Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

lads just picked up a set of turtle beach tangos brand new from gamestop for 109.99 delivered.... absolutely crazy value.

imo one of the best headsets i have had and for 110 euro is a steal.

Gorgeous looking headset imo. Still €239 on Turtle Beach website. Can these be used full surround sound on Xbox ONE with the chat adapter for the voice?

    Hi guys,

there i am looking for a new headset for Xmas and i came across this thread. I have a set of TB X41's it seems i've had em longer than i have kids ;)) - they are on the way out, crackling a little and get inteference when downloading on laptop etc.

Anyways ... i am looking to upgrade but it must be wireless. I want Optical in cos i also use em for listening to TV/Music at nights when everyone is asleep. I normally just plug the optical into the TV but there are 2 cables if i need to go directly into the xbox as well.

I seen this today : Tritton Warhead 7.1 - 2 batteries one charges while you play and you switch em when you need to. Seem pretty decent anyone any experience on these OR recommend a decent alternative at a good price?

    Cheers.

    EDIT : http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Turtle-Beach-Earforce-XP500-Programmable-Wireless-7-1-Gaming-Headset-PS3-360-/400786905484?pt=UK_Video_Games_Headsets&hash=item5d50c2d98c ... Refurb ... opinions???

hey gang, newbie here, i've a son and he's at an age (10) where he and his mates are playing online amongst themselves (minecraft etc) looking to get him a headset as the one that came with the 360 huts his nogging, it plugs into the controller itself, I've read through this thread and I'm baffled as to how the headsets you are all chatting about connect (apologies for being so clueless) so what do you recommend and how does it connect (to the TV, the actual xbox, the controller) dont want anything to fancy 50 euro ish mark, any advice !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,207 ✭✭✭maximoose

Is this the one he has?

TBH, At that age I'd go for something cheap and cheerful, something like this perhaps? Be more comfortable but not break the bank for something that might get broken easily!

If you do want to go a bit better, can't beat the Turtle Beach X12s for under €50!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,145 ✭✭✭BobMc

yep the first link is the one he has, dont mind spending the 46 odd from argos he's good with his stuff and so far not much on the santa list ( last year I'd say too) how does this plug into the xbox, thats the confusing bit for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,207 ✭✭✭maximoose

Depends how your Xbox is connected to the TV - is it plugged in by HDMI?

    There's a guide here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,145 ✭✭✭BobMc

yeah always been connected via HDMI

Thanks, Understand now, checked tv so no Audio Out so I need to purchase that adapter with the headset also !

a nice cheap option for the xbox one is if you have a samsung phone with the earphones (ones with the built in mic) then this works as a headset and mic with the stereo headset adapter. iphone ones do work as standard headphones, but chating using the mic doesnt

  • Registered Users Posts: 9 likey

another cheap way for a headset is if you have an old pc headset lying about, the ones with two 3.5mm connectors (pink and green), then you can use a 3.5mm 4 pole splitter like the ones below

Is there any 2.4mm to 3.5mm cable available that works with the X1 Chat adapter yet? That mini adapter thing is so easy to break..

  • Registered Users Posts: 9 likey

as long as its a 4 pole one then any adapter should work.
    e.g.

thats only a 3 pole one. you need a 4 pole for it to fully work as a stereo headset and mic

**** seriously? I didn't realise there was a difference, don't know about these poles. Haven't received it yet.

That one you linked tho as far as I can tell is 2.5mm male, 3.5mm female, you need it the other way around for the chat adapter.

no as you need to 2.5mm female (socket) in the other end

this should work though now i've found one the right way round

If I were to directly attach it into my headset it should be fine as their is a female connector in there. (Astro A50s)

But the 4 pole cable should work?

The Turtle Beach Tango's aren't quite jumping out at me.

Great price definitely. However it essentially changes a wireless headset into a wired headset.

They have 5.1 surround sound, the 500X will have 7.1 totally wireless with no chat adapter needed for a little over €200.

The 500X, XO4 and XO7 where all optimized for the Xbox One whereas the Tangos were optimized for XB360 & PS3 when they were released. The positive reviews I read on Amazon date back before the Xbox One.

I think I'll go up the extra €100 and stick with the 500X.

Ahh yeah, it would be personal preference really. Personally the wire going from headset to controller doesn't bother me at all. I already have the chat adapter so I'm set to go once I receive them.

The 7.1 over 5.1 doesn't bother me at all. I went from Turtle Beach Ear Force X4 which were 5.1 to the XP500 which were 7.1 and they never sounded as good as the X4's at all :(

I'll soon find out if I like these ones, as I said I don't mind the chat cable but I could always sell them on and get the 500X in the new year :p

Good stuff, does the wire go into the headset directly or does it go into the receiver.

Yeah it goes straight into the headset from the chat adapter, same as my XP500's. You can see the port in this pic:http://cdn-assets.turtlebeach.com/products/27/images/large_image_4.jpg

As anticipated, you were indeed correct! Received it today. Game audio works fine but no chat audio like you said. I never knew about 3 pole/4 pole difference before. You learn something new everyday :D

Is there any Irish listing on ebay.ie or adverts or some website in Ireland that has this in 4 pole that I could order today and have maybe tomorrow or at least Wednesday?

Or would I get this in a music shop/ electronics shop? Waterford city or Wexford town.

Found out the other day that the Tango headset can be modded to do wireless chat on the XB1.

The 360 Bluetooth adapter that came with the headset can be dismantled and soldered to a chat adapter.
Look for Xbox one Bluetooth mod on Google.

having gone down this road with my x12's I'd only recommend it if you are really proficient at soldering / desoldering. I had to do mine 3 or 4 times before they stopped crackling or started working.

    I used this guide btw
    http://www.instructables.com/id/Xbox-One-25mm-Headset-Adapter/

the wires are tiny and whilst its still working for me now some 10 months later, there was a stage where i thought I'd never get it working.

Yeah I did see that earlier this year but don't think I'd be able for the soldering part myself. Only soldering I've ever done was basic wire, switch & led back in engineering in secondary school :P

I'd only done work with much heavier gauge wire as well. sweet jesus, the pain from burning your fingertips off a soldering iron is intense. I could hardly use the right bumper on the controller it was so bad

My tritton trigger headset is after packing in so im looking for someone to recommend a decent headset for xb1. Its mainly used for gamesound rather than chat as none of my friends have xb1, also i only want a headset with the 1 wire going to the adaptor . And about 70eur would be my limit thanks

The XO One by Turtle Beach.

It comes with TB's own chat adapter which will give you mic monitoring and bass control.
This headset has just hit the market for Xbox One.

The Tritton has 1 wire just like the Turtle Beach headset.

I can't say if the Tritton headset is decent unfortunately. I don't know anyone that has them at the moment. There are plenty of reviews on YouTube of both headsets which you may find helpful.
