I gave up getting anxious about waiting for Tool's next album long ago. When it's out, it's out. They've had to wade through a sea of massive distractions on this album cycle in particular but the good thing now is we know they're working on it fairly flat out and I don't think anyone would want a Tool album to be rushed.

I don't think things seems dysfunctional between Maynard and the other lads. Going from that interview it seems like he's gotten used to the rest of the bands process long ago albeit it is not in line with his own more high output creative process.

Puscifer's last album was class, so there's some upsides :pac:

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    According to Danny Carey.
2018 will "definitely" yield a new record
At this point, it’s tough to decide when Legend of the Seagullmen will tour because we’re getting close to going in the studio with Tool, so we kind of have to work around each other’s schedule

Yes. I’m saying definitely. We’ll probably have it done in the first half [of the year] if things go as planned. There’s setup times and manufacturing – I can never predict all that, it seems like it’s constantly evolving. What time of year it will be out I can’t tell you.

    Quotes pulled from here

There's so much hype around it now, it's hard to know what to even expect, but any new Tool music is better than none at all!

    From fb

    TOOL RECORDING NEWS!

Who’s ready for some major breaking news? Brace yourself; get ready… okay, here we go. We are very excited to announce what is sure to be welcome news for both fans of TOOL and prog-metal enthusiasts in general. After all the years of writing and arranging (and re-arranging) at the band’s loft, I can at this time officially report that the guys have moved into a major studio where the recording process for the next album is about to begin in earnest. For the past few days the band members have been getting sonically adjusted to their new surroundings - dialing in the equipment settings and restaurant catering choices - in preparation for Danny to begin his tracking any time now – perhaps by the time that you read this!

I am also excited to announce that ‘evil’ JOE BARRESI will once again have his capable fingers at the engineering controls for what will certainly be another masterful TOOL offering by the talented team. Pinch yourself if you want, but I have been told that all systems are GO at this point for the upcoming sessions.

I will be posting periodic bits and pieces on the progress of the tracking once the guys get deeper into the recording process, and hope that all of you will keep checking back to the official website for these updates. In the meantime, be sure to also visit the individual band members’ sites and socials (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) for more inside glimpses as TOOL prepares for the next stage in their musical odyssey.

    Sounds good to me.

How much are those music clinic tickets? Pricey I'd imagine.

$500 according to Loudwire, but that $500 gets you
The Ultimate VIP Experience where fans will “discover an immersive dissection of the band Tool. The evening with Danny Carey, Justin Chancellor and Adam Jones will feature performances, a Q&A session, meet and greet and photo opportunities with the band.

Fans will also get to see rare Tool memorabilia on display and will walk away with exclusive event items, VIP collectible merchandise and an autographed commemorative ticket. Each clinic will be limited to just a few hundred guests.

Not bad if your a die-hard Tool fan I suppose.

Not bad for the 3 boys either.

    8 x 500 x 250 = 1,000,000 in ticket sales alone.

I'm sure it would cost f@ck all to put these shows on.

Not having a go, just find it interesting how a loyal fan base can result in some serious non traditional revenue streams.

Hadn't realised there were a few festival dates lined up this summer too.

I'd be amazed if they don't have new stuff out sometime before or during the summer next year.

Probably likely to add Hellfest to that list, so it'd make 15 gigs

Can't imagine we'll see Tool going on the likes of Spotify and Tidal, but Zeppelin and the Beatles did so you never know, I suppose! Can't wait for this new album. Nearly 13 years since 10,000 Days

I cant understand why they wouldn't given you can listen to all their albums in full for free on YouTube. They should do a Neil Young on it and let people have their music for free.

I can. Probably because one involves copyright infringement and the other doesn't?

Yes understand that. Most Tools fan have paid for the physical albums when released. Music nowadays is all about usability/convenience so there must be a way for them to open their music to the likes of Spotify/Apple Music etc. Tool fans will still purchase the physical discs/vinyls but the majority would love to simply play them via their paid music subscription as well.

The pain of having to put all of these albums on all my devices as local files. Shouldn't have to in this day and age

I honestly think they'll have to release new music on streaming services at this stage. Honestly, times have moved on since 2006. Less and less people buy physical copies of albums any more. They can stick to their guns I guess, but I think if they want to reach any new fans they'll have to reassess their position. They could be one of the hold-outs, but even the hold-outs are gradually diminishing as time goes on - streaming is just the way of the world now. I think they'll be savvy enough business men to realise that - and they've always been savvy enough in the business sense.

For what it's worth the newest APC album is available on streaming services. Different band I know, but there is a connection there.

Know what you mean, but knowing Tool, it wouldn't surprise me if they made it a vinyl-only release or something like that. They're that kind of organisation!

All this applies to me but instead of seeing a video on MTV it was hearing it on 2fm. I kind of forgot all about that hard rock / metal show that was on around the mid to late 90s.

Strange though how they're against streaming but they also haven't re-issued any of their albums on vinyl - you'd think they'd be all over that, especially as some of the originals are going for mental money, and there are tons of fakes/pirates doing the rounds. There was talk of a box set last year I think, but that's gone all quiet. Aenima on double vinyl would be quite the experience!!
