Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Lots of stuff,

New club membership and Cycling Ireland Licence and club league entry,

New shoes https://www.rapha.cc/fr/en/shop/classic-shoes/product/CLS01XXHVP (pink version of course!)

    And a new bike https://www.evanscycles.com/en-ie/scott-foil-30-2018-road-bike-EV314362

An expensive few days but with no running on the cards for the next few months I'll give bike racing a go and see how that works out!

That Scott Foil is a beauty , I’d be tempted on that myself . Running and cycling are so different . Weight falls off me running easily but cycling not so much .
    Good luck with the racing

CI race license for myself and the nipper.

£20 for a W200 event top, I quite like the design and couldn't resist a half decent quality top at that price.

Cables, brake fluid, HT2 bottom bracket as I rearrange my bikes (stripping the decent kit off the superseded full suss) changing the igh Hardtail to 1x.

Zipp 404 NSWs in the post. 13,000km out of a set of cosmics, but rear rim eventually split.

    Should stop now really...

Got a great deal on an OS99-CSI stem, and much less fun, a preload bolt for my crank arm.

Headset bearings that Canyon where supposed to ship last week but decided to send the wrong ones originally. Their customer support is also as tragic and slow as it ever was. Terrible, terrible company to deal with.

I got the Garmin 1030 bundle cheaper than many places are selling the edge on its own

So, I've a pair of Shimano mt3's, a set of M520 SPD pedals, and freewheel spline tool all winging their way to me.

Am I right in saying that the pedals come with a set of cleats?

I'd have thought they should do but if not and you're in Dublin I should have spare cleats you can have. After all, judging by your username we're basically the same person :pac:

Hambini BB30 to Shimano one piece BB on its way to me. He machined it himself for me as they were out of stock and he wasn’t sure when they’d be back in again. Couldn’t ask for a better service than that!!

Its very good, I really like the Bolt, although my prior experience is only with the Garmin 500, which was also good, just not this good.

Hopefully, my Garmin has had 2 major meltdowns so time to change it out. It will be sent back for repair once it's cost effective.

The UI isn't as snazzy but as long as it shows me numbers from sechduled workouts I'll get used to the UI.

This arrived today and been playing about with the set up. It is very different from the Garmin and will take me a little time to get used to the visuals I'd say.

Setting up various profiles on your phone is a massive plus though the name for each on the unit would be handy.

Set of wheels from fit wheels, their cheapest road rim brake alloy wheels. First time buying from them. Just need a new fork, bars and pedals and I’ll have the bike back in order.

It was invaluable on a ride a while ago when a cable came loose from one of the shifters. I couldnt really get at the cable at the roadside to fix the connection so I was able to re-program the shifting to all work off the remaining functional shifter and run in syncroshift mode 2 :)

Carbon Canti/Disc fork that should make my steel tourer usable again and give me 2 options for braking. No rack mounts, but I never used them anyway. Going to be more a long distance mile muncher.

Tacx Neo 2... Recovering from a hip issue, and physio said I need to reduce my intensity on the road. So went for the "reduced intensity" spin and got a couple of strava PB... I have no self control on the road...so indoor while I'm recovering and physio gives me the ok for full intensity :(

    Very cryptic post.
It could be an Aeroad, Ultimate or Endurace
    Also disc or rim brakes?

Canyon Ultimate CF SL 8.0 rim brake coming tomorrow . I test rode the slx version as a friend has one. Some bike to accelerate and climb . Hopefully the SL version ( albeit at less than half the price ) will still have a similar feel !

I have the CF SL 8.0...its a great bike, super fast on descents

The difference in frame weight between ultimate SL and SLX is about the same as having or not having a phone in your pocket
    Less than 200 grams.

The SLX may be slightly stiffer than the SL but I can't see that being an issue unless you are putting out enough watts that a team will want to hire you and pay for your bikes anyway.

No idea what a watt is 😀, my first bike ( since confirmation ! ) so gone way over budget already but F**k me when I tried the Ultimate SLX I just instantly made my mind up after first climb. I took two minutes off my loan bike over a nice 1.5 mile climb with less effort. When you put a bit of effort in the response is like turbo in a car 😀 . Main interest in bikes is climbing so all reviews seem to point at canyon ultimates to be as good as you’ll get .

New rear wheel with internal sturmey archer hub. 5 speed with drum brake.
I've been wanting to get rid of derailleurs etc for my everyday bike for a long time. Save a bit if hassle cleaning drive chains and changing brake pads.

From Practical cycles in UK. Tried to get it done locally but after waiting for over 2 months gave up.
