Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He has spoken a lot about a fight with GSP before he retires but that would be a greatest vs greatest type duel..

Except GSP is retired. Can't see him coming back to fight Khabib.

POTUS tweeting support for one of the sport's competitors and he's on 45k basic. Not a good look for the organisation.

Even if he did he's not prime GSP. Not sure it's really fair to match them up now, even if both accepted the fight

I'm sure he has a few lucrative sponsership deals as well, I don't think the Colby household has any trouble keeping lights on.

Must be very hard for up and coming fighters though trying to commit to it full time while getting peanuts.

45/45 is awful money for a main event fighter, particularly if he loses. They have enormous expenses as pro fighters, the UFC are still only covering flights and accom. for 1 coach. Its appalling while White gambles millions in casinos around LV.

Yeah, at Colby's level it is terrible in fairness. I see Lawler got 220k....makes sense obviously given his long standing with the UFC but crappy for Colby.

The Reebok deal really hammered home how **** the pay for fighters is.
Previously, the sponsorship took the sting out of the ****ty pay, now that it's gone, it's become very hard to make a living from it unless you're very well known/ have external sponsor deals/ been around a while to make more by having fought more.

Not that Dana gives 2 ****s, mind.

Ya Reebok deal is terrible, Askren was saying he could get six figures from shorts sponsorship before, he only got 3,500 on his last fight as he's only just in the door.

I mean a nobody could pick up 20/25k in local sponsorship at a minimum with a televised fight in the UFC.

It's nonsense moaning that they're not getting paid lads. The money's there if they can earn it. McGregor, Jones, Gsp ect are very wealthy from fighting. That's capitalism. The cream rises to the
They're aren't forced to fight in the UFC either, or even fight atall.

Lower tier UFC fighters get much more money than undercard boxers.

Of course not, but 45K for Colby as a high-ranked contender for a main card is pretty crap in fairness.

He is the number 2 ranked welterweight in the largest MMA promotion in the world. Its ****e pay no matter what way you dress it up. Someone of that caliber should be on a min. of 100k to show.

Possibly. That's his an his management fault then if he's not getting what his worth. He isn't popular atall, hated or loved. Just a quick flick through UFCs and ESPN social channels and you'll see he gets very few clicks compared to everyone else

How are these lads eating, Colby only on 45/45k for that fight, he hasn't fought in a year. Shocked he didn't get the 50k performance bonus, that was absolute 5 round clinic.

Colby is a company man also 😂

    It's disgraceful to be Fair

Fair point too. Personally I find him boring, guess that says a lot.

    McGregor is an exception.

GSP and Jones probably made money back when they could have sponsors, plus they'll have outside sponsorship deals. Well, GSP will anyway.

The problem is the lower tier guys being able to afford this as a career to make big money eventually. With that kind of pay and their overheads, it's near impossible.
There could be contracts that haven't expired yet, that will stop them from being able to fight for other promotions, Dana and co have no trouble throwing money at their legal team to stop people ending their contracts.

A big part of it is a management issue, also the lack of a union to stand up for the fighters to demand better pay overall.
The Reebok deal was a disgraceful money grab that ****ed over all but the top .5% of the roster.

Remember when McGregor first appeared in UFC, those iconic white shorts with Joe.ie plastered all over his backside...
