Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I watched the Tiger documentary series over the last few nights.

It wasn't bad, but learned nothing much new that we don't already know from reading the various books. I agree with someone above, the first episode was better. There was some great footage with Earl and Tiger in what everyone knows was a clearly dysfunctional relationship. As someone said, he was raised as a machine.

Notable that Faldo was the only prominent pro to take part in it, i.e., he was interviewed. OK, Rocco Mediate was interviewed too in the context of the US Open in 2008. But no other pros or any of Tiger's coaches took part. Williams was interviewed alright, and mentioned being dropped as caddie as we know.

But for Faldo to take part means he doesn't really give a flying f**k what Tiger thinks of him. Actually anything he said was praising Tiger for being phenomenal, etc. Still, you can imagine that Faldo won't be on Tiger's Christmas card list any more, even in the unlikely event he was before. The Master's champions dinner at Augusta in April should also be interesting.

gotta say that documentary was even sadder than you would have imagined it

You'd feel sorry for him after that

I'm sure we have all seen GAA parents and the like, but not quite on that level

he seems to be reasonably rounded all things considered

I didn't realise his mother was nearly as bad as his father for pushing him on the golf course.

“My son is my gift to the world” “He will change the world” “He’ll eclipse Mandela, Gandhi” ....I have a controversial opinion. I think Earl was damaged by Vietnam and consequently was a clinical narcissist with a God complex. The extreme parenting (child abuse) caused serious damage to Tiger. As a result I believe he’s a sociopath (I’m a huge fan btw). The way he dumped his gf and cuts people out of his life after years of friendship, the using of women, the compartmentalization of emotions. Thankfully he channels it into golf and winning because in the right circumstances I believe he could be quite a dangerous person.

Obviously none of us have ever met him and don't know him at all so I'd give him the benefit really

One as bad as the other.

I loved her nickname for Phil though

I’ve met him! As in, he signed my hat at Mt. Juliet in 2003.
I was surprised by the mother too. I do wish Steve Williams would just shut up about it now though. He knows it’s the only reason anyone is interested in talking to him but surely he’s said enough at this stage, it’s tacky.

Not sure if anyone saw the coverage last night, but he did not look good. Don't think we will be seeing him at Augusta this year

Didnt see him at the presentation, just when he was chatting to Nanz for a moment. He was saying he was hoping he'll make Augusta but he didnt sound confident. But he looked alright there. Didnt really see much of him. Head and shoulders, was like being on zoom.

When you say he didnt look good was that when he was walking around, presenting the trophy? I didn't see any of that.

I saw it and I agree, it sounds like he's not even chipping at the moment, never mind making full swings. He looked and sounded like he didn't want to be there too, Nantz was dragging the answers out of him. It was painful to watch.

I agree, he didn't look great at all.

The Doc was very good. For a man that seemed flawless he had so many flaws in life.

He suffered as a kid but I guess had his parents not been so strick we would never have seen the greatest play like he did

Seriously how can you jump from not looking well on Sunday to suicide attempt?

Have you never heard of accidents?

Definitely didn't try and kill himself, unless he's a complete idiot. They did rule out him being under the influence of alcohol but made no reference the other substances which is an interesting one.

He looked a bit puffy and zonked being interviewed during the golf on sunday. Probably strong pain killers for the back operation.

  • Registered Users Posts: 699 ✭✭✭rodders999

Will lose a lot of respect for him if he’s gone out on the road loaded up on pain killers again. He could easily kill someone else or himself while out of it the wheel.

    He will be grand.

Seems a bit flippant, considering you can’t have any knowledge of his condition, and that the news we do have indicates potentially serious injuries

Would he not have a chauffeur for things of that nature where he was doing events. He was probably on his way to an airport to fly home in his jet.

Rollovers in modern cars generally aren't very serious and can look a lot worse than they are. The big danger is if the driver is not wearing seatbelt and gets ejected with the car rolling over on top of him.

Pure speculation on my part but I'd say he got badly shaken around in the car and smacked his leg on the interior. He'll probably be ok in terms of his health but this plus the recent back surgery could be the last straw that effectively ends his career on the PGA tour.

I doubt he got shaken around in the car if he had is seatbelt on. Here is what I think happened. He had to take avoiding action from a truck or lorry on his side of the road this is just what I think happened by the way as it's not known yet and there was no where to go but that way. So he took his chance and the car hit the ground bonnet first with it crippling up and the dash been pushed into the car this crushing his legs.
That is just what I think happened. Terrible to hear he is badly injured. I hope he makes a full recovery.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.
