Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Kempton 7.25
Birds of prey 5pts win 4/1

Birds of prey ran in a 1m 3f class 3 handicap where she finished 4th beaten 2L. The winner of the race was no other than COUNT CALABASH who held a previous selection Koeman off in 2nd place in a tough handicap at Ascot. Count Calabash was raised 4LB for the Kempton race. His next race was Ascots 1m4f class 3 handicap.

I watched the race four times today and each time I watched it COUNT CALABASH seemed to win the race easier than I previously thought. He was drawn 14, he flew the stall with ease, joined the front runner, had never any cover at any time during the race, the front runner went out like a light and so did the third and fourth, he took up the lead and ran away from them, he pissed up. He was also backed as if defeat was out of the question. He was 11/1 on the previous evening when the betting opened and he won at 9/2fav.
He also went up an extra furlong more than the Kempton race, Birds of Prey was staying on very well at the end of that Kempton race, I think he can give DASH OF SPICE the fav a race of it tonight.

Birds of Prey was last trained by J. Oxx, again no reason why he was sold. He won two races at Gowran Park in 2017, he actually carried 9st 9lb when he was a 3yr old in one of the races where he was 7/2f, they must have known they had a tough little horse to go to war with as I think Gowran is a very tough course to win at, they don’t run the TRYESTES there for nothing.
Incidentally, in the first two maidens of his career he went off at odds of 25/1 and 16/1. They then went to Killarney to another maiden and must have thought he was unbeatable. He was backed into 11/10 fav and beaten 2L by a horse called WINGS OF EAGLE who ten months later won the 2017 English derby, I kid you not.

Onto the lady rider Megan Nichols who is riding Birds of Prey, she is 3 from 6 at Salisbury where she chinned us in a photo two weeks ago against Cleonte at 12/1. She is 2/6 here at Kempton.

    Cartmel tomorrow

    2.45 Flemish maid 1pt e/w 16/1

Flemish maid has only raced on soft and heavy in Ireland and being out of Flemmansfirth, an Amercian stallion I will give her one more chance on this better ground. Her last race in Punchestown were she finished 6th of 9 runners was a decent race in context to tomorrows race at Cartmel.
Winner went in again off a rating of 112
the second actually won two from the next three races.
the third that day was 2nd 4th and 3rd in her next three races
the 5th won a race three races later off a mark of 102

Our mare is running off 83 tomorrow with the kid who I think is one of the better claimers around taking a further 3LB off. Ok its only a pt e/w bet but if it is better ground this mare wants and the stable know it, this horse has a decent chance plus the fact this kid is riding the mare. He is 0/12 over the last 12 months at the course but three of them were placed. 16/1 maybe a big price at the off time tomorrow.

at least we can get the odds Jerry says the horses are, no chance of getting the early odds on Hugh Tailors horses he puts up.

    Yes Jay
there are too many lads watching the thread and just going to Powers or boyles but the more popular this thread gets the quicker them books will shorten our horses so lads on here may well end up having to open other accounts.

The best one being bet365. if you can open with them do so.

Worth adding and I'm not sure where ye stand on this. But there is little point following a tipster if you are not taking the price advised.

Hugh Taylor turns a massive profit year on year but I would guess you would be losing money if betting sp.

Hugh puts a selection up most days. His P/L for a year I am thinking is somewhere in the 200-300 range. So if you followed him every day and took a point or 2 less than advised on every selection you would likely lose money.
    Fine margins and all that.

*Actually am way off on this and it would be related to the number of points invested to winners. Either way I think it's useful when tipsters give a price range rather than just 1 price. Not that I follow any myself but I like seeing something like 5/1+ as in 5/1 should be the min price you should take and anything after that is a plus.

Anyway not a complaint or anything about what's going on here. Clearly on a roll. Just some stuff I thought was interesting.
