Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hadnt noticed that, your budget was just reducing ?

Purchased a player, and x amount was going to be taken from my budget, but substantially more was taken wiping my budget out. Had to delay a transfer, couldnt offload any players at all, so couldnt get the player i needed

I think I'm going to start a new save, I started with United and nearly all the squad were off on holidays until early August because of the World Cup. so my already thread bare squad got decimated with injuries during pre-season and this continued into the season starting.

I'm starting to sound like Jose :D

I haven't had much chance to try it out yet. I always start unemployed and I'm wondering if the crowds and audio for the lower league clubs is in any way improved. Huge cheers at a Vanarama Southern match just doesn't fit. Audio in general can be very bad with the cheers from an earlier incident still easing as you score a goal it doesn't change presumably because it's stuck still enacting the previous audio event.

Turning off the audio is probably one of the first things I do when I get a new FM

Well.. Football Manager is to choose a lower league team with the distant goal of winning the Champions League :D

Am I the only one who hasn't the patience for a proper bottom to top style of game?

I usually try and overtake Ferguson's record with an already established team, although my big saves last year with Chelsea, Leeds and Milan all had Jose doing far too well with United and himself passing Ferguson by way more than I realistically could

I have tried but I cant stick the lower leagues.

One challenge I have tried regularly in the last 2 or 3 versions is to get Notts Forest back in the champions league and then to win it again. Haven't even managed to get promoted in the last 2 versions. I will be trying that save after a season or two with United. (and failing miserably)

I do best of both worlds and add a manager, so manage two teams in same universe.

I remember in fm15 i had four managers on the go!

Any idea when the patch will be released or has it been already? I don't want to start a game if there's a patch on the horizon.

I'm having thoughts of buying it. Still on 15.

Always enjoy it but then after wasting about 4 weeks of clicking what is essentially a really nice spreadsheet I always think I'm wasting my life.

Ahhh, I'll buy it now and deal with the regret later.

spent an hour looking at the teams and leagues and I just couldnt decide

Might just have to use the random option

    My plan is

-some team in the 4th tier of England.
-Get them up to Prem / Champo.
-Manage Fulham whereever they are by then
    -Get them to Europe
    -Lazio
-Win everything, sun oneself on banks of River Tiber.

    Or something like that.

I get excited about editing the game as I do playing it.
I created an All-Ireland league in FM17 - it took me weeks.

    Am I weird?

Just bought this an hour ago, really looking forward to getting into it. Had an itch for some fm for a couple of months now, but I wanted to wait until this released and reviews seem good for it.

Just took control of Curzon Ashton as I've never heard of them, and I'm going to see how far I can get relying on youth intake only. It should be a good challenge :pac:

What's the cheapest price out there than anyone here has found?

Got it with CD Keys last year for a little over €30, they're doing it for €33 this year but can't say I have any loyalty to them if anyone knows of a cheaper place

Injuries has not changed for me. Seems like every game I get 1 or 2 players getting knocks that requires substitution

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,375 ✭✭✭Sin City

Ended up managing Ajax, will try and use the youth system, and if I have to buy a player he has to be under 20 years., should be fun or frustrating

On pl game 2 with Chelsea, already lost Willian (4 months), Giroud (2 months) and Kante (4 weeks)

Same crap different year, why is there always an injury problem at the start

    Barkley rejects contract from Wolves

    Eff off Barkley

And now Traore is annoyed he's not in the Europa League squad, even though he's cup tied and I couldn't register him

    Eff off

That's the one really annoying thing with the squad issues, just feel like telling them to get on with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,772 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

I dont mind general squad issues, but when they cant be helped its a fecker

I think this year players complaining about lack of playtime is a lot quicker, thats getting annoying fast

Second round champions league, lose 4-1 away to Napoli.

Go 1 nil down at home, the comeback is on in what was a mental game, pogba scpred a peno, 1-1 mata scored right at half time. Pogba again scored 3-1 , then last few minutes get another peno and pogba missed, until Juan Mata scored and draws the tie.

Extra time Napoli get two players sent off, both team are wrecked, Pogba misses another penalty.

    End up winning on penalties.

    What a match!

Anyone else having problems with the game updating on Steam, starts downloading the update then right at the end it says update blocked, have changed servers from ireland to uk and back again in steam setting but still get the same issue.

In other news just signed Fekir for Liverpool at end of season but Salah is off to Madrid. Just won league and i lost in final of European cup 2-1 to Juventus. Will change system now to 4-2-3-1 with Fekir behind Bobby Mane and Pavon, with Lucas Paqueta to supplement them

Paqueta developed into a first teamer in first season in my save and won player of the year and young player of the year. the more game time the better.
Celtic had a left back Tierney - bought for big bucks 42/43 million. Turns into a cracker and good captain! not seen him mentioned anywhere else

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 521 ✭✭✭Shaunoc

I haven't had many clubs looking for my big players (Arsenal) for transfers in comparison to previous FM.
actively have to offer them out at a discount

How far in are you? Id kind of expect that in your first season at Arsenal as they have largely underachieved before then.

Yeah he has been great for me in a 4-3-3 playing as attacking playmaker centrally, need more depth in midfield and Fekir looks quality so couldnt resist. Also gives me option to go 4-3-2-1 in certain games depending on injuries or opposition. Tierney is great, just signed for united in my game though and i have Robbo anyway so will go with a young backup to develop, currently agreed a fee for lewis of Norwich.

Brexit has just kicked in for me so am limited on foreign players so need to start scouring england or signing lots of youngsters

trying to offload wellbeck and a few more

Nearly finished first season managng Chelsea, sitting 6 points clear. 6th round of FA cup coming up, still in Europa League & haven't conceded in 9 games now. Probably my best run in any FM at the minute. :D

In my 5th season with United. Would recommend Joao Felix and Everton to purchase.

I bought an 18 year old regen from a German team who is already rated at 4.5 stars. He is German captain and led them to a world cup final which they lost to .....Sweden. Seems like a winter world cup in Qatar does strange things.

The world cup as expected messes up the fixtures. The premier league starts in July and the world cup break begins early November and then the competitive fixtures resume on new years eve. No fifa club world cup for 22/23 season

I mean Sigurdsson and some of the English youths like Davies and Lookman are decent, but to buy a whole club? Bit far no......

Or maybe you bought that Brazilian winger Everton

Seems to be a load of wonderkids in the Croatian league

Found one USA regen 18 year old who is miles better Doolberg

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 521 ✭✭✭Shaunoc

looks to be more attacking mid left wonderkids than any other position. Could do with some fullbacks.
Or perhaps my scouts are biased.
Antonio Marin is a must for AML and the Turkish lad Unger as AMR

Signed Tierney for Chelsea, got him for €27m in November of the first season to arrive in January, typical 2 days after transfer is confirmed he's out for 5-6 months so basically out for the season

Bought Eric Dier for 40m since he was transfer listed by Spurs, snapped him up quickly and gave decent wages since a few others were in for him since I wanted a homegrown dm

Turns out the fecker isn't homegrown and didn't realise until I registered him, he actually spent his youth in Portugal, raging even though he's still a decent player :(

the homegrown is important as the 17 player foreigner rule kicks in.
kinda makes you bring through one or 2 younger players that I normally wouldn't and pay over the odds for other HGN players. Luckily Arsenal have a few very good younger players (Nelson, Lopez, Smith-Rowe)
I am saying pennies for Pickford for next transfer window as having 2 foreign keepers is crazy.
Tottenham have an Irish striker too - Parrot, worth looking at

Being Chelsea I have sweet fa options, so overpaying is what I done for Dier :pac: Bought back Ake for the same price Bayern took Rudiger for so easy change

5/6 years into a career I usually have 3-6 regens I bought in time to have them homegrown, for me it's only the first couple years that are a balls

Forster was transfer listed for 9m so he's a solid hg backup for me for a few years anyway. Nelson is looking better than Hudson-Odoi so hoping to nab him or Sancho depending on his hg status since I'll be sure to watch out for that now

First season with Chels, 28 games in. Conceded just 1 goal in 10 games, which was In the Europa League. GD of 46 in the premier league, sitting 10 points top of the league.

Just coming up to 24 hours played and loving every minute!
