Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    From http://www.tvsales.rte.ie

    RTÉ One Starts Sun 3rd October 2010, (4 x 60 mins)

RTÉ One’s commitment to bold and original home-grown drama continues with a dynamic new serial LOVE/HATE, a four part drama set in Dublin's gangland. Written by Stuart Carolan and starring Aidan Gillen, Robbie Sheehan, Ruth Bradley, Ruth Negga the series also features a golden wave of emerging actors including Brian Gleeson, Tom Vaughan Lawlor, Peter Campion, Killian Scott and Aobhinn McGinnity.

When a catastrophic event ignites the tensions in a small-time drug gang, family, friends and community must live with the impact. Having left town in a hurry a year ago Darren Tracey (Robert Sheehan) decides to come back to Dublin. He’s homesick and a party for his brother on his release from prison is the perfect excuse. It’s only for the weekend but sometimes life is full of surprises - especially if you and your friends are in gangland.

Forced by circumstances to stay in Dublin and money to be made, DARREN is back working for Gangland boss John Boy Power (Aidan Gillen). A mix up over a consignment of cocaine elevates the tension within the gang. Who can Darren trust?

John Boy and his brother Hughie (Brian Gleeson) try to assert their authority but as events begin to spiral out of their control it becomes clear that action will have to be taken. As Darren grows closer to uncovering the truth, tensions and suspicions rise among the gang. Darren in particular faces difficult decisions about his feelings for former girlfriend ROSIE (Ruth Negga), his future and his loyalties.

Darren becomes increasingly concerned, not only for his own safety, but also for his sister Mary (Ruth Bradley) and the kids. Can he win this battle without losing the war?

This is how I that press release looks to me...

Eamon Dunphy's wife's commitment to bland and derivative navel-gazing blah drones on and on with a lifeless new serial MEH, a four part drama set in Dublin's gangland.

Written by [interchangeable monologue-ridden Irish playwright] and starring [well-known actor’s sons] the series also features a GOLDEN WAVE.

When shouting in a kitchen ignites the tensions in a small-time drug gang, family, friends and community must live with more shouting in a kitchen.

Sometimes life is full of grey, paceless standing around with pained expressions because of the RELEVANT, MEANINGFULNESS ISSUES - especially if you and your friends are in gangland.

    Gangland!

Well he was a councillor / mayor in The Wire, he's a drug dealer in this... Just finishing watching The Wire Season 5... He's good enough in that to be fair to him.

    Emm...

The promo just made it sound like another over-hyped RTE show that's apparently "edgy" or "gritty" and is automatically labelled as brilliant just because it's set in Dublin ala Raw.

They could of done better casting for the main lead, he looks far from a criminal.
    Script isn't the greatest either.

...they seem to have been obsessed with mobile phones.

Not bad so far, cliched accents is the only downside but still it seems a good prospect.

wow. have to say, pretty good so far. great direction, pretty good dialogue, nice unexpected shooting of a likeable character already... not bad

Yeah, that crossed my mind but the plot justifies it and well, they wud be used a lot. accents acceptable, have to say i'm shocked - is this really RTE?

    Script editor should be shot.

"Are you banging some young one?"

"I knew you were banging some young one"

    "He's banging some young one"

Indeed he was, but English is a rich language, and there are many other ways to describe 'banging some young one"

''Imagine putting the wrong date on a search warrant!''

    How convenient.

Has happened in real life more than once.:)

I'm the first (one of ) to take a baseball bat to anything RTE funds, facilitates or fondles.
but lads, bit a nit pickin going on here. (which is fine, with reason.)
so far this is the best RTE has funded or whatever in quite a while. Great opp for young Irish actors.
Even good enough (so far) to send abroad! (never thought i'd say that bout rte)
And the crims are getting even more sinister looking

Seen 'The Take' on sky 1 recently, which i think is a good comparison.
to me love/hate is actually better. That final scene (uploading for their web page or whatever was a bit weak, but the tension before hand was good.
Overall, good stuff. - it is possible to find minuscule annoyances in any program, but for me, overall this was pretty damn good.
