Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

One of my favorite ones in English is Hello Internet, it mostly just compiles podcasts that I believe were originally posted in iTunes. I find they way they discuss a wide variety of topics is quite enjoyable.

So the reason I'm opening this thread is coz I'm looking for new ones to listen to/watch. I become very easily disappointed and hate any extent of click-bait, like I remember I used to enjoy Nathaniel Drew's videos but then I started to get the feeling that it was all about getting visits and that put me off his channel.

    What are your recommendations?

I find Patrick Wieland funny. He's a day trader, but he goes off the wall some times. Hilarious channel

Also there is this guy Charlie Hopkinson mashing up Lord of the Rings scenes with brexit. Covid-19 etc. Funny stuff

Mike Mitchell for the machinery he's driving, some very expensive stuff. He's just wacky enough to be very entertaining but he really does know his stuff.
Best of all he's not afraid to call out some of the manufacturers if he thinks something is a piece of sh1t.

Is there anything really worth looking at on YouTube?

Anything I look at either has really bad background music that ruins the content, or full of annoying ads, or some obnoxious person shouting into the camera.

Have a look at Hello Internet, then.

Yes loads of good archive footage from topics, and guides on how to fix any issues with your home and car..it's a fantastic resource when you cut out the bull**** vloggers (apart from bald and bankrupt).

If you're into classic cars try Harry's Garage or Iain Tyrrell's classic workshop

I preferred YouTube when it was mostly funny videos and wrestling mishaps, with some music too. That’s going back a bit in fairness.

No interest in nobodies taking ****e or idiots shouting while playing video games.

    And so many ads.

Geekdom101 or WorldofGeekdom depending on your channel of preference.

Literally went from homeless to being a home owner in 10 years.

Even if you don't like his Dragon Ball content the Speakdoms are very inspirational and thought provoking.

Here's one for these uncertain times:

    Inspiring? Youtube content creators?

Jesus no... Vast majority is throw away rubbish that I'd watch whilst eating a bowl of cereal to waste a few minutes or some high level players of games I like in order to try and git gud but I wouldn't put inspiring and youtube together. It's a load of fake shyte for the most part.

Tom Scott has some really good knowledgable stuff on his main channel. Lots of good, interesting short videos.

Colin Furze does some great things . His bunker he built in his back garden is something else.

Both of these worked together years ago on a sky one show called gadget geeks. A show I'd forgotten about and forgotten who was in it till I'd been watching both their channels for a few months without realising their connection to each other for the show.

And Project Binky, Bad Obsession Motorsport

What are you interested in. There is plenty of good content for those interested in baking, cooking, physics, pop-science, maths, gaming etc. etc.

There is reams of ****e but it's easy to not see it by not clicking into it.

    Veritasium and CGP are excellent.

For history, Military History Visualised and Simple History are really well researched.

Practical Engineering and Real engineering are also high quality content.

Inspiring? Smidge of a stretch there

That Canadian Home Renovision guy has been very useful for a few DIY projects I've done

When I was researching tech for a TV purchase a few years ago I found that HDTVTest and RTings were the best of the bunch, still give them a look now if something interesting gets released.

I'm not that into cars but will watch a carwow review when they pop up.

Weird guilty pleasure is some guy who tranforms transfomer toys. I can't even bring myself to click on them, I just watch the autoplay screen in the list of other videos. I'm so ashamed. . . .

I don't know about inspiring but I do enjoy:

The videos of CPG Grey (though his latest stuff isn't as interesting, I'm finding): https://www.youtube.com/user/CGPGrey/featured

    Historia Civilis: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv_vLHiWVBh_FR9vbeuiY-A

His History of Rome sequence is probably the best place to start.

And lately I've been enjoying the comedy stylings of Caroline Konstnar: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAG1ABZP-c7wuNt0fziHtsA

    In terms of actually inspiring?

It'd have to go to Marques Brownless, aka MKBHD. Started off a few years ago as a young man doing a simple review of a remote control for his laptop, with a true and genuine passion for tech and filmography.

He's now got 11 million subscribers, numerous companies have attempted to poach him to be their tech review lead, he's interviewed Bill Gates twice, Elon Musk and many more.

Inspired no, but ones I find entertaining/informative

    Not Another Cooking Show
    Food Busker
    Pro Home Cooks
    Lindybeige
    Chael Sonnen
    Ryan Cleckner
JennaMarbles - used to be a guilty pleasure

First they came for the socialists...

My YouTube suggestions is full of Curb Your Enthusiasm videos. Larry David is a genius.

Oh and there is also a fair amount of David Savery electrical videos....

Up until recently my feed was full of kids videos as my daughter used to use my tablet from time to time......thankfully they are gone, god bless YouTube Kids.

Maybe not inspiring necessarily but Bald and Bankrupt trips around Russia and former Soviet republics are always interesting and fun to watch. His trips around Chernobyl are particularly good meeting some of the villagers that remained after the evacuation.

Yeah, I think CPG has lost his edge over the last year. His videos (on either Veritasium or his own channel) are mostly time-fillers for me now.

In terms of inspiration, as in "get off the internet and do something" Li Ziqi is the only one who ticks that box for me. Without exaggeration, I'd say my garden is looking the way it does at the moment because of her! She doesn't say a word, no "wotzup, y'all" time-wasting intro, no "please like and subscribe" terminal monologue - just pulls on a pair of wellies, heads out into the fields to do cool, hard-core rural stuff and couldn't give a f**k about vegan sensibilities. :p
