Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok, I've logged into the Irish Site and set up a new account (basic package). with Revolut card and correct mobile phone number.

Do I now need to wait 1 month? i.e. until they bill me again? and then cancel the Irish subscription?

Or do I cancel the subscription at anytime before the month is up, then wait until I can no longer view channels?
And at this point try the VPN/Turkey Route?

    TIA

I have successfully set up a Family Premium account and have 2 spaces available. PM me if you would like to join

Was the VPN the issue or the card you tried to use? I use VPN Unlimited and its giving me the Problem with your payment method.

I think it was the vpn that was the problem. but others had problems with revolut not working but then no problem with curve. I've been at it so long now I can't remember if I tried curve last time or was today the first time I tried curve in turkey. No I'm not sure if it was the vpn or the revolut that was the problem

You can cancel it now, and then like you said when you are no longer able to view netflix your sub will have expired. Wait a day then switch vpn on to turkey and try to sign back up. If it doesn't work try a different vpn (I used 3 or 4) if still no luck you might have to try curve but then you'll have to sign up for another month in ireland

Doesn't work. The only option is to try India and use one of those SMS services on the net. But I haven't heard of anyone who was successful.
Disney+ only started last Feb/March so most people are coming up to renewal soon.

Disney+ isn’t available in the likes of Turkey or Argentina yet as far as I’m aware.

Ok I have a turkish account set up but was not able to add payment method (my revolut). I had to use gift cards. I tried the logging in on VPN and in incognito mode as described previously on here. It did not work. I clicked on manage payment details and I got immediately redirected to the success screen saying my details will be used on next cycle. It completely skipped the details screen, I did not get to enter any details.

I closed incognito netflix and turned off the VPN and logged back in normally.

I went to manage payment screen where you add card details and copied the URL.

I went back to incognito netflix in Turkey and then pasted the URL into the browser.

I was then presented with the card details screen and was able to enter and save the details (revolut) successfully.

So this worked for me and may work for others who already have the turkish account but can't add details.

I cancelled my sub on 22nd Jan so I’ve another while to go yet.

I’ve always used my AIB visa debit card for billing. Tonight I have updated my payment details to my Revolut virtual card in advance of my planned move to Turkey.

Has this been an issue for anyone or should I have left the same card details for the last successful transaction on file?

Worst case scenario just pay another month on the Irish sub with the Revolut

Just got a notification from Revolut for a €1 test transaction so it could be fine.

Worst case scenario I have an account I can use for free but I would prefer my own at €4.50. Netflix raising their price to €17.99 was the last straw for me :D

Same here few months back but when it came to renewal in turkey, wouldn't accept payment method. I also thought it would be grand after the €1 transaction but no. Is it not revolut that many here were having trouble with? I changed to curve last month and I finally successfully renewed in turkey yesterday

Been doing that since November and the frustration was driving me barmy. After finally managing it yesterday, I felt like cancelling it. What's the point now that I have accomplished my goal 😆😂

But did you pay for a month's Irish subscription with your Revolut card before cancelling as has been very clearly explained?

Also is your Revolut a prepaid card or a debit card? Revolut prepaid cards are NOT accepted.

ya paid for 1 month with revolut , card is debit . might be vpn issue but pricing is coming in in turkish lira.

ill try again tomorrow with diff vpn

Has anyone had any success with NordVPN? That’s the only paid one I have access to. I can try the free Hola one anyway.

Nord VPN will not work with Netflix.

Express vpn will get netflix US.

To be honest though there is little difference between US & Irish content. Years ago there was massive difference but now, not so much. I very rarely use the US version of netflix

Weird issue here. I need to change my payment method (change my card) but every time I do I get an error saying "There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use."

I've used a new revolut card and a curve card. Tried both on a turkish VPN but both failed. I tried using incognito mode with a VPN, but when I try login to netflix it says my password is wrong. Turn off the VPN and the same password logs in no problem.:confused:

Someone had mentioned earlier about changing a setting to allow your vpn to work while in incognito mode

^ you can’t usually change payment method using the Turkish site, best option is to bounce back to Ireland for a month and back to Turkey again

So cancel my netflix, let it expire, restart my membership on Irish netflix with new payment details (irish card/revolut), cancel it, let it expire, VPN onto Turkey and restart my membership via Turkey with new payment details (revolut)?

You need to allow one payment to go through in ireland from the card you intend to use when you "move" to turkey.
No need to cancel in ireland yet. just update payment, allow a payment to go through then cancel. 1 or 2 days after your sub expires vpn to turkey and restart membership

  • Registered Users Posts: 269 ✭✭snoopy84

Just make sure your updating details and contact numbers on irish site.

  • Moderators Posts: 12,384 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

Hmmm. i've cancelled my turkey netflix, and i'm trying to restart my membership via Ireland (so I can restart the whole process again) but it keeps giving me the same error
"There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use."

Even trying to pay using paypal it craps out when I click "continue to paypal". Somethings funked with the account.

I had to change payment methods last year (lost bloody bank card) but I’ve just been running with 100TL gift cards Since then; painless. Couldn’t be arsed myself switching back to irl, even for the month.

If you keep using various payment methods netflix will lock the account for 24/48 hours
Try a different device tomorrow using incognito

Yeah. Stopped working yesterday. I'll leave it a couple of days so and try again. I l know my wife (it's her account) tried putting in every credit card she had when her revolut card died (long story, irrelevant), so could very likely be blocked.

Tried that. Bought a 75TL gift card.... which will be text to me phone number
Never going to happen. I just left it, that €8 isn't worth chasing.

Had been getting them from Gavimo but i just checked there and they’ve bumped up the price to €14 for the 100TL ( approx 2.5 mths worth)- had been getting them cheaper. I’m loaded up until June so I’ll worry about it nearer the time. I suppose ‘worry’ is a bit of an exaggeration :-)

Netflix USA: "We’re updating our prices to bring you more great entertainment. Your monthly price will increase by $1 to $13.99 on February 28, 2021."

And this is the lower quality, not the 4K package... hardly used it past couple months - so that's a bye from me.

Where is it still possible get a good deal from? Thanks.

For anyone having problem signing up to Turkey, I just signed up to South Africa. Between 9-10 a month for premium. A lot easier than signing up to Turkey and still a significant saving

Sorry, but there have been a few issues for people here, myself included when signing up to Netflix Turkey. I've switched netflix account a few times now with exchange rates and tx changes recently.

I eventually got signed up to Turkey but not as straight forward as you make out!! Well done to your 11 year old nephew!

Personally Ive moved a number of accounts over to Turkey and Ive only has issues once, and that was when the person tried it themselves first a couple of times and there was a freeze put on their accounts. The easiest way is not to do everything in one go. Change your card payment details mid month and then a few days later cancel your Irish account. Once your account has then been cancelled, log in via Turkey and reactivate. This has been fool proof for any of the ones I did and the say for people who I told how to do the same.

    How did you get that?

Think it was the disney plus thread beginning of lockdown. Few people started families and I got in on one. Think some others create one with actual family members.
I think it's 5 screens you get and you can create your own profile. But after years of being the only one paying for a premium netflix account my real family can feck off. Strangers on boards much more trustworthy 🙂

Do you know if the card in your account was a prepaid card ? If so maybe get a virtual card and try that. All of their new cards are supposed to be debt, rather than prepaid
