Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why do you have to re-reg? How do you know if you have these red or yellow card things?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,676 ✭✭✭✭greenspurs

14 yellows + 1 red (and another 2 reds that were reversed)
1 2 week ban - my hatred of a certain football club got the better of me … worth it though :)

Latest yellow was about 2 weeks ago , I challenged and it was disregarded, yes no surprise.
Who would have thought that pointing out that you shouldn't take pics of cars, while driving a car was "derailing the thread " ?

Just click on your user name in the top right, it will bring you to your 'homepage'.
Click on the infractions tab then.

Wait a second, you don't even have in Infractions tab! I think you're actually a good-two-shoes just pretending to be well hard...

I have one red only on my account from 2010. I have no idea what it was for actually. It was from a mod that is no longer a member of the site.

And it is marked as "Private" so either the thread it was on was deleted - or the infraction was directed and not related to any post. No idea.

Half curious to know now what it was for. After all I can not learn from my mistakes if I can not remember them can I? :)

Entirely clean record since that though. If I get to 7th October without an infraction then I am a full decade clean :)

I have a complaint about the mods. My consistently bad ass behavior has not yielded one yellow or red card in all my years on this and previous accounts.

Mods be conspiring to make me look like an angel.

Thinking about it...an infractions tab probably isn't and shouldn't be viewable by others, so that would explain it. I was disappointed with your home page after expecting to find an infractions tab lit up like a Christmas tree. :D

    3 yellows in 11 years.
One for pointing out that the OP was a troll,by checking his posting history. He got a permaban,I kept my card for pointing it out.
One for taking the piss out of Boards' commercial partner, some Chinese knockoff merchants shadier than Wish.

    2 reds, 3 yellows since 2007.

One red in the rugby forum for talking about Zebo in the ireland forum.

One red in the commuting and transport Forum for calling an ass hole out on his actions.

Two yellows in the Christianity forum because, well, they're a unique and special bunch over there...

And the earliest yellow back in 2015 in the rugby Forum for calling out BS.

Any sniff of Zebo returning to the international fold and the cards start flying. The cycling forum is perhaps the most joyless corner of boards, paradise for overzealous mods and frustrated mamils rendered impotent by the saddle. Thankfully AH hasn't suffered the same fate, despite murmurs of discontent over the Soviet purge of 2020.

I love those arguments from the type of user who’s here a wet weekend and yet goes on about the power tripping mods.

Most people on this site get along just fine, with one or two mod actions every once in a while, but to the other type of poster it’s always the power tripping mods who are to blame, along with their sheeple.

    3 yellows, 1 red here

Yellows were for what I considered 2 jokey comments and 1 “you really are too thick to breath” type
Red was for a bit of overreaction but still deserved. Last one was 2017

I think you'll find most of these users are not only here a wet weekend but may be re-regs. I won't point at anyone specifically as that would be a card offence :D

Yellow for calling the french after a slimey amphibian, in the rugby forum.

A yellow and a red. The yellow I felt was unfair however the red while I believed a valid point, broke the forums charter so fair enough.

    10 yellow and 5 reds
mostly in the politics forum in 2018, around the time of the Margaret Cash and abortion megathreads.
I got a permaban from there, overturned last year on the promise of good behavior and I havent seen any since (except an overly zealous yellow in C&T)

A great site, 99% of the mod team are sound, I've met a few of them at meets etc but theres a few bad apples too.
My work day and personal schedule during it wouldnt be the same without boards.ie!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,116 ✭✭✭✭RasTa

Yeah more like 23 yellows and 3 or 4 reds. Mainly for calling people idiots which I strongly believe people to be true in society so every single card was unjust

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,752 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Few yellows but nothing major, can't for the life of me understand the people who go through a whole dispute resolution process to overturn a digital yellow card. Dispute resolution forum is hilariously cringey

One has to make them work, see they got their decision wrong.

IIRC I got one yellow for not following one forum’s extremely specific and arbitrary rules, at which point I decided that said forum was causing me stress I did not need in my life. I ended up backing away from the whole topic altogether, offline as well as online.

I have two red cards to my name. Both were handed out by a moderator named whoopsadaisydoodles, who I sometimes felt disliked me. Both are from the early part of my time on this godforsaken site.

I also received a large amount of abuse via the personal messaging system. Even the odd death threat. Also quite a few messages from female posters asking to meet up the next time I was in Ireland.

I very much doubt I will receive another card or ban. I rarely post these days, and I also feel I've reached a sort of Elder Statesman status around here. Even a Spiritual Leader in some regards. The great unwashed flocks looking up to me for guidance and wisdom.

On this account, no infractions. But have a few reds and yellow cards on older accounts and I don't think they go away! :) So if I act the maggot, I think they can see that I have been infracted before, if they were so inclined to look. Not many infractions, mind. Maybe three or four across accounts? No bans ever though. I think.

I have no cards at all. I've flown close to the line a few times but my natural tendency for diplomacy keeps the cards away. I've already insulted about ten posters today, everything from "shut your cake hole you melt" to "fùck off nobody cares". I've managed to keep it to myself though. For now.

    5 Yellows.
    3 Reversed.

Think by and large most people who serve as Mod's deserve credit because it is largely a thankless task which if someone wasn't doing it, the site would be only a fraction as engaging as it is.
Some of them, because they are human, allow their subjectivity influence their mod activities but they are doing so under a mircoscope and I can only remember one case where serious action was taken on a mod who was abusing their position.

I got a red in 2009 because I made fun of god in a thread I thought was in AH. Turns out it was in the Christianity forum, so I deserved that. Then there was a decade long gap before 2 yellows and a red in 2019. This year I've only had a bunch of ****posts deleted on the politics forum. Politics mod should probably be a paid position.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 24,878 ✭✭✭✭arybvtcw0eolkf

A few cards, a few bannings. A perma ban from the motors forum because one prick said I'd given him a box one morning. In fairness he was slagging off my son who'd sold him a car, but I didn't give the prick a box, and even if I did (which I didn't :) ) it wasn't anyone's business here anyway.

I find the older I get the wiser I get and I just don't rise to internet arguments like I used to so I'm an innocent man in the last few years.

    Where can you find out?

    Scratch that. I see now.

    6 red
    7 yellow
    A one month site ban
    A 3 month site ban.

There are a few threads I'm not allowed post in anymore I think. I know a Gemma o Doherty thread is one. Don't know the others. Can't remember.

Next ban is going to be permanent I'd say.

Had a few bans, red card's, yellow cards etc

It all depends on the mods and their ability to not personalise your post's, takes a while to figure out how to be as cunning as the perpetually offended...

Say if you're debating with a stridently awkward self proclaimed male fenminst who really is calling himself a fenminst because he's an incel and will never get laid, but maybe some day a hot liberal will feel sorry for him, and that's his glimmer of hope.

Well debating the type I described above can be tricky to manoeuvre around, because I have to try to get my point across in a way they're not going to get TRIGGERED and then with their multiple accounts start to report me.

So I tend to steer clear of social justice warriors and their ilk, as they will usually try to destroy your credibility and integrity by doing your thinking for you...

Over all I'm doing ok recently without being infracted...I'm here since around 2009 so it's about time I behave myself.

Nearly every card I've received was from the same touchy mod in the GAA forum. Obviously wasn't happy when I disagreed with a post they made once and has yellow and red carded me multiple times since. Never seem to have a problem with any other mod bar this one. The odd soft warning but thats it.

Very true. I have tried to contribute to the Rugby forum on a couple of occasions and received outright bans in seconds. Very cliquey.

A lot of mods will give you beatings if they disagree with your tone or argument, it can often depend on how close you are sailing to their wind. I have given up arguing though, if a mod does not like what you said you are going down until you shut up. Speech is not as free as you think.

I think if you can limit your posts to areas which you genuinely love and care about you can really limit your beatings. It is getting into snipes on political forums that cause the most crap. I post all the time on music forums and never any hassle. But if I say that the Irish out half is a bit of a chunt I get a ban.

You can always tell if a post has been reported as well. The mod will not know why they are dishing out the beating. They will have been prompted, some of them are real numbskulls.
