Grand. I complain about them too.

Do Connacht use tickets.ie and avoid the service charge?

It's a huge bug bear of mine that teams use Ticketmaster (for season tickets) when cheaper options are available to fans.

But surely the tickets.ie service charge is just rolled into the cost of the ticket?

There are cheaper options, the province could just do it themselves, but the Ticketmaster operation is a whole lot more sophisticated.

Take for example the Leinster situation (the only one I'm familiar with), the ticket exchange is an absolutely fantastic facility, that you can put your seat up for sale if you can't make it, or that you can just email a PDF ticket to your mate without having to bother your arse meeting him, giving him the swipe card, then getting it back for the next game.

These are facilities that you need the Ticketmaster infrastructure for, no way Leinster could do anything like that independently. Is it worth the cost? Maybe that's debatable but if you sell one ticket via the exchange that would otherwise go to waste, then you'll more than recoup your cash.

i think you'll find the VAST MAJORITY of concert / show goers complain about having to pay Ticketbastards 'fee per ticket' costs

    rubbish people have accepted it

if munster rugby included the booking fee into the cost of a ticket would the moaning still continue???

What are you complaining about? It's either pay the TM charge or don't go at all.

They haven't. People are always complaining about TMs extortionate 10% booking fee charge. It's just that if you don't pay it you don't get to go to the event you want to go to.
Luckily for us the MRSC has negotiated a lower fixed price booking fee.

if you cant see the co-relation between people "having to pay" something and then complaining about it... well.......

ya thats what im saying. i am bemused at people moaning about the tm charge for munster tickets yet would have no difficulty in paying for concert tickets from them

munster need a system to admin their ticket requirements otherwise it would be totally unwieldy for their ticket office. there is a price for every service

But what's being said to you is that people DO complain about the paying the charge on concert tickets. Do a google search on Ticketmaster charges. They pay the charge because they have no choice but they complain about paying the charge all the time.

which is irrational given that people who are receiving a service can hardly expect to get that service for free.

It's not irrational that people feel they're being ripped off with a 10% service charge.

And not one person said it should be free...

    slingerz wrote: »

no one expects it for free....

however people do expect to pay per transaction and not per ticket.
There is no conceivable significant extra costs between ordering 1 ticket to ordering 4 tickets which would generate a 400% cost increase between 1 and 4.

THATS what people mainly gripe over, and rightly so.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,275 ✭✭✭slingerz

so what fee would you want charged then? bear in mind it must support a business to make a profit.

if munster increased the price of tickets from €50 to €60 but you saw no transaction fee would people complain about that then?

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,833 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

    ^^^^
and thats called "moving the goal posts" and is a totally different argument

perhaps a more pertinent query would be why customers in the republic are charged 9% MORE than northern customers?

by the way, the ticket charge is 12.5% per ticket to a maximum of €6.85 per ticket.

so four €55 tickets would incur a cost of €27.50

Anyone remember was the 6Ns trophy on display in Thomond Park in the first Rabo game immediately after the 6Ns last season?

Can't remember to be honest. Unrelated I know but it was some days rugby. Wales pushed past what was expected of them, then we did do the same and set England a massive target and then English score 7 trys an nearly catch us! Thank feck the missed kicks didn't cost us!

Got an email to say that the men's 6Ns trophy will be in Thomond Park on Saturday, MR are still trying to confirm if the women's trophy will be available.

    Connacht thread meltdown in 5, 4, 3....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,363 ✭✭✭✭phog

    Just got this by email.
Both 6 Nations Trophies Bound for Thomond Park!

As the country recovers from an unbelievable weekend of rugby, Munster are gearing up for an epic interprovincial battle against rivals Connacht in a crucial battle for points as the race for a semi final spot continues.

If that wasn't inspirational enough, supporters attending the game will have the chance to get their picture taken with not just one, but both 6 Nations Trophies lifted by our own Niamh Briggs and Paul O'Connell last weekend.

Both cups will be on display in the Dugout Bar from 3.15pm-4.00pm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Munster return to Guinness PRO12 action this Saturday in Thomond Park when they take on Interprovincial rivals Connacht at 5.15pm.

This Saturday's encounter will be the last round game at the Limerick venue with the two remaining home games taking place in Irish Independent Park in Cork, against Treviso and Newport Gwent Dragons respectively.

The squad gathered in UL today with a number of the returning internationals in attendance including Simon Zebo, Tommy O'Donnell, Felix Jones and Ian Keatley, while those that started at the weekend - Paul O'Connell, Conor Murray and Peter O'Mahony enjoyed a rest day after a gruelling 6 Nations campaign.

On the injury front Donnacha Ryan has been ruled out of contention for this weekend's Interprovincial clash after sustaining a concussion in the Munster A game against Ulster Ravens in Nenagh last Thursday and the Tipperary lock will continue to follow return to play protocols.

There is good news for hooker Duncan Casey as he makes a full return to training this week after recovering from an ankle injury sustained during the Lanzarote training camp in February, while James Cronin (knee) and Tyler Bleyendaal are both progressing well with their rehabilitation. James is taking part in modified training while Tyler has advanced with his return to contact training and continues to be monitored.

Cathal Sheridan (forearm) had a screw removed last week while Barry O'Mahony (ankle) had a plate removed and both players are now waiting on the healing process to complete before returning to their rehabilitation programmes.

Gerhard van den Heever, Robin Copeland, Dave Foley, Cian Bohane, Alan Cotter, Johnny Holland, Martin Kelly and Mike Sherry all continue with their rehab training schedules.

It was also confirmed today that Munster A will play Connacht Eagles on Thursday April 2nd at 3pm with the venue yet to be confirmed.

Tickets are on sale for Saturday's round 18 Guinness PRO12 game online here, from the ticket offices in Thomond Park and Irish Independent Park, or by calling 0818 719 300.

Please note match-day hospitality is sold out.

Donnacha Ryan injured again :-( , he really needs as much gametime as he can squeeze in if he hopes to make the W/C squad

POC, Toner and Henderson is pretty much set in stone so I imagine it's one spot for McCarthy/Tuohy/Foley/DRyan.

He's not "injured" though, it's concussion. And as we only have 1 game every fortnight he should be back for the next game. Plus there's another A game against Connacht next week he may be available for.

He's still missing a competitive game and the A game is next Thursday so he could miss that too. As I said, he really needs as much gametime as he can get.

There never was going to be a change. Don't know too much on the AR's but Beggs is a decent ref iirc

Shame Donnacha Ryan is out. Hopefully he can pass RTP protocols and be back ASAP. Really needs a run of games... so unfortunate recently...

They were damned if they did and damned if they didn't. I just hope we dont have a game changing decision on Saturday, he could do with a good game to get back into reffing after the recent controversy.

tbh there is going to be something.

the way we're looking at refs now there always will be.

In a way I don't agree, since it wasn't him who was punished!

The Indo suggested that TB could be available before the end of this season. Keatley and JJ will likely play out the season in any case but it sounds like TB will be more than ready for next year!

I reckon we might see him in Cork for the Treviso or Dragons games perhaps.

I was at the meeting, I was voting against it anyway but felt the "proposers" put forward a very poor case and had no alternative to how away tickets should be distributed.

The motion was defeated 58 -16 with one abstention.

Well as expected neither Leinster or Ulster named any of the Ireland starting XV in their sides, so it's unlikely we'll see POC, POM or Murray this weekend. I'd still expect the stongest available team though.

I'd expect something along the lines of this.
    Jones
    Conway
    Earls
    Hurley
    Zebo
    Keatley
    Williams
    Kilcoyne
    Guinazu
    Botha
    Donncha O'C
    Holland
    Dave O'C / Stander
    TOD
    Stander / O'Donoghue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Yeah, we're going to be without the internationals.

Casey is back in full training, although we mightn't see him yet and Bleyendaal & Cronin are partly back.

We'll be without Sherry, Cotter, Kelly, Ryan, Foley, Copeland, BOM, Sheridan, J. Holland, VdH and Bohane too. Which still leaves a lot of big names, I'd expect something similar to above, maybe:

Jones, Conway, Earls, Hurley, Zebo, Keatley, Williams
Killer, KOB, Botha, DOC, Holland, DOC2.0, TOD, Stander

Guinazu, Ryan, Archer, JOD, Dougall, Cronin, JJ, ROM

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭Tomtom364

I wouldn't be surprised (or disappointed) if ROM featured ahead of Conway this weekend. He is a player that deserves more game time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Given our centres can play in the back three it probably makes more sense to have Andrew Smith on the bench.

ROM is quality, huge fan of his. But Conway has been good this season too. I don't mind either way.

Interesting. I think I'd be slightly disappointed if we went back to Smith & Hurley as a centre partnership, even though I do like Earls on the wing. We've just looked a lot better since the return of Earls to 13.

And if we were to go without both Killer & Botha, it would seem to weaken us unnecessarily in the front row, though at least 1 of them would start.

I hear Francis Saili could be announced next week. Creevy wanted by Arg for their Super Rugby Franchise but still open to joining Munster. I also hear they have also spoken to Wales centre Jonathon Davies and Toulon hooker Craig Burden

If we are serious about signing a hooker, you'd have to assume that Sherry is on the way out. Davies would be a good signing.

I wouldn't go near any Welsh players tbh. The only seemed interested in performing for Wales and would be missing as much as our Irish internataionals.

Wales are enforcing the play in Wales, to play for Wales stance are they not?

I hope saili is signed, himself and earls could be a great partnership. I don't see the need for a hooker really with Casey scannell and sherry hopefully back, TH is a big issue though.
