be aggressive, cleric beast is an easy enough boss, I say that thinking some of the later ones which can be cruel. Oil and molotov cocktails work a treat, get in close bash its legs and hop out or around.
The boss after will probably make or break you, best of luck.

You must have a keyword alert set up for Bloodborne :)

Cheers I'll give him another few goes anyway. I'm out of Molotovs so might pick up more and try him again.

I remember similar frustration with Iudex in DS3 but I got past him. I am finding Bloodborne a bit more confusing to get around in, all looks fairly similar when walking around. No clue where next lamp is, I'm presuming after boss

Tried playing Shenmue after picking it up for a tenner in Smyths , jesus it's awful slow going around the little town asking everyone the same questions got old fast

    Beat Cleric Beast there :)

Won't lie, I looked at Vatyvidya's video on how to beat him. Must have killed me 10 times over the weekend but beat him first go there.

I applaud anyone that trudges through these games without consulting YouTube. I know some people might consider it spoiling the game but I'd rather get through the early parts of the game and get a feel for it than getting frustrated in the first hour and never play it again.

    my alert went off
the next boss is considered a test. I'd say more people fail at him than any other. It's only because you're a bit under levelled at that point rather than it being too difficult. I solo'd him but did cheese him.
The blood starved beast (2nd optional boss) gave my a harder time but in fairness I almost had it first go and then just co-opped it.
Some bosses just don't suit certain play styles and you have to adapt, I lost my mind on some even after beating them and playing later with new characters

I got stuck in the first part of yarnham and I looked at a video on youtube and thought I'd never make the first save point and never played it again!

    Right on queue :)

I seen there is a bit of a cheese for second boss alright and I am not afraid to admit I'm not gonna be a hero and I fully intend on cheesing the crap out of it.

@cienciano - That's what I want to avoid with this game. First boss in Dark Souls 3 clattered me more times than I'd like to admit so ended up dropping the game for ages. Looked at a guide to beat him and managed to get through him and enjoyed the game after that (at least as much as you can enjoy a Souls game :) )

I understand all of the words independently, but am really struggling to understand what is being said here.. Obviously it's a type of game I don't play...

Tried the "cheese" method on Father G there and still got hammered. Got him down to last phase but he's too aggressive then and slaughtered me. Might give him another go at the weekend....and might not. Walking around the same starting area starting to get tedious now though. Must have 5 hours put into it now and feel like I've zip all progress made.

    He claims another victim
the way I got him was when he goes to his third phase bring him over to the stairs, you entice him up the steps, run past him and run around the railing at the end of the staircase, you can then fight him through the railing
he is hard in the beginning

I'll try that so. Can cheese him down to that phase no bother but he's crazy aggressive then. Didn't even get a chance to whip out the music box. I'll give him another few goes. Felt same way after Iudex in DS3 hammered me multiple times but in DS3 I felt like once he was done I was able to traverse the world and make progress. I've beat one boss already in Bloodborne and I'm still running around the same area for like 5 hours now. Does the game open up after beating FG boss?

Been playin a decent amount of Apex Legends. Good craic for the most part. Definitely my favorite BR game by a looooong way.

Gonna give the The Division 2 a go tonight on its free beta.

Never got the first one but always wanted to try it so this is ideal.

Finished metro exodus (great addition to the series) and Leon's story on resident evil 2 remake, giving it a bash as Claire and I'm still scared/uneasy

Picked up Persona 5 again last night. Had put it down a few months back after playing about 20 hours or so. Really enjoying it now again.

Only thing that I don't like is the gap between safe rooms once your in a dungeon which makes it tricky to pick up for a quick game before bed cos you generally get caught between safe rooms. Actually think that might be why I put it down, that and a huge backlog of other games and a Switch purchase :)

Would you not just put the PS4 on standby mode? Or does that mess it up a bit?

Hadn't thought of that. This game is screaming out for a Switch version, would be perfect for it, probably won't happen though.

Have Yakuza 6 for a but now but haven't played it. Waiting for a deal on kiwami 2 as Id like to play them in sequence. Looking forward to seeing how the dragon engine looks.

Playing Rise of the Tomb Raider after finishing Tomb Raider. There is a noticeable increase in the graphics and performance of the game. The models look different for 2 characters that are also in first game, which is a bit disconcerting when you go from one directly to the other.

So far, so good though - very enjoyable, and not as grindy for the various upgrades as the first.

IMO, two great games. Having enjoyed the uncharted series I didn’t know what to expect from the Tomb Raider reboot. Finished the first two recently one after the other but I’ll take a break from them for awhile now before tackling Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I have to say I enjoyed them probably a bit more than the uncharted games including UC4. I will give Uncharted Lost Legacy a playthrough soon aswell.

Sign me up to that too! It's the best game for a quick few games that turn into hours.

Resident evil 2 remake is the game that keeps on giving, done both scenarios, the 4th survivor (it very much was a **** you I'm completing this). I bought Hong Kong massacre, it's addictive and frustrating, the control system can be a headwreck but fantastic for 20mins session

Trying to play Shenmue, but I don't remember the amount of to and fro'ing. I want to finish it, then the second one, so I can play the 3rd, but I may not get there. All I keep thinking while playing it is 'I should be playing Yakuza'. Also re-playing Bulletstorm, trying to finish Darksiders 3 and waiting to pick up the season pass for AC: Odyssey.

Playing Nioh at the moment. Only after beating second boss but good so far. Loving the samurai vibe

    Dragon Quest XI.

A lovely throw back to the older Final Fantasy games. Absolutely nothing ground breaking in It but it's gorgeous looking, the turn based combat is fun and very easy to pick up and has some nice tweaks. Highly recommended to fans of old school TBC games.

Been sorely tempted to pick this up on the last sale but think I'm going to hold off for the Switch version as it has a few nice little extras with it. Looks great though.

Currently getting back into Persona 5. Such a great game with very memorable characters and dungeons but I think I haven't been playing RPG's for a while and the whole saving system has messed me up.
I've already had to turn off the game due to other commitments that has lost me about a half hour of game play.
I'll need to get used to that again but it is putting me off. Fantastic game besides!

(Huge fan of standby mode. Actually think it's one of the better advancements this gen, even more so than 4K.)

I found it very good, it's quite easy on normal unlike it's predecessor which was a little more inforgiving. Thought one of the big issues with the first one was the main character was just very bland. Felt they did a much better job on making you care about him second time out.
story is still bat-ship crazy mind

Battlefield 1, have to say it's both frustrating and fun.

Have Red Dead half complete, bit of a slow burner that one.

PS Plus games for past 2 months were pretty bad.

Holding out for God Of War to drop for free or a heavily discounted Resi Evil 2.

Last of Us 2 in Autumn will be the next full price purchase.

€60, but it has lots of game modes. The Road to The Show mode is as close to a sports RPG that I have come across in any sports game.

Grabbed the Borderlands GOTY edition on Wednesday.

I didn’t play it back in the day so very late to the party. Anyone else who didn’t get on board I’d highly recommend getting this. €30 gets you the game and all dlc.

The online coop doesn’t seem to be working yet but I’m sure they’ll fix it. Level 20 already so that’s not holding me back. Lol.

I have the handsome collection on the hard drive which I’ve only played an hour or so of so a lot of Borderlands to play before number 3 comes out!!

I'd be wary about exhausting yourself on Borderlands. I remember when 2 was coming I went through 1 again, and I was a bit worn out by the time 2 released. Luckily, 2 was good enough to keep me interested! I'd imagine playing 1, then 2, then the pre-sequel would be too much.

To be fair I’ll most likely not get 3 at launch. I tend to be late to the party on most games and pick them up on sale.

Only picked up this remaster on launch due to not being in the middle of a Destiny or similar currently.

    Point definitely taken though.

I have been doing my Masters since last September, just finished (For a couple of months anyway). During that time I had very little time to relax, almost zero to game. If I was to pick up just one game from the last year or so to get back into it what would it be? (PS4 or PSVR - already played Astrobot ;))

Red Dead 2. Play through the campaign, pay attention to the storyline and don’t skip any cutscenes! Incredible game, that.
