The site has definitely shrunk a little bit this year - not just Reckless in Love moving back inside the main area, but the Comedy and 'conversation' stages are now doing time-shares with other stages inside the forest and walled garden.

I can't say I mind though, brings back the smaller scale feeling of 2015-ish, and Reckless in Love being moved to there is a massive improvement. The previous field was okay, but it didn't flow with the rest of the site and was too easy to miss.

In case you can't make it past the Irish Times paywall, here's the schedules on the B&S FB page:

I'm definitely gonna check out Kneecap, over the last few years I've heard some great rap from Limerick, Clare and Dublin so this is my first exposure to Northern Ireland punk rap and they look like they could be mighty craic. 6.00 - 6.45 PM Friday Midnight Circus.

Definitely downsized especially on the Sat. No acts on the main stage on the afternoon to enjoy in the sun. Great to see Reckless back in the main area though.

Any one have any idea what the love letter stage is about or 2FM Classical collision?

Don’t miss Just Mustard late Sat night, something to aim for!

I'm guessing the Love Letter stage is what I remember as the first Reckless In Love stage - it's down the back end of the woods (coming from main arena). It was Reckless in Love for my first Body and Soul in 2012.

Some of my favourite BnS memories are of dancing around down there with a big silly grin on me at around 3am. I remember The Drifter closed it once and was amazing - he's back this year (as usual!).

Less of a dance vibe at that stage these days - oh well...

They change the name of it every year or two but I think it's the only stage still going in the same spot since that first time I was there.

Interested to see what Reckless in Love looks like this year.

They played one of the tents in the Walled Garden last year - mighty craic would be a good description.

Had kind of hoped to check out the Mitchell Drum experience though and it's on at the same time. Also a bit gutted by the Confidence Man vs. Kirtan Chanting clash!!!

    1st world problems :)

They're playing Friday! Apparently their set last year was brilliant, looking forward to it to kick off the weekend

Wreckless in love stage is over at 2am on Friday night? That can't be right is it? It usually goes on to 4 or 5am

I’m reading the grey blocks as “party continues”.

    Still implies 3am close.

I very very doubt it though

I don't think Reckless in Love ever went later than 3 or so in the past. I'm pretty sure of this because it was audible from the family campervan site, where I was usually trying to sleep!

Sat night's main stage shaping up nicely - KKC, Sleaford Mods & Modeselektor!!!

Proper whopper as the yoof are want to say!!!

    Was thinking this too.

KKC on the same time as Confidence Man in the Midnight Circus though. I've seen KKC so many times I might go with Confidence Man and leave early for the end of KKC at the main stage. I suppose I will see how I'm feeling on the night!

Saturday definitely the strongest day of the three as it usually is.

So Friday there's Kruder and Dorfmeister at the main stage for definite... and any other stand outs?

Murder Capital opening the main stage on Friday are worth checking out - great live band, intense frontman
And the auld Kneecapped put on a good show too

Add to that Neil Flynn for some crunchy ambient techno at Reckless in Love 10 - 11.30 PM, Fish Go Deep to take you higher after K&D at the Hennessy Stage 12 - 3 AM.

And there’s O’Flynn - not at B&S but a very good DJ/producer from London. Would be a good festival addition...

Thankfully Mark Flynn goes by The Drifter to reduce confusion levels...

What's the craic with the "Ancillary Entertainment" on the main stage after 2? Do you ever find out whos playing it? Le Boom played it one year, but that's all I can remember about it.

Just another word for after hours really, the sound will be lowered somewhat, it just means stuff on after the main stage and marquees close.

The Midnight Circus tent is gonna be unreal on Friday night, the only time I'm leaving it is to go see Pillow Queens and Roe maybe, but if you don't like hip hop and rap it might not be your thing though. Kneecap first thing on Friday at 6pm is a great way to open the weekend.

Getting excited now, starting to recharge stuff, doing extra laundary and brainstorming what essentials I need to buy for a week of camping. I head off to Ballinlough early Tuesday morning and will be doing two twelve hour shifts on Tuesday and Wednesday and I'm free for the Thurs and full weekend, woo hoo! can't phucking wait. :)

Hahah your reports and behind the scenes knowledge of the grounds etc pre-festival always get me excited!

I'll look a bit deeper later, but right now, and fairly consistently over the last few days of forecasts, it seems like we're looking at a mostly dry Friday and Saturday, but possibly a fairly soaked Sunday evening.

Poncho at the ready for The Blaze on Sunday evening.

Just go with the flow, follow the music with your heart, all the stages are fairly close together anyway and the smaller acts tend to show up in different stages throughout the weekend.

Hi folks. Just a couple of questions if any of you previous B&S attendees wouldn't mind answering!

Would it be suitable to bring a parent? They aren't the serious type, just wondering if they'd enjoy it.

Would there be any type of house music there? It's a genre I love.

What type of crowd does it bring?

    Thanks!

Lots of house music - checkout most of Reckless in Love stage, and a few other acts on various stages around.

Great crowd, very relaxed, never any major hassle. Lots of great food and drinks around, so a parent (I mean, *I'm* a parent) would find plenty to occupy themselves with.

Well Peeps I'm jumping into a taxi at 4.20 catching a bus to Loughrea and a friend who is starting the same shift as me is picking me up there and driving to the Body&Soul festival site, maybe I'll meet some of you there. :)

Anyone know if changing the name on a ticket is necessary? will they be checking IDs to confirm the tickets match the user?

Dunno, my friend did it last year just to be sure but none of us have ever been asked to check ID against a name in the years we've been going.

I'm about to buy second hand tickets myself and wondering the same, would be worried in case!

I don't recall them ever checking names.

The tickets are You & Us camping too, we're planning on just staying in General Camping, will it matter?

Nope, only matters the opposite way around. If you're general camping you can't access Us and You.

    Talos
    IAMDDB
    Kneecap
    Fish Go Deep
    Sleaford Mods
    KKK

Still looking good on the forecasts for a dry Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately, also still looking increasingly nailed down for a wet Sunday, or at least post-midday. Hopefully it shifts just a few hours Monday-wards and stays dry until later on Sunday.

  • Registered Users Posts: 166 ✭✭hugeglobe

    Ibibo Sound Machine
    Moxie (band)
    Kate Tempest
    Automatic Tasty
    Cait
    Donna Leake
    Confidence Man
    Modeselektor
My House (they're back for all of Friday in the bulmers tent woo)

for a complete newbie to B&S and not a hugely knowledgeable electronic fan what DJs would you guys recommend? I've always loved Djs that mix-in well known tunes from different artists. Who would be the most likely to do this? cheers for the guidance :)

Mother DJs are always amazing craic at Body & Soul. They play a lot of well known 80s type songs but also some good electronic music, I would almost guarantee you a good time at them!

Kellyanne Byrne is very similar to Mother DJs too. Fish Go Deep, Disconauts, Sally Cinnamon all have played nice sets of house/disco type stuff too anytime I've seen them. The Drifter, Mano le Tough, Lil Dave all on the Sunday are very good DJs but a bit more electronic/darker.

The Blaze are brilliant headlining the main stage on Sunday night too, I would definitely check them out if you have never heard of them.

I think you might very much enjoy Sing Along Social, which is not a DJ really, but still!

I don't think the DJs at B&S are likely to play very well known stuff mostly, although you'll get plenty of DJs playing the odd well known tune from decades past!

All good shouts. Kellyanne Byrne for sure - I wouldn't be mad into mainstream leaning stuff but thought her set last year was great and masterfully woven together.

Claire Beck at the Secret Garden stage on Sunday would be worth checking too.

Some craic last year - especially coming after the Joyful Noise act, Woodlands stage in the sunshine, I have a few videos of it actually - it was unreal
