I really doubt we will see any large scale concert type events this side of 2020, imo.

Darts is not the same, easy to 'socially distant' etc.

Yeah a lot of gigs in September/October seem to be postponed lately. When its only 200 outdoors until 10th August at earliest, can't see 3 Arena gigs happening for foreseeable future. Maybe some small scale social distanced gigs in the Autumn

And as the above poster said, logistically I’m sure it’s a nightmare even if events are even technically possible. Different restrictions per country, massively increased production costs, risk of a second wave etc - I’d doubt any international bands will travel for ages.

Also the band itself could easily bring the virus with them while touring

Yeah I'm not even sure about rescheduled gigs for early next year going ahead tbh. No guarantees of anything.

There's been a few already alright but more organised by artists. Be interesting to see if promoters do it over next while though

Those drive in gigs later this month have been cancelled. Not sure how that works when people were meant to be staying in their cars anyway tbh.

I watched a Guided by Voices live stream on Friday. 25e for the pleasure.

It’s not a gig, but taken as it’s own thing I really enjoyed it.

Viagogo have changed their terms and conditions that state if a gig is postponed into 2021, you're not eligible for a refund (or credit). They're applying these retrospectively also.

    Absolute scumbags.

Bad enough to begin with but that's terrible. Can't see how they can legally make it retrospectively.

Big time. They have even advised customers who cannot attend a rescheduled event to relist the tickets on its website, which allows the company to take a repeat commission of up to 25% on every new sale.

Full article I pulled it from here

    https://www.theguardian.com/money/2020/jul/23/viagogo-refund-fans-gigs-cancelled-pandemic-tickets-policy

Once again, if the ticket seller is not playing ball, the only avenue is a charge back.

looking at the 3arena website the following is still scheduled for 2020

    30th Aug- Ru Paul
    7th/8th Sep- Stormzy
    10th Sep- Trevor Noah
    11th/12th Sep- André Rieu
    19th Sep- Isai Rajangam
    3rd Oct- Bellator MMA
    7th Oct- Biffy Clyro
    10th Oct- The Black Crowes
    16th Oct- Our Earth Live
    17th Oct- 90s Disco
    18th Oct- The Chainsmokers
25th Oct- WWE NXT Uk Takeover
    5th Nov- Ozzy Osbourne
    25th Nov- Ludovico Einaudi

ATM its looking a very busy 2021 for the arena and please ****ing god this virus is under control by then

No way that can stand up in the EU. They can do pretty much what they like in the States and just cut and pasted across those T&Cs, I presume.

    Soon enough id say

Only thing I have left is WWE on the 25th October but atm its very likely it won't go ahead even at half capacity in the 3arena

stubborn Martin and friends in the dail will deff not allow big indoor gatherings this year

Finally got an email today from Ticketmaster that Andre Rieu has been postponed (again) until April 2021.
Initially it was due to take place April 2020,then rescheduled to September 2020 and now pushed to April 2021.
Unfortunately the pessimistic in me thinks it won't happen in April 2021 either :(

I'd say that will the nail in the coffin for a lot of smaller / indy / underperforming festivals.

12 months is a long time, I think a lot can and will change, let's hope it's positive.

Though, and it's bad to say, if we still have to cancel things due to COVID19 this time next year, festivals will be the least of our worries / complaints

Yeah exactly, lot of time to go between now and then. Main bit of article was that basically crowd capacity may not be increased enough and then will need more space for crowds and camping say due to social distancing. Plus insurers likely won't cover cancellations due to Covid. Both big hurdles to get past but not impossible.

Guess in the meantime sporting events will be the thing to watch to see what capacity is allowed here in the meantime.

I think it's still 50 for gigs but yeah either way it's a huge gap between that and 13,000 odd capacity there! I can't see any gigs happening there this year. I've Bon Iver in January there and can't see it happening either as things stand. Not sure why gigs on over next few weeks haven't been cancelled yet tbh. Dunno is it insurance thing to wait til government mandates it but indoor limit extended to 13th September I think. Maybe they're waiting to reschedule but with all uncertainty, nearly better to refund tbh.

Detailed study of going to a concert indoors - be interesting to see the results, which are expected in October.

Those attending were "volunteers in an elaborate study by a team at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg called Restart 19. Each attendee, outfitted with a digital location tracker and hand disinfectant laced with fluorescent dye, was carefully positioned in seats as part of an experiment to track the risks of coronavirus infection posed by large, indoor events."

    Nobody knows really

Only hope a treatment/vaccine arrives soon and maybe large gatherings/gigs could make a return for mid 2021

I have 2 gigs in March/April 2021 so hoping they will be back by then

I think it's 50 maximum if gigs can go ahead but still uncertainty. Is Gervais in 3Arena? Have Bon Iver there in January and can't see it going ahead at this stage.

Say it could be 2022 at the earliest before thousands are able to go to gigs tbh

NCH has got funding for infrastructure to set up live-streaming. Might be an indication that it will be awhile yet before gigs come back there.

Guess it's an investment though anyway and could be used to stream gigs for people who can't make it within Ireland and abroad for reduced ticket price to raise more revenue.
