Damn, I didnt realised its out this week!!! Hopefully my new credit card will come in time. Thanks to One plus one website someone bought themselves a nice holiday in Italy. :pac:

60eu in smyths I see. I presume it will be 69.99eu in MS store? For the sale of 10 quid ill get digital version.

On the lookout for a Pro so thought why not grab the Monster Hunter Pro but of course nowhere in Ireland seems to be stocking it.

It's retailer exclusive, in the US Gamestop have it and in the UK game. Over here no one has any idea so I assume that we ain't getting it.

Was talking alot of **** about this in my last post, but i went ahead and pre-ordered it tonight

:o:o Tried it again for the last 3 hours the beta was live and i really got stuck into it. Tried more of the weapons and killed the Nergigante monster. Roll on Friday

When it comes to PC I'll pick it up on GOG if it releases there. If it's steam only or something else I'll likely get it from a digital retailer for cheaper.

Seems to be a good introduction to the series from some of the reviews I've been reading. Any truth to that from some of you more experienced Hunters around here?

As someone who has never played a monster hunter game, it seems like this is the most straightforward one to start. It's hard to know how much the obtuse nature of some aspects has been exaggerated though - I always avoided Dark Souls due to the fearsome reputation it had, but when I eventually played it, It became one of my favorite series ever.

The only review that matters to me is Gaijin Hunters and he gives it flying colours in spades.

Love what I see and I want to play it. Thing is I am on a policy of cutting down on games and focusing on one good rpg and back up shooters to change it up a bit.

Right now my brain says to me to finish witcher, which will be in 2020. :pac:, but I know myself, on friday night after work I will be putting those cc details as fierce as Rathalos pounds your arse when knocked over.

It be great on switch. Surprised it’s not launching there. I assume it’ll come though considering Nintendo were instrumental in its success over the years.

I’m probably going to buy it on PS4 and play it remotely on my Vita kicked back on my couch.

I played nearly 3 hours (until the battery finally died) of xenoblade chronicles X on the Wii U last night on the game pad reclined on the couch.

Some games just suit a chilled out approach.

Doom on the other hand...

Stayed up till 6am playing this. Went with the dual blades and can't help but feel the game is to easy. I used alot of the slower weapons in the demo so I was getting hit often enough, But the blades give me so much mobility, attack speed, damage and ability to change direction mid combo make them seems very strong.

Having said that the strongest monsters I have faced where Barroth and Jyurados so maybe the monster Hunter vets out there will laugh at me as they may be considered easy fights.

I bought this on the US Psn on my US account and I was able to activate the preorder dlc on my account.

There's a 10% discount on the US Psn and with the dollar being weak you can buy it for $54/€44.

Hitman for 23.99 in Argos was the cheapest of the ones I checked on the list so should get you Monster hunter for about 45 if you do the leg work.

As big fan of MH series I am, I will have to hold out on it for a bit.

Money is a bit tight and I am playing Witcher 3. If I will get MH, it will mean I will abandon Witcher game again.

I am really jealous of all hunters out there right now.

Yeah im searching for cheap ps4's but finding it hard to justify it for 1 game even one this awesome plus PC fingers crossed will have all the bugs worked out and just look better

Getting such strong Phantasy Star Online flashbacks which can only be a good thing. Game looks amazing so far and to be honest they had me at 'meowdy-do' in the intro.

Been up till 6am for the last two days now. The game has a very addictive loop where you want to push on to the next new piece of gear or see the next monster.

Been mixing up what weapons I have been using to keep the game fresh. I started with the dual blades but they get old very quick. Their combo is pretty much span the hell out of triangle then press tri and circle for combo ender. Then sometimes you press R2 and do the same combo with more damage.

Heavy now gun is lots of fun also as the different ammo types really open up more options when tackling a Monster. Then I have tried the gunlance which has a super satisfying combo when you pull it off. Can't wait to jump back in later tonight

I'm willing to wait. Got a big backlog and I'm sure updates + lots of good info on the meta of the game will come about over time. Just hope there's no FPS lock.

Thats why Monster Hunter games were always so addictive for me. It always pushes you for that one more hunt. It didn't matter if its to progress your story, upgrade your town to get better recourses or complete that armour set, because your arse looks so fine in that Rathalos leather. Its a game that has grinding written all over it, but it was always fun grind. Unless you grind for Rathian plates or rubies. :pac:
Even if you were grinding some Monster for some part, you would notice your own improvement and skill growing. Very rarely you felt overpowered in MH games, but you felt your skill growing. I would even put bold statement, that it makes your skill more satisfying then Souls series.

Never had love for gun lance, but normal Lance was my favourite weapon. It felt the most satisfying and "well played" weapon of all. I have to admit, I did abused my time with seregios lance and armour set in MH4, but even then it was always my wespon of choice when **** got real.
Dual swords and long sword always gave me a taste of "noob weapon" in mh games. They are very easy to play with and not progress, if that makes any sense. Great sword, switch axe, lance are the weapons which really make you a hunter.
Unfortunately I never used ranged weapons in MH. Theu were too complicated to me as you needed to manage your ammo very carefully. Distance fighting monster had very important role.

Having fun so far, alot to take in, im just button mashing for the most part. I was expecting the combat to be more complex than just two buttons..

I'm lost on what to build to be honest.. Not sure i like the weapon im using yet.. Insect blade.. i keep throwing a bug on my arm..but i dont know what it does or if im doing it right.. i think im poisoning ****.. hopefully not myself :pac:

And i just upgraded the lil furballs gear.. not sure if i wasted stuff doing that or not..

All of this +1, MH neeeewb here.

Got through the first 2 quests earlier by:

... button mash, dodge, sharpen sword, eat health potion, run after the ****er as he tries to escape, not know what to keep or what to sell and finally hope that I’ve saved!

Enjoyed the small bit I’ve played so far. Definately a LOT to learn but that’s half the fun.
