Right. I've cleaned up the thread and removed the insults towards the OP. Cardinal rule on Boards is attack the post not the poster. I've already warned people once. Next time you'll be banned if you do it. Fair warning.

You sticking up for him is strange.
I hate to break it to you, but unless the company laptop was used to dig through the dark web and not mainstream porn sites you won't find underage porn. Most porn comes from America and is heavily regulated, especially on the legal age aspect and any site that breaks that rule will be hit hard legally. Other countries who produce the stuff are very similar. Never mind that "teen" usually means anyone not over 30. As one ex porn actress noted with some amusement she'd regularly do a "teen" shoot in the morning and do a "MILF" shoot in the afternoon.

I'm not sticking up for him, just interpreting a sentence written in English. I don't know why you are talking about porn.

Was't there a story about a featured model on pornhub who was trafficked and underage?

Oh I'm quite sure it happens TD and is yet another of IMHO the long list of the troubling aspects of porn and how it's become strangely mainstream, even "respectable", which is another debate in of itself.

There are a few stories like this, but seems that once identified, they're dealt with quickly. Unfortunately I doubt they go to great lengths to verify age. If you can easily get a fake ID to buy alcohol, surely you can do the same to act in porn.

I'd like to think I would judge everyone on their own merits and not just because of their age. As cliche as it sounds; it is just a rather meaningless number especially once you've hit your mid to late 20s.

"A teenager, or teen, is a person who falls within the ages of 13 to 19 years old. The word "teenager" is often associated with adolescence. However the World Health Organization considers anyone between the ages of 10 and 21 to be an adolescent"

    WHO -
    Teenage Development
Adolescence is defined by the World Health Organization as a period between the ages of 10 and 19, though this can vary from one young person to another. To understand broadly the different stages, they can be described as early, mid and late adolescence. Changes occur for young people due to physical development and hormonal changes in their bodies. These changes happen in the following areas – physical, psychological, emotional and behavioural. These areas will be described in detail in the different stages as follows:
    • Early adolescence (10–13) • Mid-adolescence (14–16) • Late adolescence (17–19)

Give it a rest, you're coming across as a hysterical attention seeker. The poster literally said "between teenage years to late 20s".

Most normal people interpret that to mean 18-29 or whatever range in the context of a discussion like this one.

The fact that you yourself immediately leap to, and keep banging the drum of, paedophilia, over the simple use of a word, is in itself disturbing.

Exactly. Laila Mickelwait is a lovely bolshie woman who has been standing up to Pornhub for long ages. On her Twitter account and elsewhere she provides details regularly about the widespread abusive nature of what appears on Pornhub. There are kidnapped and underage girls who have had their rapes broadcast as porn. In their twitter feeds those girls themselves detail how they often have to engage in protracted communications with Pornhub to have their rapes removed. She is well worth a follow to know these stories. The idea that porn is highly regulated is a joke.

Oh it is highly regulated, enforcement is where it falls down as her experience shows. The fact it's not more effectively enforced is a considerable worry. And that's something more current too. Years back I watched a documentary about one period in that industry, 80's or 90's IIRC and again IIRC there was one actress who got quite popular and it was later discovered she had been 17 when she got into it with a false ID and heads rolled and the authorities got involved pretty quickly. These days it seems not so much.

The sheer volume of it these days is a large part of it, plus the rise of self shot "amateur" instagram with sex type stuff which could come from anyone or anywhere and it seems with little more verification than ticking a box on a web page. When it was mostly "professional" stuff with a small number of people involved that stuff was more likely to be caught. Like I said earlier the mainstream availability of porn and the "ah sure it's harmless" attitude is a debate that's wide ranging and we're not really having it as a society IMHO. That's before the subject of the genres of porn that are being peddled comes up.

Agreed. Especially re the debate that is not happening because Heaven forbid one commit the cardinal sin of being square.
But the fact that young girls are having to beg over prolonged times to have their rapes removed from Pornhub - which lets face it is as mainstream a company now as Twitter or any other big digital media hub - tells me it is more than weak enforcement. That is willful. Just like minor attraction discussions on Twitter are willfully left on display. Why is something I cannot guess at. Maybe the heads behind the scenes in these places ARE actually nasty types. Because if I got one single email report that something I was involved in had harmed someone there would be an instant very serious reaction on my part - yet some ones, many ones, not robots but actual humans, get these reports from victims and their reps day in day out and do nothing it seems. That is very strange.

That was part of the fall out from the sexual revolution. A great idea that mostly went towards the positive, but for one demographic, the ones who were fine with others doing whatever, but didn't want to go along with it themselves.

The issues with the likes of Pornhub, are the same issues faced with Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Periscope. It's user submitted. When you are looking at things produced professionally, that's where the regulations are at work. But when the video is uploaded by "unknown" or a weird alias that's made up of gibberish, that's where you're going to run into problems.

They all need to review very carefully how content gets submitted. Until that's addressed, these issues will persist. But I think it's unfair to say it's a pornhub problem. They are just a medium that have high accessibility like the others.

It most definitely is a Pornhub problem. They are biggest porn providers in world. They are minting it. If Gruffalox Inc was making a single penny airing rape videos, or minor abuse videos, not only would I be disgusted with myself but I would be in jail. Pornhub is no better in this regard than the vile sale of gangrape videos from under the counter in rural Indian chai stalls. You are completely right that they need to get submissions monitoring correct but it is not like they don't have the money to do that. It is also about disgusting consumer demand. The too big to monitor argument like the too big to fail argument is immoral.

I made a point of stating Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Periscope as these aren't even platforms for distributing porn. Yet still face issues with user submitted content, that is abusive and pornographic, including child porn.

They do. And they should do more to remove. But at least they are not actually selling it. If you read Laila's Twitter you will see this is a very widespread problem and girls can beg for months sometimes years and their rapes are still monetised.

I mean you are right - the internet is a hive of abusive content.

Back to the original question. I'm 31. I'd probably date someone as young as 25/26 I'd say.

ONS etc it'd be over 18 but don't think I could date someone regularly who was that young.

I know the "Half your age + 7" rule alright which would put me at 29.5+ nowadays

Generally though (and it wasn't a conscious thing) I seem to end up with younger women alright. Usually 6/7 years younger but there's been one or two who were 10/11 years younger at the time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,016 ✭✭✭Ultrflat

I'm 38, I don't think I date a girl younger then 29 any where before the for the most part the possibility is that were in different places but then again I'm in the middle of a career change so what the hell do I know.

Not being nasty..but all your threads have the same theme.

To me, It’s Brings into question your age, it reminds me of looking up “rude” words in the dictionary when I was a kid.

The question is if your immature should you be starting threads which leave you open to a fair degree of ridicule or abuse. Maybe the Mods should be vetoing your posts before your allowed start a thread.
