Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don’t get your reference, care to elaborate?
Hooch ; Broken Bottles in the Shenanigans that surround such Activity.

Al Capone went in to the Milk business to wash some of the dodgy money. Also Glass Bottles. He supposedly once said after making so much money selling Milk ; We have been in the Wrong Racket All Along !

Dunno if this counts but I’ll post it anyway

Seen such a weird thing twice today.
There was a huge amount of broken glass (a huge amount you’d noticed if it smashed on the road by A Roundabout no crash had happened or nobody was attending it , just lying there on the road it was very dangerous. So about half hour later I was out by the local airport and there was another huge amount of glass on the road unattended and no signs of a crash or anything. Kinda weirded me out at the time and more I’m thinking of it. Looked up what does broken glass mean and it’s supposed to be good luck is coming after a bad or tough time recently. Mad one (well in my head anyway lol)

Overfilled glass recovery truck, coming to a stop, truck slows, load shifts, glass spills, be interesting to see if it's all the one colour?

incidentally, all the recycling banks are filled into the one truck body, no segregation there. most that I know of are then crushed and used for fill, so no recycling there either.

All the same coloured glass the standard see through stuff. Such a dangerous place in the road, the one was weird but then to see it again in a completely different part of the city, it’s a mad one.

Couple of weird things have happened to me over the years.

Reading the BMP posts and it somehow made me think of a guy I kept encountering on the way to work every morning in 2002/3.

I’d just moved to Dublin, cut my hair, got a job. Walked across the (new) millennium bridge, north to south, and at around the same point of the bridge I’d come face to face with this guy who looked exactly the same as me - tall, dark hair, smig, scowl (because it’s morning) except with long hair. The exact same. Made me feel dizzy to look at him; one morning I nearly fell over. And I swear he was thinking the same. Or else thought I fancied the cut of his jib.

I’m underselling the strangeness which permeated me and spike of adrenaline I experienced when I encountered him. Never laid eyes on him anywhere but on that bridge; haven’t seen him since.

I have definitely heard of that before from like a time travellers thread or a Dopplegänger (an apparition or double of a living person) with the fuzzy faint feeling could well be you meeting yourself in a different space in time. I’m not averse to these kind of things happening as your spirit is a very powerful thing. It’s definitely a wiped out scenario. How many times have you seen this “person” ?

    I have a 2nd story,

A few years back my father and I where travelling home
    From work at night,

We just passed the outside of a village I look to side there was this old man standing behind a wall with long grey hair, a straw hat and a walking stick he was just looking at me and I was looking at him, like this would have maybe been 1 in the morning and I turned to the father going did you see him ? He went seen what he went no, so anyway I asked him to turn around and when we went back less then a min later and the person was no where to be seen and we even pulled in to where I seen the person,

I even asked people who I know from that village and they had no clue of the person I was talking about

The village in question is Freshford where St Nicholas is post to he barried the st who Santa is based on and I wonder could it been the ghost of this st I seen as what I seen was basically someone who looked like Santa

Way back when I was a student I used to work in a local pub.

This involved me walking home pretty late at night after closing time (I wouldn't do it today!).

I was working there a while when the phone calls started, every night I'd come home and open the front door of my house, within a minute or two of me getting in the door the house phone would ring.

To start with the calls were pretty inane conversation hello, how are you, what are you doing with me asking who is this etc (at 2am it was quite strange).

This kept happening every night like clockwork, I asked them to stop calling and to leave me alone, I was getting freaked out and it was clear someone knew exactly when I was getting home.

I lost it one night and basically told them to f*** off, the calls continued but no more chat just silent lines and hang ups. The calls stopped eventually or they got bored but it did have me looking over my shoulder for a while.

Nothing paranormal, probably some weirdo neighbour but it was very unsettling and made my nightly walks home very scary for a while.

This must have been very unsettling indeed - I salute your courage, your sang-froid!

    Distinctly un-nerving.

PS The times I've received nuisance phone calls, I always turn the radio on to a really bad music station and leave the phone beside it, and walk away.

Coming home from the pub in Limerick in 2009 I saw what looked like a big sub roll wrapped in tin foil on the ground with coins stuck into it like a stegasaurous' back and it was spray painted gold. I have the photo I took on my potato phone I had at the time, if I find it I'll repost. I got such a sense of paranoia, chills ran through my body when I saw it. A lot of people who know me say I've never been the same since. I've had professional help to try and overcome my shock but nothing has worked.

They say you can't die in your dreams. But i had a dream where i died one night. Very creepy.

Everyone was on top of a building and had to jump off it. There were crash mats in certain places but you didnt know til you jumped.

Anyways i jumped and hit the ground. Died. Instant infinite blackness in all directions but my mind was left active as it is now.

It was horrible. A mad panic hoping for some kindof light for me to walk into. Then a mad panic looking for company to talk to, a la other ghosts.

Then a realisation that i was trapped in blackness for eternity with just my own thoughts until i would go insane.

Then i woke up. Thank god!

Strangely enough a priest said that 'hell' was not pitchforks and fire but similar to what you describe, an infinite nothingness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,480 ✭✭✭Chancer3001

I would agree with that priest's idea.

There was also bitter regret that i didn't peek over the edge first before i jumped to see the crash mat.

So it would have been infinity cursing my own stupidity and foolhardiness.

I also had a dream as a kid where i went to hell but i won't be describing that lol. Wasn't a nice place.

It’s like when your phone rings in the middle of the night while you are asleep.

The ringing wakes you up and you answer it.

You say “Hello” and you get No response.

You say “hello” a few more times but again No response.

You carefully listen for any reply but none is forthcoming but you can sense and feel something.

    .Something in the silence…………Something alive..............and......................hateful.

You eventually hang up and try to forget about it.

You are drifting off to sleep, and then the phone rings again.

=(:-) Me? I know who I am. I'm a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude (-:)=

Personally I prefer giving them the silent treatment. Ok if its a land line , How do you know who is ringing but I think I have unnnerved one or two silent callers by just picking up the phone and saying absolutely nothing:

They don’t know for certain if you have answered or are that you are listening or not, you could have left the room. So in affect you are crank calling them at their expense. I have done it,or at least thought ( how could I be sure ) I did it to crank callers and they have stopped with this method !

The only problem is if it is a legitimate call and they think I am a psycho :D

This reminds me of a dream I had where I died in this life and went to hell.
In the dream there was a thousand foot skyscraper, on top of the sky scraper was a long metal rod and on the top of the rod there was a hook that reaced out beyond the building. I was hanging upside down from this hook, attached by a long wire tied to my ankles.
I was suspended in the air, upside down, too high for anyone to see me, below I could see windows in the building but I was to far away to get any access to them. There was no way of releasing myself from the wire or hook.
I swung myself around, I used all my strength to try and break the wire or untie it from my legs but nothing worked.

I had to stay on this hook suspended in thin air until I died of natural causes like dehydration or starvation. After I died I would reawaken in perfect health in the same position, suspended in thin air, alone to die another suffering death and the cycle would continue for eternity.

Ugh that's horrible. I hate those startling ones. I had a dream I was having a lovely chat outside the pub with the person I love more than anyone else in the world and the evening was just setting in and I had that pleasant feeling of the night just getting started. Then someone emerged out of nowhere and just slit their throat from behind. No recourse, no nothing, dead. Their surprised, pained expression... It comes back to me in my waking times if anything at all bad happens them. I think it's my brain telling me to actively love them every moment because one day they'll be abruptly taken from me and I'll regret any moment I didn't fully appreciate.

I think he was chained to a cliff, and every day an eagle would come and peck out and eat his entrails, he healed overnight.

They say you can't die in your dreams. But i had a dream where i died one night. Very creepy.

I've had a few dreams when I 'died'. Getting shot during an incident or being run over by a car. But there was no darkness in my dreams I just saw people arranging my funeral or bad news getting broken to my family.

Its always those dreams when you know you're dreaming so when I wake up its never a shock or feeling of terror. Like another poster said it was never creepy

I was 18 and out with friends when I decided to skulk off and meet a guy, 24, who was texting me on grindr. I met him in his house on the city outskirts and I felt uncomfortable straight away. He seemed depressed and dirty, he did use real pictures but they were from a better time. Stench of cigarettes and bo off him. I was too shy to back out so I sat down on the couch making ****ty small talk (about my leaving cert of all things) and he went back to his room to plug in his phone so it "wouldnt disturb us". We didnt do much more than kissing when I asked him to get me something from the kitchen, and when he got up I darted for the door. I didnt try to suddenly rush out without saying goodbye because I was scared of him or anything, but because I just felt so overwhelmed I wanted the whole thing to end. I got to the front door and he sprung into the hall behind me asking what I was doing and to come back, I tried to open the door but it was locked. I entered major panic mode because I thought i was gonna be raped and killed, none of my friends even knew where I was. So I started beating the **** out of him and kept screaming for him to open the door, he got a set of keys from a hallway desk and unlocked the door, I was out like a ****ing rabbit. I remember the front gate just being old/stiff on my way in and I was afraid he'd be able to catch up to me before I got past it. I felt like Id never get out. I flung the gate back and legged it. I met my friends when the clubs closed and I told them I was thrown out of the club and drifted around for a while.

I dont know who lived in the house with him, but some of my friends say i completely overrected by not giving him a chance to explain himself. They think that he probably just locked the door to stop roommates/his parent from walking in on us, which is possible. But if that was the reason then I dont get why he lied about putting away his phone, because that must have been when he locked the door, and even if it was the case that wasnt a reason to hide the keys in the drawer. Either way, better safe than sorry. Never in my life have I felt that feeling of dread so strongly.

He was hoping you were a banger but from his point of view he got a headbanger !
