Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any American phrase shoehorned into an argument about something uniquely Irish. For instance that traveller thread where 'racists' were being "called out on their racist behaviour".

The acronym AKA stands for Also Known As meaning a pseudonym. Recently I've seen it used to mean 'for example'. It sounds absolutely ridiculous.

Using the word Super before words such as, tired, busy, important. Very isn't sufficient any more! Absolutely hate this for no apparent reason. Super annoying! Grrr...

  • Registered Users Posts: 586 ✭✭✭Treble double

"ring fenced" "job of work" that bull**** political speak annoys me "political suicide" "political football" .
People that use this have a limited vocabulary range and think these phrases make them sound intelligent, I'm looking at you Ivan Yates.

In Gaa punditery the top players on teams are always described as "real leaders" . Now every mickey mouse club manager is talking about the leaders in his team when they win or the lack of leaders when they lose. Lads on television trying to find different ways of saying good players have a lot to answer for.

    I hate that expression

    Wanderlust!!!

Especially if it's describing an annual holiday as opposed to a free spirit on a one way ticket around the world, although I really dislike it any context.

    In golf.

    Davis Love the third.
    Harold Varner the third.

Bull**** as the other two Loves and Varners aren’t playing. Pretentious rubbish.
Just call them Davis Love and Harold Varner.

Or worse again, "She got herself pregnant", frequently used by my mother. The amount of women she knows who've had an Immaculate conception is astounding.

Snowflake, used to describe anyone with a differing viewpoint to yours to try and belittle them or invalidate their opinion because you see it as soft. I tune out as soon as I see or hear it used because its no longer a debate its a bad slagging match.

When someone says "that's a (very) good question", it usually indicates that they need time to think of a response and are using that expression as a way of buying a bit of time so that they can gather their thoughts.
