it, it can only be played in co-op (couch or online). There is no single player.

What's wrong with the game? Just not scary?
    Or buggy/badly written?

Would like to know, I love Cthulhu Mythos stuff but never hear good things about adaptations!

I got the platinum trophy in Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. As with all Lego games, it's good fun and full of humour but the only challenge is the huge amount of collectibles you have to find if going for the platinum trophy.

The story starts off very well but once you reach the point where all the plot details should be coming together in a great finale, everything just starts to unravel. Once that happened I became much less tolerant of the bad optimization.

Then theres the voice acting, some characters were really good but then others just seemed really amateurish.
Theres multiple endings too, without spoiling anything, I hated the one I got and didn't think much of the others after looking them up but this is strictly a personal preference, theres people that will absolutely love the style of endings, just not for me.

    EDIT
To address the scariness, to it's credit the atmosphere the game creates is excellent, no reliance on jumpscares and the sense of dread at times is second to none

Game: Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
    Platform: PlayStation 3

I got the MGS Legacy Collection last year and I had actually started it upon first getting it but I must've forgot to continue.

MGS2 is my baby. My all time favourite title from the series as a whole and one of my favourite games of all time.

It's funny: the first time I played this game, my cousin rented it from Global Video back when I was still in Scotland and I remember liking it but because it was my cousin's PS2 and because he was in charge, he hated it, and thus never let me play it :(

He wasn't a fan of the fixed camera perspective.

About a year later I managed to get it in Toys 'R' Us for my birthday a good few months later, and I remember hating it after a certain point because I found it too hard
(I got stuck at the part where you had to diffuse the bombs because I couldn't comprehend, in my 12 year-old brain, where "The Bottom of Strut A" was)
    .

I eventually took it to a friend's house and he got me past that point I was stuck at. From then on I fell more and more in love with the game as the story unfolded.

    This game had everything:

    Brilliant gameplay
Deep story (Like, so f*cking deep.......)
and visuals that I believe still hold up to this day.

The amount of times this game broke the fourth wall astonished me, especially towards the end, it just blew my mind.

A lot of people shy away from this series because of its heavy-duty plotline and reliance on long cutscenes and radio calls to tell its story.

I personally loved it, and still do. I've always enjoyed cutscenes in games if they are directed well and aren't too cringey and, while this game does have its blood-curdling levels of cringe moments (looking at you, Rose and Raiden), the overall presentation is brilliantly done.

There were also a few plot points and twists that I never noticed in my early days playing this that I understood as I got older, and I'm still learning a couple of things even now.

The lore of Metal Gear is fascinating to me, and it only really began when I played this.

If I had one complaint, and it's one that I will refer to this remaster, is I wish they patched in an option to pause the game during cutscenes. My adult life doesn't allow me to enjoy those things as long as I once could, so the inability to pause makes it hard to decide when is best to press further on in the game. Thankfully, since I know this game like the back of my hand, I know when to save the game and leave it. My best times to play this was during the night, uninterrupted.

Anyway, sorry for the overly long post. This game does this to me, I guess. I could talk about it all day.

    Game: Gunstar Heroes
    Platform: Nintendo Switch

Part of the Mega Drive Collection.

Not a huge fan of sidescrolling shooters, mainly because I'm shocking at them. But I stuck this one on easy and took advantage of the save-states. This one was actually quite fun. I liked the variety of the boss battles and the gameplay was very accessible (probably because I played it on easy lol)

    Good game.

    [PC]

    Borderlands 2 (DLC)

Commander Lilith and the fight for Sanctuary

Really good DLC reminded me why I loved the Borderlands series and I cannot wait for B3. Quite a bit to do including the side missions and all for free also. Looked amazing at 4k also.

    [Xbox One]

    Dead Space 2

I have being playing this on and off for a while since I completed Dead Space (1). Second time playing it as I have previously played it on PC a few years ago. Great game overall. I will have to play the DLC as I have never played it before and then move onto Dead Space 3.

Game: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
    Platform: PlayStation 3

The game clocked my completion at over 14 hours, but it really took me less time because MGS3 still runs through your playtime even when you pause it.

I also made a hard attempt to get the Platinum trophy in a single playthrough. But one collectable trophy made that not happen. Raging.

Still, I enjoyed beating this game another time. Not sure if I'll jump into Peace Walker - it's the one solitary mainline instalment in the series (that Kojima deems important to him) I haven't played through.

Much of the same. Didn't take long to beat. I don't know if it is worth buying though as it has nothing to do with Dead Space 2's story.

I played the original Red Johnson game a good few years ago on PS3 so when I saw the sequel on PS Now I thought I would give it a go. It's a narrative driven puzzle game but it's a frustrating one as many of the puzzles are not intuitive at all. I found myself stuck a few times had to look up parts of the game. I'm not sure I would recommend it as it was a bit of a slog to get through.

Finished Adventure Mode 100% on Crash Team Racing over the weekend. I struggled with many of the races the first time around, but once you go back around for the tokens/relics/gem cups, the races are actually surprisingly easy, and especially when you're more familiar with shortcuts. Platinum is pretty much out of the question though, those time trials against N.Tropy and N.Oxide can f*ck right off.

Also got the platinum for MK11 a few weeks back. Wasn't planning on going for it but saw I wasn't too far off it and didn't seem overly difficult so just grinded out the last few trophies for it. Will wait until more Kombat Pack fighters are released before dipping back into it again.

Completed the Borderlands 2 DLC which got me hooked back into the game, so mostly playing that.

    You should, it's fantastic.

I'm actually playing through the MSX Metal Gear games that are on the MGS3 subsistence release and thoroughly enjoying them despite the odd bit of jank. Still extremely playable and it's a pity most people think the god awful NES version is the real first Metal Gear game.

I also recommend the Gameboy Colour Metal Gear Solid game. Despite it being none canon it's the secret best Metal Gear.

Thankfully my first dive into the original Metal Gear was indeed those same MSX games on MGS3. I knew there were differences between those and the NES but had no idea what, until I watched AVGN's video on it - thoroughly entertaining.

I'll stick PW on the to-do and I'll have a look out for that GBC one. Ghost Babel, I think?

[PS. Came into the thread to say I went and got the Platinum trophy for MGS3. All I needed to do was shoot 2 Kerotans that I missed]

    [Xbox One]

    Borderlands

Brilliant game. Played it before a few years ago on PC. Got it free with GWG on Xbox so said I will try it again. I actually started it a good while ago was around level 13 but got stuck into after playing the free DLC for Borderlands 2, it reminded me how good the series is. I completed every mission and side missions in the main game. I have the DLC's to play next.

Ghost Babel for it's Japanese release. It's just known as Metal Gear Solid in the west but fans differentiate it with the Ghost Babel moniker.

It's a fantastic game, just muscle through the awful puzzle at the start with the different colour cardboard boxes. Every Gameboy Colour game had to have a colour based puzzle as if colour in videogames was a novelty at the time.

Just saw you beat Gunstar Heroes as well on easy. My opinion is it's the best game on the megadrive. It's worth playing that game on Normal and Hard mode as it actually adds new attacks to bosses meaning you are only really getting the real game on Hard (you can play on expert as well.... but its too insane and only ups enemy numbers, HP and damage)
