    Hoiberg fired by the Bulls.

Surprised he's lasted this long to be honest.....I had him as my first coach to be first last season, though more for how bad Chicago are as an organisation than for any lack of ability on his part. I feel sorry for him - inherited a weird roster with bad internal team chemistry and a team who loved their former coach so authority was kinda undermined/players didn't like him from Day 1. Always had that vibe that they players didn't play for him though. He's a pace and space coach, the front office post-Thibs committed to getting younger and faster.....and then sign Rondo and Wade. Then you had the Butler trade, and finally when it looks like he'll get a shot at pace and space this year Markinnen goes down injured and after one game back, they fire him. Classic GarPax idiocy.

The truth however is we probably don't know if he's a good NBA coach or not given everything that happened in Chicago.

Only GarPax could think to fire a coach who is doing them a favour by losing by having them in with a great shot at the #1 pick, a quarter of the way through the season :pac:

Everyone knew this season was a right off anyway. Get through it with a very high pick, make your coaching change prior to the draft, hopefully draft a stud and go from there.

The Bulls will probably start winning a bit and knock themselves way down the lottery now.

This sums up most of my thinking on it. Those two clowns in the front office have to go, why can't we have clever execs like Ujiri or RC Buford :(

Anyone else here buy the NBA LeaguePass through India? Best thing I ever did, used follow NBA for years but got sick of not being able to watch it, 12 quid I've every game.

Presumably you also need a VPN to give you an Indian IP every time you want to use it?

Haven't gone down the Indian Sub + VPN Route.

Quick question - if I were to do so, can I watch on my TV or is it only on computer you can do this?

I can cast to my nvidia shield, or connect directly to my tele through my phone. Both works fine. All depends on your tele really.

I have a VPN anyway, but even a free one would work fine, as u just need to turn it on before u open the app. It works fine when u turn off the vpn then, even switching between games

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,235 ✭✭✭Dave147

For the sake of about 20 seconds of turning on your vpn it's worth it. Tunnelbear is free, connects to India and you can disconnect in your nav bar so you don't need to leave the app. I chromecast it and it's excellent quality. I couldn't justify 200 quid for it as it's on so late, 12 euro is probably too cheap and I'd pay 60-70, but wasn't turning down the opportunity to get it for 12.

Houston lose badly again, this time to the Jazz without Gobert. They have Harden, Paul and Cappella all playing so they have no excuses, but a lot of problems. I'd expect some major trade activity from them in the next few weeks and up to the All Star Break. That Chris Paul contract didn't look great at the time and it looks really bad now.

A stat I picked up from The Lowe Post - prior to this season in over 1700 NBA games with Pop as the Head Coach of the Spurs, San Antonio lost by 30 or more points just 5 times. They've lost 3 of their last 4 by over 30.

Bucks trade Delly and Henson AND picks for George Hill in a salary dump trade. Dekkard to Washington makes up the rest of the trade.

Looks like a serious overpay unless they’re going to make a move - I just hope for them it’s this season and not next. Houston is a classic case of how small the window can be.

He’s phenomenal - the difference between the Mavs when he was on the court vs off was huge.

    Doncic? Told ya! ;)

I said pre-draft that anyone who passed on him would regret it and I think that will be proven to be true.

Heard on a some pod last week that only two players 20 or under in league history have his Pts-Reb-Ast numbers - LeBron and Magic. That's pretty elite company.

Lakers trying to get Ariza immediately the 15th (when he's eligible to be traded). Very strange that the Suns seem so keen to help the Lakers when they suck so much. First Chandler, now this. Sure give them Booker too while you're at it......

There are at least 8 teams trying to get him, Lakers just make the headlines because they're the Lakers.

First Kyrie the Flat Earther, now Steph is talking about how he believes the moon landing never happened. Next we'll have Westbrook talking about the JFK assassination being a hoax.

After 2 years of watching NBA and not supporting a team I'm gonna settle with the Thunder

Oh yeah for sure, but there’s also the LeBron James and James Jones connection, so of course people will talk. He could easily end up back at the Rockets too.

Watched a very funny Stephen A. interview with Rick Carlisle earlier after the Doncic close out v Houston. Stephen A. is up to the usual Stephen A. nonsense, but the comments are just hilarious. Would link but on mobile, worth looking for. ;)

Reading and listening to pods about the Chicago fun and games since Boylen was appointed Head Coach - WTAF is going on there? Hoiberg must be p*ssing himself laughing at the shlt show that it’s been since he left. Boylen must think he’s coaching under 15s if he thinks this stuff is going to work. He apparently has full head office support and contract for this and next season but if he keeps this up he’ll be gone as the players have too much power in the modern game. Just when you think things couldn’t be any worse in Chicago, GarPax prove you wrong.

    Lance.....

Lonzo.....I really think there's still huge potential here as a passer/playmaker. The execution was poor there but nothing wrong with the idea of the pass. What bothers me is he had a clear path to the basket and should be taking the lay up there even if it would be contested. I've seen him do this more than once now. It's great guys look to pass first, but you have to take the gimmes.

Nope, I missed that. Shocking at that level but it happens to better players than him to be fair.

He had a play on Shaqtin' recently where with no defender between him and the basket he passed backwards to Tyson Chandler who fumbled it (maybe a bit harsh on Chandler but between them they messed it up). Now that's ok if you're setting a guy up for a dunk etc. - but this wasn't one of those plays.

It's not easy play with LeBron though in any position, but his especially. LeBron is taking away an awful lot of Lonzo's touches and impacting his development.

Clippers fishing for a big star apparently they have had an employee at 75 percent of raptors games this season.I wonder would Kawhi go there or would he look for a bigger market.

There is no bigger market than LA. Not even NY.

The Clippers have brought Lee Jenkins from SI on board, they're doing a lot of work at community level in LA to build the brand, Kawhi is from Cali, there's a lot of superstars who don't want to play with or be second fiddle to LeBron, they have an ambitious (maybe crazy!) owner, they'll have two max slots available next summer and they're aiming for the stars.....I could see them landing Kawhi or KD, maybe even both tbh. I wouldn't rule anything out with them going forward.

another good win for the Celtics, with both Kyrie and Wall excellent , especially the last quarter. The Celtics definitely look better IMO with Smart and Morris in the starting lineup. I know it was not the most difficult run of games :pac: , but they still had to be won. Seven in a row now, with Atlanta at home next.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,235 ✭✭✭Dave147

Great win, Kyrie has some bottle to hit those two big threes in OT, great game, the missus killed me for being up till 2.30, Celtics winning in OT didn't mean much to her though. Marcus Morris is a great player, those rebound flicks in are sick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Looks like they're finding a rhythm and allowing Hayward to continue to ease back in. Long way to go though, they've had a very easy stretch....but you'll take it as a fan.

West is wild. A few weeks ago Portland were the #1 seed, now they're out of the Play Off Bracket. An injury or a couple of wins/losses back to back will see major movement in that conference.

Was up until 1am watching it and was then too amped up to get to sleep. Throwback to my NBA watching days when I was in Ireland.

Have to say it was very sweet watching the warriors fans streaming out the arena with 5 and a half minutes left.

And it was without Kawhi, and it was a back to back!

Still think we need one more 3 point shooter who we can rely on, CJ Miles just hasn't found it this season

Yeah, I'd agree. A bit more strength with the 3 coming off the bench, although I wouldnt be surprised if they dipped into the transfer market before the playoffs.
Last night was a huge statement though. I know they beat them a few weeks ago at home but Warriors were missing Steph and Green. And to do it on the back of beating the clippers..unreal. Would leave to see them steamroll the next two and take a clean sweep of the western tour.

Huge win for Toronto last night, esp. psychologically.

My fear for them is they're this good in December.......

I'm watching it here now, recorded it on skysports mix last night. First game I've seen for a long time. Why so many empty seats for Lakers v Rockets game. Also, are James Harden and Childish Gambino the same person?

Wizards - Memphis - Suns trade falls apart because some people don’t know the difference between between Marshon and Dillon Brooks. Ariza and Oubre also involved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Suns trade Ariza to the Wizards for Oubre AND Rivers. Talk about overpaying....for a guy you already had but let go and is way older than the two guys you let go. And Ariza is a free agent in June.

I know they couldn't afford to keep Oubre long term but why let him go like that? Bonkers trade. It's so dumb on so many levels I don't know where to start.

A good read. He was criticised heavily on a couple of pods for these comments over the weekend too....and rightly so.

Derrick Jones Jr. with another Play of the Night putback in traffic dunk. I know he disappointed when he was in the Dunk Contest but he can leap. His dunk v the Hornets earlier this year is up there for me as dunk of the year so far and he had some crazy dunks in Summer League too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Was going to mention this yesterday but didn’t.....2 nights ago the Nets had 8 players in double figures (and another with 8pts). That’s pretty rare. The record is 10 and it’s only happened 6 times. Last night the Wolves has 9 players in double figures and another on 9! Strange these were on consecutive nights. The 10 players in double figures was mentioned in open floor as a challenge to the warriors when they off to the flying start they are on before Curry got injured and brought them back to earth.

Also the LeBron and Lonzo teammate triple double was impressive in fairness. Another rare stat line (6th in history). In fairness to Lonzo he looks like he put a lot of work in at the gym this year. He’s ripped.

Having Austin traded once this year was bad enough; now this, and with more to come? Why do the Gods mock me like this? :pac: At least I have his Clippers tribute video to console me.

To think that guy gets over 12m a year. He should have been out of the league years ago. A complete joke. There’s many better pros playing in China - unfortunately for them none of them have a dad who’s a head coach in the NBA.
