Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Few of the random amateurs posting their groups on twitter, I'd imagine the full listings will be out soon

    There's a holding page ready...

Its very heavily stacked towards the afternoons, especially Monday, which suits me.

Tiger playing with the Smurfits again, hmm, the odds of that.

I hope they have improved a bit.

Anyone know if there will be a few grandstands up. Have a wife halfway through pregnancy and will need a few places to rest for a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,833 ✭✭✭Golfgraffix

    No grandstands at all

Booked into the carpark but not sure if I'll make Tuesday so the lad taking the cap will have a different car reg. Anyone in the same boat? Also never got the carpark passes so hoping I'll get in okay

Got an email the other day to say that car registration doesn't have to match the one that booked. Just wear your hat and have your parking permit and all is good

Surprised to see Keith Pelley down to play.

Great stuff thanks. Unfortunately the permit never arrived either but I have the email confirming. Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,388 ✭✭✭macslash

Also wondering where would be best to set up? I was thinking near the 1st tee or green. Don't think I'll follow around. Not sure though.

Was at the Irish open Thursday and just tested positive for covid this morning. Absolutely ragin, bought the tickets when they came out first in 2019 when they were €50 for the two days. Such bad luck avoided the pox for 2.5 years. Probably the last time to see tiger and a field so good.

All the amateurs are getting free TaylorMade clubs as part of their goodie bags, all custom fitted for them on the range

The last gaa classic I played in we got a bottle of water, a banana and a mars bar 🤣

The last time it was played, it was €100,000 to enter a team. Those that played with Woods paid €500,000 apparently. This year I was told it was €500,000 to enter a team, not sure how true that is but I wouldn’t be surprised. Definitely 6 figures though.

Looking at the list, I'd be stuck between Paddy and JT, not that I would be paying that amount, good luck to those that can afford it

Did anyone manage to park somewhere today without booking ahead? Trying to figure how to approach travelling tomorrow. I’d also happily purchase a parking ticket for tomorrow from anyone that has one spare 😃

Why would anyone even watch this crap?? A bunch of self-obsessed celebrities playing golf, everyone just there because they have more money than brains. The only sport worse than golf is golf being played by celebrities.

All the amateurs, they're all just rich people who want to play with the pros right? Each amateur has to pay around 150k to play?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,355 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

Love Island is way better than even normal golf, let alone this freak show version of golf.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,163 ✭✭✭chicorytip

Judging from the list of names above there appears to be two categories of amateur. The "celebrity" kind, like Michael O'Leary, who can probably well afford to donate 50 k to his chosen charity and then you have ordinary golf fans - members of local clubs - who could not afford to. The biggest stars, Woods, Thomas and McIlroy are paired with the wealthiest amateurs, Desmonds, McManus's and Smurfits.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,607 ✭✭✭newport2

Or to know someone willing to fork out. Might be mistaken, but I can't see Phil Hogan or Charlie McCreevy paying that sort of money.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,239 ✭✭✭Pussyhands

I'm thinking of the likes of Keith Wood. I'd hardly see him as wealthy enough to be spending 50k to play a round of golf..

Or does the celeb golfer pay for most of the team?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,355 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

There’s something insanely creepy about seeing a family with unlimited money getting to play with Tiger in this

As an aside point - Tiger walking so gingerly

    any reason?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,837 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Would’ve liked to have it being a case of someone with a realistic way of qualifying to get the chance to play with him

Not ‘we pay as much as possible to play with him’

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,894 ✭✭✭monkeybutter

    yeah

have money or be famous, that is how you qualify

    not that creepy
