Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I pushed them on this and they cancelled my flight and they have issued a refund although it has not hit my card yet. I got the refund confirmation from them.
I did not call them. All was done online.

Sound will drop down to you. I have not got my seat number yet. Registration has changed this year from the World Trade Center to the John B Hynes Convention Center off Boylston Street . If we not delayed i plan on picking up my car rental and driving straight to registration so i dont have to come into the city Sat/Sun. Am staying with friends near Foxboro.

I'm about 3 stops from the Airport T station so will go to the digs and drop the bags. Want to get the expo over with on Friday. Will head down to watch the 5k on Sat and have a 5k shakeout with the Boston Buddies run group on Sunday morning.

The weather forecast is taking a turn for the worse. The rain (not a problem) combined with 10-20 mph headwind (NE) the entire route could make it a cold, difficult day. Not like 2018 (please!) but you should pack with this in mind.

Des and Yuki will be happy. It will be like XC where you run for position rather then time!!

Much like what we got in 15 I was frozen in a singlet for the last six miles. Once you summit heartbreak hill a NE sea breeze drops the fells like temp.

    Bring under armour in case

Where you getting that from? Accuweather is saying :

    13°/11°

    RealFeel® 10°/5°
    Periods of rain
    Precipitation: 58%
    Rain: 4 mm
    Snow: 0 CM
    Humidity: 82%
    Cloud Cover: 99%
    Dew Point: 9° C

    22 km/h

Nothing can be as bad as last year . Not going to worry about the weather until fri/sat . Last year I wore a singlet . If it was similar conditions this year the only thing I would add is arm warmers and rubber gloves . Keep in mind it was 5 degrees or 42 f last year .

After last year I don’t care what weather we get - it all looks good in comparison.

Couple of places including accuweather - weather underground, weather.com and the letsrun thread for the neurotic !

    https://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=9315666&page=3

The accuweather forecast has improved both on wind and rain, but the WU is still showing the NW 10-20mph headwind but still only showers in the morning.

No one is predicting anything like last year but the headwind is a concern. After Connemara 2016, Boston last year I'm a skittish about tough weather.
I'm trying to figure out what to wear and whether to start with a disposable jacket.

    Oh, what to wear...

Singlet and baselayer? Or running jacket as well? I'd never normally even consider wearing a jacket for a marathon but I've no idea how to plan for this. Trying to do my packing here...

Pack everything ! As far as I can see they are waiting to see which way a front moves and it could swing warm with a tailwind & storms … or colder with a headwind. They are not going to know for sure until at best 24 hours before.

So in conclusion, it keeps changing and we probably won't know until Monday morning. Nice to see the wind changing though...

Now forecasts are calling for a tailwind with higher temperatures and potential thunderstorms. Not sure what to make of this - hate to end up junking my bad weather gear at the start. I'm guessing the BAA email was written yesterday before things switched ?

Jasus lads if we get weather thats anything like this afternoon in Boston we will be cooked. Cant see it happening but I do think it will be shorts and vest weather anyway despite the rain showers.

Did an easy 3 miles there and the humidity unreal. Keep hydrated folks

Got sunburn on the face myself. Boston common was busy. Plenty of freebies at the expo.

I would say London was better organised from what I remember of the expo last year. Maybe because I did the London expo on a Friday.

I watched Boston online last year streaming via my Amazon Fire TV stick, but can't remember how and all I can find today is that it will be available paid for via FloTrack. Any ideas as to the best way to stream it later?

Is anyone else going to be zipping up their Yuki suit to challenge him this year?

If the weather was in anyway decent he'd not stand a chance, but looks like it's going to be tough out there and that makes it doable for him to win again.

Jesus! There is a point where it's very dangerous for the folks at the back of the pack being out in that...

The disclaimers at the end of the drug adverts are quite scary on US TV.

That Steak and Ribs meal in the Outback advert looks delish...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,017 ✭✭✭Itziger

Fionnuala just under a minute behind the big group. If she can keep that gap and then start picking a few off and feeding off that feeling in the second half...... Could be a decent time.

Unfortunately, I may have been off with that estimate. Be interesting to see how she finishes now though. Historically a strong finisher but a Boston first timer......
