Trish Stratus could become the latest WWE Hall of Famer to take on a behind-the-scenes role at the Performance Center to help groom upcoming NXT superstars.

Speaking on the Women Talk Wrestling podcast (h/t Marc Middleton of Wrestling Inc.), Stratus said she is open to a coaching role in NXT but perhaps not right away:

"The reality is it comes with the road, right? And I just can't do the road because of my family, at this point anyway. They're young now. I have a three-year-old and Max just turned 7. So at this point, I just couldn't go back on the road like that and leave my family like that but yeah, I'd love to contribute in some way. It was nice to go back those couple times and just work with the girls and see how their minds work and telling the art of storytelling and just working with Fit [Finlay] again, it got me stimulated and him and I were in like this little — we're like Frit and Frat.

"We just have this little connection when we were working together, and we would literally come up with ideas the more we would — and we'd be like, 'Yeah…' You just have that with someone. So we had that and so I thought, 'Man, we could put some good matches together.' We would be like co-agenting probably. We would be awesome but, yeah I would like to contribute in some way."

A number of WWE legends are currently working as coaches and trainers in NXT, including Shawn Michaels, William Regal and Sara Del Rey.

Except Sara del Rey never wrestled in wwe as far as I know.

Trish was mediocre at best in-ring. Is she going to teach the new recruits how to look good in a bikini?

Well she did become very good in the ring by her retirement and to me I give her credit for wanting to learn and get better.

I might be mistaken but i seem to remember her having a match on NXT tv at one stage.

Maybe she did but the wwe legend part wouldn’t apply to her.

Literally anyone who has stepped inside a WWE ring and is still associated with the company is considered a Legend for PR purposes.

Trump is in their hall of fame alongside multi-decade veteran workers.

She knows how to work the WWE type of match to a good standard so I'm sure she has something to contribute.

Indi Wrestling.....how did we not see it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Was just thinking it'll be interesting when word gets out they're trying to trademark Indi Wrestling.

Cant see anything other than a comedy type act for Drake Maverick, he doesn't have the size to be a serious act in and out of the ring

Dream back out of nowhere this week, was a decent match against Cole though

I guess we have to forget Austin Theory was on the main roster for a while

Can anyone else see Kyle O Reily getting booted out of the UE ? something like Evolution with Randy Orton

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,109 ✭✭✭The Ayatolla

The refreshing swerve would be KOR winning and then they boot out Cole.

    Yeah that would be fresh

Another thing i'm disappointed with is that they didn't leave Finn heel for very long. He was great as it

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,254 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

Are Indi and Theory intentionally gormless followers? They look like deers in headlights a lot of the time.

That Gargano backstage segment was a rambling sh1tshow.

Strong promo by O'Reilly. Can't see him winning. Whoever does will get beaten by Kross so they might as well keep it on Balor. I'm still a bit iffy on Kross.

Thought I replied in here already.

Indi and Austin are meant to be acting like kids.

Was a good episode for one that likely wasn't getting many viewers. Some interesting matches for next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,892 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Looking forward to tonights episode, sort of a mini ppv

I don't knw would Kyle O Reily be a good NXT champion, feel its better if Finn holds onto it. Finn vs Pete Dunne or Kross could be great storylines. Lets hope no injuries for either men this time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Until recently I wouldn't have put Kyle as a main eventer but they took a chance and it paid off, so he could be good as champ. Plus he needs a belt to play guitar on

He has potential to be huge.

WWE will tear that down and rebuild him in their image.

Has the potential to be mishandled worse than Aleister Black.

Come on Priest your better here than on the main roster

So Lumis is just going stay and draw pictures and mess around with the lights

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,892 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Jesus 205 Live is still a thing i guess if a main roster guy is facing an NXT guy for the Cruiserweight title

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,892 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

These 2 would eat ya without salt

That kick from Xia Li definitely wasn't meant to hit that hard or the other girl forgot to put her hands up.

Bit of a gash there on Finn, decent match and happy he retained. He's not a heel but not a face either

    Church vs State.

Not big on Priest precisely because he reminds me too much of Corbin.

Thats why Vince prob has a bone for him

Based on some interviews I've seen of Priest he comes across a bit knobbish, but he does have a special something.

He could be big if handled right.

Women's tag tournament could be a way to get exposure for some of the lesser seen women.
    I'm assuming we'll have Candace/Indi, Kacy/Kayden, Dakota/Raquel.

Xia looking well. Hope they don't throw her in a match with Io too soon. Let her win a few matches in the coming weeks.
Boa will probably have a match next week.

Takeover on Valentine's Day. Will they use the Valentine's Day Massacre name?

Feck it's hard to believe at last years February NXT Takeover event we got the announcement of the NXT UK Dublin Takeover event which was suppose to be that April but then moved to October and then moved to June 2021 and more than likely might never take place :(:(

    Being replaced with Norton?

Meant to say last week, I laughed when Regal said Aoife Valkyrie's name. He said it so Aoife rhymed with Beefy.

The awards were voted for by fans? How many of the voters would watch NXT UK

Aoife Valkyrie will probably have to change her name so as not to get confused with Taya Valkyrie.

Nope, Taya is married to John.

Or Taya comes in as Taya, dropping the Valkyrie part

The NXT roster is getting a bit stale

Anyone in the Indies who can make the step up and be an NXT main eventer ??

Well we did get a tag team debut with MSK. Dunno why Vic Joseph referred to them as "These rascals" at one point. :)
But yeah 2 thirds of The Rascalz debuted under their new names. Trey was absent

Kacy/Kayden vs Mercedes/Toni in the opening of the women's tag tournament. I'm sure the match will go longer than we would expect.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,254 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

MSK is one of those "what the ****?" names but hopefully their work can see them through. Great to see them debut.

I'm liking the vibe of Xia Li's stable and it's probably good that she has short matches given her...er....history with being a bit too loose in the ring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,892 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

So will Finn get pissed off at UE helping him and getting into his business or vice versa. Finn vs Pete Dunne could be a great feud. Finn joining up with UE would end in an inevitable turn for someone (which could work if the right people are chosen)

Wonder are they keeping Kross in the background and he will get the title shot at takeover before mania

Goofy Gargano and his stable are slowly growing on me as is Lumis.

Fairly meh fan of tag wrestling but some match ups in the Dusty tournament to come

Damn, if that is true it's not looking good for Finn. With his history of injuries it's only going to convince people he's injury-prone.

Right now nobody. When NXT launched you had a wave of guys who'd worked the top level indies for years, who were polished and seasoned who were able to step into main event NXT spots straight away and who also had built in fanbases (think PAC, Zayn, Steen, Cole, Roddy Strong, O'Reilly, Ricochet, Alleister Black, Chris Hero, Matt Riddle) and that was a result of, up until that point, Johhny Ace's policy of signing athletes rather than pro wrestlers and there being a lack of choice for these guys to go to (NJPW eventually emerged as a feasible option from 2013 onwards, but even then there's only so many spots for non native talents to fill) so WWE had a captive group of ready made guys to choose from. That's no longer the case. The scene has run dry with 4/5 companies all competing for talent, guys get signed long before they're ready at even the slightest hint of talent and (Joe Lanza talks about this constantly) today's big indie feds don't book wrestling companies, they match make and that's it. So even if you have a promising talent whose still on the indies, that talent never gets a chance to try different roles, to work on different aspects of their development, they're pigeonholed and there's nobody on the indie scene (nobody good) for that guy to work with to make him better. The indie scene at the moment in North America is meme wrestling and that is not headliner potential in these companies.

So you have to look deeper. In the case of AEW they've gone for local indie's and they've found some promising guys there like your Wardlows or Will Hobbs, in the case of WWE they've been aggressive in signing wrestlers during contract season. Maybe they can sign a wrestler with name recognition and he'd jump in as a headliner (the last one being Kross that they did that with) but right now the top level indie scene is not the place to look for main event talent to replenish NXT.
