    Hi

I see people in the gym with these bands.
They have to step in to them and have them just above the knee or below the knee etc. They are closed loop and only about a couple foot long I’d say.

People do squats with them. Hip thrusts etc

What is the purpose of these bands?

Usually a way of working muscles like the glute med, for example. Sideways walks etc adds a bit of resistance to that movement and glute med works a bit to get it warmed up.

Also makes you push the knees out during movements. For example, people tend to let their knees collapse in on squats and using a mini band above the knees force people to be more conscious of keeping knees pushed out against the band and so they have that feeling of pushing knees out.

On hip thrusts it's basically just a way of working more of the glute muscles and again it involves pushing knees out against the band to work glute med.

Ah ok. Thanks. Perfect explanation. So essentially a way for you to think about pushing knees out on squat and hip thrust.

What’s the difference between a mini band and a glute band?

Or when would you use one over the other?
