Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Enjoying tonight so far.

Smith and Hopp was an entertaining match and Suljovic and Wade is shaping up nicely

Suljovic should be romping home here, he doesn’t like pressure!

Two great matches so far tonight. Suljovic will be kicking himself big time. Reckon the heat got to him he was terrible in the last few legs

Savage finishing by Merv so far. 5/5 on the doubles.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,464 ✭✭✭Ultimate Seduction

Really didn't think Merv stood a chance in that game. Fair play. Gary was poor but still..

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Fair play to King, thought he was going to let his head drop when Gary clawed back to lead 7-6, but he kept on attacking, and thoroughly deserved to win. Had he not bust the 120 earlier in the game I think he would have romped it. Very impressive.

Ando not at his best, good win for Merv though, some excellent finishing when he needed it

Never really warmed to Merv before but my god he was superb tonight, well done man

I was the same a few years a go, thought he was surley and dour, but have warmed to him recently, as i think I realised he just never bought into the "show" aspect, and he's just a normal darts player. I don't think he's ever going to win over the crowd (or even try) but I'd love to see him get back some of his old form, where he looked formidable.

Bit like you when you were running.........

Come on MvG, we need to see some of the good stuff tonight. Durant will not be phased playing vanGerwin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Fair play to Merv, great win. Knocked out Aspinall and Anderson, two good scalps.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Both players struggling a bit here. There for the taking if one or the other can find a bit extra.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,629 ✭✭✭ThebitterLemon

MvG struggles continue, Durrant very very solid.

Justin Credible Darts will have a mushroom allergic reaction if Durrant wins this :)

MVG has been awful again. Durrant should beat him here if he keeps his wits about him.

Duzza going to give MvG a right go here

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

VanGerwin hasn't been awful, but for his standards he's well below par. Playing someone like Durant is the worst match up... No ups, no downs, doesn't seem to be bothered by pressure. If MvG is to overhaul Durrants lead, he will have to raise his game and do it for himself, Durrant will give him nothing.

OK, after that 11th leg I'm prepared to say he is playing awful

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

If MvG doesn't get his shot together, this is over

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Christ, that attempt at 68 with 3 darts by MvG was mindbogglingly bad.

Great leg ro pull back to 7-8. Felt it was game over had he lost that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,029 ✭✭✭boomdocker

We'll see what Duzza is made of now....

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Pressure on Durrant now. Hold to avoid defeat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,629 ✭✭✭ThebitterLemon

Great match. Hope Durrant wins it

Seems fair, thought MvG might have been able to raise it to snatch it on last leg, but 2x sub 60 scores to start put paid to that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,715 ✭✭✭✭Ally Dick

I have been expecting Duzza to sh1t his pants, but it seems like Michael has sh1t his

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

We're watchng a ghost of MvG. Crazy 3 darts at x10

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Durrant reminds me a lot of John part. Plays the board, counts well, the right play all the time, consistent and can deal with pressure. Not flashy. Avg low, but great combinations, setup and finishing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,715 ✭✭✭✭Ally Dick

    Duzza's scoring is deserting him

Very poor from Duzza when throwing for the match there

Goddamn that an Unlucky bounce out on 19. Denied a finish. Should be ok.

You can only admire Glen, some balls, finish it

Like this tournament but keep getting it mixed up with the Grand slam of darts format dont knw why

Darts in the summer feels odd

BDO style sloppiness creeping into Duzza's game

Yeah, he seems like a nice guy. Beat a below par MvG, but as mentioned before, reminds me a lot of John part, one of my favourite players.

What a game of darts! I fancied Duzza to beat him but still, WOW. I nearly cried at the end honest to God.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,464 ✭✭✭Ultimate Seduction

With Aspinal , Price , Anderson and MvG out, I think Snakebite is certain to win it now .

    Fantastic match, delighted for Durrant.

Has silenced a lot of doubters already this year who said he wouldn’t cut it in the PDC and this really hammers it home.

He’s a top 5 player, maybe even higher. Bottle in spades, once he gets more experience of these noisy crowds and big tournaments he will be even better.

    Great night of darts

Hard to pick between Durrant, Cross and Wright from here.

Nice to see MvG signing autographs coming off the stage and show Durrant proper Respect on Twitter. I don't get how people say he's arrogant or sore loser. He's class.

Yep, and he did a fair interviews afterwards, most of the top players when they lose to players ranked below them strop off sulking

Bang on, MvG goes straight to his opponent after every losing effort and gives them a handshake, says well done, waves at the crowd and walks off. Can't ask for much more.

The arrogance claims can come from things he sometimes says in interviews like when he has dismissed Gurney and Wright in the last year or two.

Maybe with so many interviews and such inevitable repetition it can be hard to stick to being diplomatic all the time!

I don't know if he checks the stats instantly after a game but he is very good at assessing whether he played below average or his opponent played above average in interview immediately after a defeat.

Who do you fancy? He's playing the best darts over the last month. Easier draw. A final will do me because it's each way but I'd love for him to do it as a fan.

I'd have said Mensur to be honest, shows how much I know!

Draw has opened up big time now, makes things interesting as I could see several winning it from here.
