watching raptors celtics and sky jus stopped showing most of the second quarter ,showed plays of the month instead, poor enough coverage from sky the bare minimum really.

Ended up being a gooden too.. Celtics get the win in OT, Kyrie with 43.

I was thinking the timeout was taking a long time, looked at the score on my phone and the scores were nearly back even.

I know they don't want to show US ads etc, but surely only I person has to stay awake to swap back.

Sky have been awful, there have been some nights where they just show a game from the night before instead of a live one too.

Never really took that much notice of Danny Green, i knew he was down there in San Antonio and solid but never watched him that much but my word have i been impressed since he came to Toronto, his defence was, by reputation is strong point, his 3 is great but just his all round play is just fantastic - a complete player.

    And just saw this tweet:

Also, Ibaka is turning back the years this season, money from 3 and hitting them mid-rangers along with some hooks. Maybe his age is actually his age and he has just dipped the last few years:o

I believe they didn’t even show the OT also.

Re the live games bt did this as well very frequently. Most frustratingly during the play offs. They once showed a Cavs game 3 times. Once live, the other 2 at the same time as other live games. Half assed doesn’t describe it. Thank god for other means.

Watched both Celtics Raps and my beloved Wizards v Nets. Like night and day quality wise. Almost like different sports such was the chasm in quality.

Kemba put up 60 in a loss to Philly last night, the rest of his team had 59. Surely he has to leave Charlotte.

Wouldn't shock me if he was playing in Philly next year. They'll have the cap space for him and he'd be a perfect fit there.

I stayed up to watch that game last night and it was an unreal game. Philly are a maddening team to watch though. One minute they look like a team that can contend with every non Warriors team and the next they look like the Hawks. The one thing they'll draw some comfort from is that they've shot out to a big lead with their starting five two games in a row. That bodes well for them I think.

Also sometimes i forget how amazing Butler is... that final sequence. There's what 3-4 other guys in the league who could dot that?

Also are we a little worried about Boston? They were shocking last night... just watching it now and they're just not remotely as cohesive as you'd expect them to be at this stage of the season. Tatum is taking awful shots too frequently and when the offense isn't running through Kyries hands its just so stagnant.

He was a contender for Finals MVP one year he was so hot from 3 in the early part of the series, then receded in the last couple of games. He has also ben injured a lot. Spurs didn't want to part with him by all accounts in the trade. As a role player/fringe starter he's ideal in the modern NBA.

Yes worried as a Boston fan, but still have faith they'll sort it out OR make a blockbuster trade.

I've listened to a few people on pods comment about the lack of players understanding their role and position on the roster here and I tend to agree with that. Whilst it was aimed more at the guys in the 4 - 8 (and beyond) roles, Tatum is playing at times at the moment like he thinks he's the best player in the Conference. He's made an awful lot of poor decisions. Kyrie was fantastic v the Raptors, but he's been very poor at times too. Hayward looks like he's lacking confidence and mobility - not blaming him given the injury but I listened to the Woj pod (from memory) that detailed his physical rehab and in theory he's fine on that front so you'd have to think it's mental. And again, you have to think given time that'll come right.

But right now, I'd go so far as to say no-one is untouchable if the AD trade is on the cards. And I do think with Clutch involved they will have to go the trade route rather than wait for Free Agency, as if we et to that point I can only see him going to LA.

Don't see the fit wityh Kemba in Philly. They don't need another ball dominant PG. Look at how Butler's arrival has affected Simmons, and Butler's not a PG!

Philly will need a lot of games to figure things out and lots of rumours of other trades and acquisitions coming as they need shooting and D in the 2,3 and 4 positions. JJ can't do it all on his own.......

Warriors lose again, 2-5 in their last 7 games, Portland now top of the west.

Ok.... just landed back in US after a week away with no phone. What the hell is going on with the Warriors, looks like I’ve a lot to catch up on.
Going to Portland game Friday though, should be good

Curry’s injury has been a huge problem for them; throw in Draymond’s suspension and the subsequent fallout and you have a recipe for 2-5.

Curry’s absense is the bigger issue though. He may not be as respected by some as KD, but he is the single most important player on and to that team. Without him they look average at times. Hard to believe that less than 2 weeks ago people were talking about going after 73 again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

The Heat's court and uniforms looked really cool last night in full Miami Vice colour scheme. They should have that as their default home colourscheme from now on.

Curry is the heart and soul of the Warriors, they just aren’t the Warriors without him
Watched a few clips and read a few articles, very easy to make Draymond the bad guy as he came come across as too much but he is just really passionate and honest.
I think the whole Durant resigning, is the big issue here, you have a bunch of guys that that have bought into this kind of, let’s build a dynasty, let’s not let money and contracts get in the way.
Now you have KD basically putting a shadow all over that and it probably is causing a bit of annoyance with players
I have zero problem with KD going somewhere else, it’s his choice and the Warriors knew what they were getting into here, I just wouldn’t be so desperate to resign him, I put Curry and Thompson as untouchable, Green is that drive and fire a team needs, KD is obviously spectacular but I feel like he already has his mind made up so just let him go

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Wizards ready to blow it up by putting entire roster on the line apparently as per Woj and other sources. Great in theory.....but....who'll trade for Wall and that contract? Likewise who'd trade for an overpaid Porter? Who in their right mind would want Howard or Rivers? Only Bradley Beal (and to a much lesser degree Kelly Oubre) could bring anything back of value.

It's such a mess. They're lucky they're in the East. They have to do something though as the chemistry on that team is toxic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,898 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

I could see the Pistons taking a shot on Wall if they can get a pick-heavy package together. They've already got an ageing star on a huge contract, so why not double down and really go for it instead of hovering around the 8th seed for the next few years with Blake.

Also Porter is overpaid but not horribly so imo, could push a team from really good to great. I wouldn't say no to him at Portland.

    The plot thickens
At the direction of his attorney, Raymond Brothers, @MarkelleF is scheduled to see a shoulder specialist early next week. Per Brothers, Fultz will not participate in team practices or games until after the the specialist has had a chance to evaluate him.

lots of nba games today and sky decide to show a gem with the nets and timberwolves. How come they never show double headers ? there coverage has been fairly underhelming so far.

On my way to Warriors v Portland now, was on my list for a must see game this year. A lot more interesting now since Warriors have hit a slump and a little bit of drama, love watching Lillard playing, Oakland native also so he gets a lot of love at Oracle.

Warriors beat Kings in a really good game, Kings look really really good for the future, I really hope they don’t mess it up, they have a lot of talent on that team

Slightly off-topic, but it seems like Dwight Howard had been messing around with transvestite prostitutes & threatening one of them with physical harm.

Who'd have thought pretty much a quarter of the way into the season that Boston and Orlando would have the same record?

West is crazy tight again. GS will separate at some stage and seal the 1seed, but there's going to be a mad rush for the last play off spots again this year you'd have to think.

    That's just crazy!

I havnt had a chance to watch much NBA so far this season but I did catch one 76ers game (with Fultz and Simmons in the lineup) and the spacing was just horrible, as bad as you could get in a modern NBA game. Butler in the lineup will certainly help, he's not exactly a knock down shooter himself but at least he keeps defences honest.

I still think Embiid should be taking more 3s per game though, seeing him drift out to the corner a few more times a game would open up their offense a lot more, even if it knocks a point or two off his PPG.

I assumed I’d check the box score for that game and see him 0-1 from 3pt range at least. Nope. He did not shoot that.

woke up this morning to see that the Celtics won away in New Orleans !

they have home games against the cavs , knicks and peilcans, and away against the bulls , wizards and timber wolves. Now would be a good time to go on a 5-2 or 6-1 run and start to get the season going !!

Kawhi signs a sneaker deal with......New Balance.

Strange on some levels but they are investing in the game again so it could be interesting. Not sure i'd want Kawhi as the face of my brand though for all the obvious reasons.

Lillard had a pretty great chance to beat Klay's 3pt record last night but they just didn't really focus on it. He was 10-12 from 3 with a minute or so left in the 3rd quarter but only finished the game 10-15.

What do you mean? You can't market THAT laugh?? (skip to 20 secs)

Very entertaining game last night! I was sure the Raptors had it sewn up about 3 times but that FREAK Durant and his insane shooting kept coming back. Glad the Raptors showed some mettle but obviously Warriors without Green and Curry

New Balance and Kawhi are a perfect match, NB shoes are boring, every man over 40 owns a pair of beaten up New Balance that they will eventually throw out only to buy a new pair of the same shoes.

Not really up to speed with the more subtle nuances of the sneaker game, are we? ;)

I've mentioned it before on here that I'm a collector for 30+ years at this stage. The image you describe of NB is a cliché. Sure there's an element of truth in it and even an SNL sketch to back up that stereotype; but they've become a much younger brand in recent years. The 574 is a classic silhouette; and while they'll struggle to come close to Nike/Jordan/Adidas etc. fdom a style/cool POV, they are an interesting brand doing interesting and different things right now. They're more niche than mainstream, hence why Kawhi is interesting - if it's an attempt to make them more mainstream I'm not sure that's going to work. If they place the niche as a strength and play to that market it could get interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,898 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

I know NB have some nice models but the public perception is what matters with big brand deals like this.

(and fwiw I still think Asics and Saucony do the New Balance style better than New Balance themselves)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,002 ✭✭✭Carcharodon

For the record, I currently own 4 pairs of New Balance, 2 of the same but different colors. Iam not 40 yet so I don’t what that says about me...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

To be fair New Balance have been doing really well in recent years. They were unknown here for years only your fat uncle (nobodies in particular) who would come back from the US with them saying they gave great support, now you see them everywhere and have come out with some shoes that are reliving Nike for look/style.

Just before heading to bed last night I found the Knicks Bucks game on Sky Mix - which I think is on most virgin packages as free to air. Recorded the rest of it but I see it went to OT - not sure if they stayed with the game or not given previous comments on sky coverage. And there’s a game on next Saturday night too according to the EPG.

They may have stuck with it but Virgin on record didn't, went to watch the end there and the recording ends with just over a minute left to play. And yes, I have my default recording settings with extra time added on to it. Well at least there's live NBA there now once a week I guess.
