The probe records the location (with those statues) and by recording the location, the Eye can no longer move (for quantum... reasons, like how the quantum stones and moon stop moving if you have a picture of them)

The supernova is to power the time reset. When they first made the black holes they realised that what was put in was coming out slightly before it went in (i.e. they created time travel), so they had the idea that a large enough power source could extend the amount of time something could be sent backwards in time.

Maybe? Although if you are standing directly on it, maybe that is enough awareness to count as observation and cause it to stay in place?

The interloper only opened once, releasing the ghost matter killing all of the Nomai. The ghost matter eventually dispersed

100 of thousands of years ( I think on the probe station it mentions how many cycles its been through, or maybe its the sun station?)

The statues that record the probes exploration satisfy the observation requirement to stop quantum objects from moving.

    Thanks man!!

Any ideas why the statue at the start
didn't link with anyone else and what makes the small few characters who do link with statues special?

I was paying life is strange 2 last night and really getting into it but kinda missed flying around the OW solar system. There's still places i never visited like the sun station. Speaking of...
to get to the sun station, you either manually land on it or warp from ash twin correct? I tried both and failed miserably. That warp room, if it's correct, means i have to jet pack over a load of cacti? Is there any other way to get to the warp pad?

    Memory is hazy
but I think you need to let it fill up a bit with sand before you can use that warp room.

Christ, that makes perfect sense, have to load it back up now. Wanted to start a new game anyway to make sure the orbital canon doesn't shoot when you wake up.

to get there once you wake up, head straight
for the ash twin, then wait outside the door and walk across as the sand is draining, you should be able to avoid all cacti at that stage.

    Ah yes,
    draining not filling up.
    :o

Man, I thought you just had to have epic jet pack skills. Almost made it at one point but glad i gave up.

When you complete the game, where does it start when you press 'Resume'?

Can't believe I've to go out and socialise all weekend instead of finishing this off. I feel I'm close. Almost all the entries in the ship computer are solved.

What's next on your flight plan?

I actually didn't think to check! but considering that
removing the warp core effectively disables the memory device, I would imagine that it puts you in the loop before you remove it

Gonna check it out next time I'm on, see if i can fill in the rest of the ships log.

I need to find a way into the
    quantum of knowledge on brittle
. Last thing I need to do on there. Hopefully from there I'll be able to get to the
    quantum moon
as its the last piece of that puzzle. Also need to find how to get from
the twins to the sun satellite thing.
Haven't fully searched for that yet. After that, solve the (final?) riddle on the ash twin. I think I've done everything else on the other planets. I think I need to get two of the
mini black holes into the broken drive on the vessel and warp to the coordinates of the eye
from there.... as of how to do that... I'm sure it will come together.
Using the teleports on the ash twin
seems like the best course of action.

Added spoilers just in case. Also figured out how you're actually supposed to get through the currents on Giant's Deep. I
forgot that there was a giant hint at the southern observatory on Brittle Hollow. Only managed to get there after I finished off Giant's deep. I thought an island pushed my through the currents rather than the reverse tornado.

Like most things in this game so far, figured out how to get into the quantum of knowledge by accident. I was trying to jet up along that hallway with the broken gravity wall. I was there for a quite a while until... you know what happened next.

Ha, another "ah Jaysus what's happening now" moment. So many of them in this game.

You reckon if this had gotten a steam release more fuss would have been made of it now in lists at the end of the year?

Are pc players really avoiding games because they might have to download another app to purchase/play it? Their loss (hopefully the devs got a nice little exclusivity bundle of cash).

Has been near the top of a lot of lists I’ve seen? Just got named Polygon’s game of the year today: https://www.polygon.com/2019/12/13/21011871/outer-wilds-goty-best-games-of-the-year

Sad reality is that indie games, even ones as acclaimed (players and critics alike) as this one, struggle to get the same attention as bigger titles. Honestly the platform that really can propel games like this into the wider public consciousness is a Switch release - I’d hope it makes it there some day, but equally it’s a pretty complex game so surely a somewhat tricky port. But hey, if they can do the Witcher 3...

I went through 3 lists earlier and didn't see it mentioned but hadn't seen the polygon one or IGN's yet.

Number two on Paste Games’ list too, which incidentally is one of the most interesting and varied I’ve seen https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2019/12/best-games-of-2019-goty.html

That is an impressively eclectic mix.

Finally figured out everything on the
quantum moon, the music comes in as I'm teleporting to the sixth place, my jaw has dropped as I'm walking up to a living Nomi and sure enough the sun explodes just as I reach him

It's actually quite easy to fly through there. If you touch a cactus, just repair and move on. You can hit multiple cacti and you'll be fine.

Just finished it and read all your redacted notes. One thing I think you guys might not have realised is that
the comet crashes into the sun right before the super nova. I presumed that's what set it off but there is mention of the Sun Station firing. I never managed to get to the Sun Station.

    Now i want to
land on the comet and watch it hit the sun, hasn't read that anywhere else.

    The sun station
was a failure. Not sure if it wouldn't fire or just not enough to kick off a super nova.

I tried getting their through ash twin and i was too late, cacti room already drained even though i headed straight there. Think i didn't too much following the yoke around planet.

Have a look at the path that the comet takes. It alters slightly with each lap around the sun, getting closer to the sun itself. It's last lap goes right into it. I only realised this when checking the map as the doom music starts, I couldn't find the comet anywhere.

I just looked up how to get to the sun station. I don't know how I didn't get there considering I did go through that room with the cacti.

I had to look this up because questioning that didn't even occur to me, but:
One of the logs on the orbital cannon mentions that it has been through 9-10 thousand loops already, by the time it found the Eye of the Universe. Once it got the location, it triggered the other statues to link with the nearest person so that they could get the location and turn off the ash twin project.

So, it seems to be a case of you (and the other hearthian who is caught in the loop) were just in the right place at the right time.

I had spotted that with the comet alright
when I was trying to time landing on it right for the ice to melt so I could get inside. think the ice melts on the last orbit before it crashes

I gave up landing on it for a finish, I'm half convinced that the
Ice only melts if you're standing there looking at it (quantum ice? :), as several times I ended up having it melt enough to fall through just before it hit the sun

I remember that being a tricky bastard to land and stay on but i remember when
the ice melted, i had enough time to find all the stuff in there, definitely didn't feel like i was against the clock!
