Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I didn't know SV had Warsteiner?!

I must take a look tomorrow to see if my local SV bothered to stock them!

    4 x 660ml for 10euro moretti, cobra, krombacher, staropramen

Some branches of Tesco still have 4 * 660ml Peroni for a tenner.
Also cardboard boxes of 18 * 33cl bottles of Peroni reduced to 20

Is it the bigger 660ml or the 500ml bottles of straporem that are brewed in U.K. and to be avoided?? They had the 500ml in lidl today for €1.49 I think, but I couldn’t find on the bottles where it was brewed. I only say some reference to a U.K. website so didn’t buy as assumed they were there. I had the 660ml bottles once and wasn’t too crazy bout them, dunno if they were Czech or U.K.

It's the 660 Staropramens which are UK brewed muck.

    Scrap the cap!

Both of my local Super Valu stores had Staropramen 500ml 5 bottles for 9 euro last time I was there. Not quite as good as 1.49 per bottle but still pretty decent.

Anybody think Dunnes trays of 24 cans for €28 on Carlsberg ECT will go lower at the weekend to match any €24 deals that will likely be around or will they keep it at €28 due to the €10 off vouchers .

good price for absolut. It's 40%, if it was only 37.5% like smirnoff that would be €23.44 per litre.

I'd expect 2 for €50 from Thursday for Carlsberg...I could be wrong.

Guinness is €30 in Dunnes, so €25 with the €5 off coupon. Should be €28 in Tesco this weekend but it is currently €10 for 8 in Tesco, which is equivalent to €30 for 24.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks Sam. Would have hoped tesco would have initiated the 28 euro slabs from today. Doesn’t bode well. Maybe tomorrow.

BTW haven’t any Dunnes vouchers. Is there a way to get them.

Buy €25 in Dunnes, say a slab at €30 ot a bottle of whiskey for €25 - get voucher for €5 for next day. Return next day and buy another slab for €30 (€25 with coupon) and repeat daily.

Alternatively, they send them out in the post - €10 of €40. I got four each valid for one week.

I assume most vouchers go unredeemed.

This is not advertised as being on from today so I'd say Carlsberg is still €28 in Dunnes. Tesco have it for €25 but no vouchers to use.

3 * 660ml Peroni @ EUR9 back in stock in Dunnes (Maynooth and probably elsewhere).

Tesco slabs were on offer on Tuesday. Well the Stella 24 for 25 was on anyway. Running till the 4th I think if I read the code properly.

No slabs of Guinness left in Cornelscourt Dunnes and staff not sure if they are getting any in

    Redmonds Ranelagh:
    Veltins 500ml can 4pack for 8euro
    Jever pilsner 500ml bottle 4 for 10euro

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,513 ✭✭✭✭Hotblack Desiato

Veltins is decent but not worth more than €2 a can anyway.

Spaten is nicer and always €10 for 5 in Dunnes.

    Scrap the cap!

    Tesco:
Carlsberg and Bud, 24 cans for €25
Heineken and Bulmers, 24 cans for €28.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

It's actually quicker to click on the link than to reply to the thread and type out "Are they 250ml or 330ml cans?"

To keep on-topic, I may buy 6 tomorrow. Have never heard of them but for the price they are "ok"

Spaten is one of the best beers on the market in my opinion. Aldi do the 500ml bottles for 10 also.

Not if they're on a work PC and shopping sites are blocked :)

I spent a summer working in Munich 31  years ago - I didn't like any of the crappy lagers on the Irish market, but that stuff was like nectar. I couldn't imagine being able to buy it in my local supermarket back home :)

Chinese beer Tsing Tao in lidl, 6 330cl bottles for €6.99.
Also they had kingfisher, first time I ever see this in Dublin supermarket. But it was near €2 for a 33cl bottle. They also had Vietnam beer can’t remember name, and Changi of Thailand, and Sapporo from japan, tho I prefer asahi over Sapporo. All similar price to kingfisher tho so not bargains.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,360 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

I used to drink the big bottles of kingfisher on the island of Diu for equivalent of about 40cent so I just couldn’t pay €2 for a 33cl.

Seems to be Seltzer season. As well as the White Claw Tesco also have:
    * Kopparberg hard seltzer 330ml, 3 for €9
    * Barefoot wine seltzer 250ml, 4 for €9

My Review, drank in this order (for clarity no other alcohol was consumed prior to the test)
Lime...Pish, tastes like sparking water with a weak table spoon of lime. I was expecting this flavour to be best.
Raspberry...Like a very watered down Mr Freeze of the same flavour, better than the Lime.
Black Cherry...Nicest of them, doesn't seem as much gas in it as the others.

Overall gassy stuff, you couldn't drink it the same pace as beer. If you were on it all night I'd say you would need to be pumped out, perhaps it's more of a 2 or 3 drinks a session type of drink.
