I imagine interviews for Limerick will be pretty focused mostly on your work, ideas and thought process through your portfolio etc. Maybe even a few ''why do you want to go to art college?'' type questions thrown in but then again that's pure speculation on my part :pac:

A rejection would be a fair kick in the teeth around your birthday, here's hoping it doesn't happen

Times like this I find comfort in the thought that every one in three portfolios submitted has to secure a place. Hope that helps

long time since i was going for my limerick interview, but youre more or less talking them through the work you have, there will prob be two or three of them, but there are no major dragons among them, theyre all ok, bit like xfactor or something hahaha, make an impression on them and youre laughing...good luck...get familiar with the type of work they do in limerick also thats important...good luck

Apparantly they have been out since this Monday.I have heard in college someones friend getting in on Monday and others have said some secondary school students have their letters.

I dont really know if theres much truth to do this despite what people say as its very odd not a single person in my college has gotten a letter yet.

There's no sign of any letter here but then again my post can be slow.
It certainly seems a bit early compared to previous years but here's hoping there's some truth to it.
It will at least put us all out of our misery sooner than we think :pac:

It does seem early but I hope it's true because the suspense is killing me! I don't want to be counting down the seconds until the post arrives during my orals.

I wonder do they send all the letters out at once?

Its wierd.Someones claiming Colaiste Dhulaigh have letters and one guy got in - I find it suspect that a majority of one PLC course have letters and nobody else does?Unless you state in your portfolio what course your in I dont think they know where your coming from until the CAO officially tells you if your in.Its Wednesday now and no letter from anyone I actually know so I dont know what too believe

No need to be sorry; I am so glad that there are other people stressing about letters!

I'm in sixth year so I don't know anyone else applying to Ncad. My friends can't understand why I'm waiting so anxiously for 'just a letter'.

Just wanted to say about the letters and such, stop worrying guys! It really isn't a big deal, particularly if you're applying directly from school. I'm in second yr ncad at the moment, and I decided to do a portfolio course first (I did it in Ballyfermot, and I absolutely loved it!) I actually don't think I'd have been ready for big scary college if I hadn't gone there first

but basically don't worry cause there's always next year. Oh! And the number of people they let into Core had gone way up too, last yr they let in almost 200 I think, so you've all got a better chance than I would've too. lucky buggers. :P Good luck to you all though!

(and to anyone who gets on the waiting list, call the college and ask if they can tell you how many people are ahead of you on the list, lots of the time up to 15 or 20 people on it get in too!)

Gave the NCAD admissions office a ring today and got through to a nice lady who said the letters haven't gone out yet so we can all relax! She also said it will about another two weeks so there's still some waiting to be done :rolleyes:

Unugh, any person who's been claiming has a letter must just be wishful thinking

Can anyone tell me the date of collection for portfolio's in Dit. My bag got stolen on the way back from the college and my collection recipt was in it??!!! Please help ASAP

My friend dropped mine off for me and they never even gave her the receipt but told her 'around the 18th'! Hope that helps!

I was told that they had "hoped" to have them out for this week.
Then again it is very possible that it could roll into next week... you can never trust artists and their deadlines

For the sake of the fellow sixth year collective sanity, I'm banking on getting them this week. Irish Oral clashing with not getting in would be naaasty >_<

After school today I went and asked my art teacher and she said she rang them a few weeks ago and they told her the last week in March. Which technically is this week, right?

I've wasted valuable French oral time watching for the postman already.

Let's hope it pays off....

Funny enough there's also a documentary for RTE being filmed in my school at the moment. As I'm one of the lucky sixth years chosen to be 'followed', the whole bloody country is going to know if I don't get in >_>

Best of luck everyone! and don't worry NCAD are usually pretty punctual so if they say the next week-ish it will be. Its changed since I applied! you used to get the project after you got excepted! Is anyone applying to Crawford?

oh sorry I misunderstood. I thought the brief for the portfolio was instead of the project you have to do once your excepted. sorry I didnt mean to confuse anyone! I applied in 2003 and got in but went to crawford instead. if there was a brief at the time I didn't follow it!

I'm anxiously awaiting a letter from Ballyfermot now. I had my interview for Animation Drawing Studies last week and they said I'm definitely in, but they could've been bull****ting me for all I know!

Also had my portfolio assessed at Dun Laoghaire IADT today as well, no interview (yet...) but I'll be getting my results in May.

You will get Ballyfermot.They said the same to me and sure enough i had it(with just 5 drawings-ha).

So...Letters will be next week then hopefully.As I suspected nothing this week + everywhere should be on holidays for Easter the week after so they would be obligated to send them out next week.

+ Earlier when I said someone had got there letter,someone did infact get called for an interview.Thats it.

I rang NCAD at lunchtime today and asked if the letters had been sent out yet, and the girl said 'Yes, you should get it middle of next week.' So I took that to mean YES the letters have been sent, but if so, then surely we would get them on Monday, not the middle of next week?

So either they were sent out today or they're being sent out next week I'm so confused!

Did anyone else give them a ring and if so what did they say??

Ha.I wasnt expecting this.I remember last year it was around the same time ppl started getting letters(as in last day March-1st/2nd April).Considering they have at the least 300 LESS people to deal with this year I thought it would be more efficient.
Maybe the lack of applications gave them more time to be really rigurous and thorough with who gets in.

i've applied to galway as well. got a letter from them telling me my interview date in late april. went to the open day thow and to be honest didnt think much of it. it was so badly run and the people showing us around the college were unable to answer simple questions...saying that thow it cud still be good...just judging by first impressions it wasnt :P

ive no letter from ncad yet either

I feel more pessimistic by the minute! I have a half-day at school Monday, so I'm going to come home and sit beside the letterbox with a hip flask. I have a feeling it's coming Monday, but that's probably wishful thinking! Congrats on Crawford, mardybum!

Out of interest, has anyone applied to Limerick? I have it as my second choice but they haven't sent me a letter about an interview yet.

yeah ive applied to limerick too but they only wrote asking if i was still interested and they'd put my name down for interview but they never wrote back to me telling me when it is..

So glad it's almost over, someone came up to me today saying "Oh, I heard you got into NCAD". My heart nearly skipped a beat *pulls hair out*

Best of luck anyone waiting on the long haul with UL/IADT/DIT and Crawford. We're all bound to end up somewhere

my friend just told me that he called into NCAD today, and they said that they were posting out the letters on Monday and Tuesday, so we should all know one way or another by thursday at the latest.
