The road around the old Perks/train station by the Strand has been relaid. It was in poor condition and is part of the run route.

I'd imagine the road by east ferry will get done too on the cycle route. Its in terrible condition and I'd imagine the locals have been pushing for it to be done for a good while. Not sure what the bike route beyond dungourney towards youghal is like.

Mike Reilly did TX when I was there in April, great guy and good to have him for Cork, does a nice job for finishers, especially later on when you go back to bring in the very late finishers. I listened to this to pass the time on a long training run, maybe some of you will find it interesting. Good luck with training for Cork!

Folks, what do you guys normally wear for full distance? Do you go for outfit changes at each leg or just one full tri suit all the way?

I'm thinking I need to buy a tri suit, any tips on the best one for long distance?

I wear a two piece Tri suit for ironman distance. Used 2xu which was comfortable but wore incredibly badly and had to be replaced by them twice, so don't go with them! Two piece is much easier for any toilet stops.

For the run, I did change from tri shorts to normal running shorts. Just feels much more comfortable and you don't lose any time doing that. There's a lot to me said for the feeling of some fresh gear.

I see they are already preparing themselves for walking up the hills on the bike course over on the Facebook group.

Couple of questions regarding the ‘final’ bike route...
Is the road surface any better on the rerouted section from saleen to Midleton?
Is windmill hill now at the end of each loop?

Is there a detailed link to the cycling route being used?

Has anyone got up windmill hill with a 39 front and 28 rear comfortable..just wondering is that enough

Just a 34 / 28 for me. Not sure I’d say comfortable. I’ll be hitting on the day With 36/30

Does anyone know roughly how many metres of climbing there are on the bike course?

Am i missing something, its only 400mtrs long? Why on earth would you need that sort of gearing, its not the Alps you guys are climbing. The spacing with your gearing with a 30 on the back will be awful.

I honestly cannot think of any climb in Ireland (long enough) to warrant that sort of gearing.

That's mad, more climbing in Ironman Cork (on the flat side of the county) than Ironman Austria (in the Alps)

You’ve never gone up to the mast on Mt Leinster so :)

2000m climbing is very manageable over 180km. Very similar to the ROK and Tour De KK.

You underestimate my poor cycling ability. And my unwillingness to spend any money changing anything on my new bike. ;):D

    Bike Course finalised.

The poor surface from Mount Uniacke thankfully looks to be cut going via Inch on what looks a consistent surface.

Windmill Hill taken via Church Street.
