Technically 615mm in Lough Eske in 1985 would be the current record.

Bring it on the rain, the salmon and sea trout are hanging around the bay's and estuaries to get a good run....

Last year was bad, so there's going to be bigger fish racing up this time...

Just some dark clouds around in Cork City, see we were removed from the warning so just expecting a few showers! These things always seem to go more West and north in the models about 2 days before the actual event, for future reference

NUIG weather station has 260.6mm for the month up to last night, 9mm so far today. With what is to come a good chance of breaking 300mm alright. Been an awful month...

Easy to see looking at the Sat 24 imagery as to why they are calling this a 'conveyor belt' type rain event. Just keeps coming & coming. More intense now here in West Mayo in the last while.

Showers are turning quite a bit heavier now in Castlebar, up at over 15mm of rain now.

Wow that is a huge amount of rainfall, I’m hoping Athenry doesn’t break any records this August. If the rainfall keeps up at this pace, the only outcome I can see is flooding..

A spectacularly sh*te day in Galway city today. Gravity defying sideways rain all day, with many more hours to come.

Sunny spells in Cork City with some clouds around, bit of a breeze but warm in the sun. We are meant to get some rain during the night, but looks like ME were spot on about the warnings (well by removing us anyway)
