Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I know it might seem like a useless exercise but that's the way the system works.

    You officially log every wrongdoing.

If it's Garda issue you go to the station. If it's the County Council you go to them.

    You get the picture etc.

Eventually some Councillor or other takes up the case and starts to make noises in the right places.

If the gardai/officials who don't want to do their jobs can point to a clean rap sheet and say "no problem" you are only helping them by not reporting.

I was jumped by travellers a few years ago. The guards brought me home afterwards as I was kind of dazed. The advice from the guards was not to pursue it. I'm not the only person with this experience.

The amount of Irish people that live in fear of these thugs. It's shocking.

That's very sad but its reality. Your life no doubt would be made an absolute misery when (and there is no if about it) they found out who you are and where you lived. Some of them are pure animals who will stop at nothing to destroy you.

I like to think there is good in most people but I have to make an exception for 99% of them.

    Sorry to hear that.
    I can understand your reason.
If these criminals were policed properly there would be no need for a complainant to put them away.
There is more than enough law on the statute books.

If you are accusing me of defending antisocial behaviour, grateful if you could explain how, in your opinion, I did so.

In fairness he's right and he doesn't sound like he's defending antisocial behavior. If you don't report something then there is 100% chance of nothing being done.

Antisocial behavior has become a catch all for describing what are in many incidences crimes.

Assault, criminal damage etc. are all covered in the legislative code and any perpetrators should be dealt with according to the law.

Policing should involve earlier intervention with young people who are going down the wrong path. It's not good enough for AGS to treat crimes as ASB.

You can be sure that it wasn't their first rodeo for the thugs who assaulted Captain Redbeard.

Exactly! Its like a comment I heard about homeless people "Why don't they just get a job?". As if its just that easy, click your fingers, they don't even have an address ffs. How can they just get a job. The ignorance and stupidity of some people still surprises me.

A number of the people who are homeless need a phone with internet and they can make money. Good money.

Easy to figure out! If I dropped you in a city with no money and a phone, what would you do to get money legally?

Easy, sell my body of course. So the solution to homelessness is give them a phone, yea?

Just reading about it now. Was it on the road by the shop? Looks like there was a getaway car too? Drug related? Jeepers.

That whole stretch of road, excluding the Gaeilscoil, should be bulldozed to the ground.

What's the story with the fields across from the halting site, who owns them? City council?

Gardaí saying it may be a result of an escalation of a feud.

I dont know. I'd imagine they will have to sort out the halting site situation if they want to develop those fields for housing though. That road needs some private estates but it's hard to see anybody buying a house there as things stand.

I think a poster earlier in the thread said that Frisby owns some of the land.

You would think that but all the new private houses at the back of Sherlock walk sold this year.
The area definitely needs some private housing, but the halting site needs to be moved to a less visible place.

Im living in Waterford 3 yrs now and this was one of the areas i looked around when i was getting a gaff. Absolutely delighted i didnt get a house here. Not only would i never be able to sell it but life would be a living hell as the Gardai simply will not deal with the travellers. They are too scared of them.

Feel sorry for the people stuck there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,275 ✭✭✭Azatadine

It was on WLR about installing another 7 bay halting site up there.

Yeah, there was two big thuds. They missed the window though, thank God. They could have broken my window when my 2-year old was sitting in her baby seat, something needs to be done about the anti-social behaviour up there.

    Actually that's not anti-social behaviour.
If the car is damaged it's criminal damage.

You should consider going to the Garda Station to report the incident.
If you decide to do so insist on making a formal statement so that the incident will be recorded.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,275 ✭✭✭Azatadine

Report it . Nothing will be done when officials can genuinely say that they have had no reports as in nothing reported to gardai or through council procedures. Giving out here and on Facebook doesn't make a difference if nothing official is lodged.

I suppose you are talking about Pavee Point.
You probably know that they have no role in law enforcement.

The situation is bad enough without giving useless advice to victims of criminality.
Garda Station, report, statement, PULSE number. Only way to go.

The guards are a waste of time and every time one of these cnuts breaks a fingernail these arseholes are all over it but when the behaviour of the people they represent is appalling they go to ground. Drag these arseholes out from under their ****inf ethnically recognised rock and challenge them on the behaviour of their ****in ilk .

**** off ,bul**** pay for the damage yourself, no further enquiries, not enough evidence to bring a case blahh blahh ****in blah......

Never work , never contribute, never pay tax .

Get paid , get services , face no consequences,

Have I summed up these ****ers existence in Ireland for you. GWAN DADDIE

Get that prick John Collins raven spokesman on local radio and make him explain why the travellers illegally camped there are 1. Not moving & 2. Allowing their many kids cause criminal damage to people driving by .if these cnuts can use the media when it suit why can't we. Fcuk them a d their bulsit ethnic status

Enda Kenny our former Teeshock gave them Ethnic Status, and walked away leaving the rest of us to deal with it.

He will never have a home invasion from that cohort now. He knew what he was doing in Rural Ireland. Gobshyte.

Now with those three posts I hope you have got it off your chest and you have calmed down.

I repeat the only way to make progress is to report each and every incident to AGS. Make a statement and get a PULSE number.
The incident then becomes a statistical reality.

The next step is to contact local representatives, TDs etc and get them to put pressure on to get action.

    There are no easy answers.
