Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hello all,

Thanks for the interest in 8Radio! Very excited to be going back on FM this weekend.

There's a lot of tech stuff to get through to get us firing in 4 cities while also running our usual programmes live on the internet so excuse scratchiness or limited music loops while we get the tech bits done. Will sound like regular 8Radio.com (whether that's a good or a bad thing depends on your perspective!) by the time midnight on Friday night rolls around.

Going to be on every Saturday, Sunday and Monday from now until and including the June Bank Holiday weekend in four cities. Would love to be in even more places but as has been pointed out elsewhere, we're limited by budget. Doing FM is great but expensive. We'll add more locations as time and budget allows.

    Dublin 105.2FM
    Cork 106.7FM
    Limerick 105.5FM
    Galway 87.7FM

You can also knock down to our Orange shop on Camden Row and we'll play you a tune. Music submissions as always are welcome to music AT 8Radio DOT com

Great to have some additional choice, good luck with the next run. On the technical side, the modulation % of the audio on 105.2 is running a little high (regularly peaking over 130%).

Really enjoyed them back on FM again. Great to hear quality music on the airwaves again. Made car journeys a lot better and stopped all the station hopping I usually do. Back to the app again.

Pass this "station" everyday going to catch the bus to work - always wondered what they were about.
Always thought they were just online tho

Has anyone noticed how much louder the mic and stings are compared to the music? I've long noticed it but never bothered to comment before, but it's really annoying me lately. The mic sounds extremely bass-y too, almost muffled.

it's particularly annoying when you're listening to a mellow songs and then it suddenly it's 8RADIO DOT COM PLAYING THE MUSIC WE LIKE

have to wait till october for more fm broadcasts....seems like an age away...:(

I've not been listening to this station long, I think just over a month, but beginning to feel a little sick when I hear some songs come on, it reminds me of the job I had years ago where they listened to Atlantic252 and I was convinced that they only had 14 songs in their playlist.

They are back on FM from June 15th to July 14th at the weekends in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway! Not in the north west though, why is that, would love to hear it in the car! Come on Simon, look into it for the future?

Enjoyed listening to this at work all weekend. Such a welcome change to have quality music all day and night on FM. They deserve a licence. For such small population there's so many radio stations in Ireland and 99.9% of them are all playing the same awful ****e. Music fans deserve an alternative station on FM.

Not if the BAI have anything to do with it.....its not about what listeners deserve..its what they decide we deserve...;)

I'm late to the 8Radio party, just discovered them a couple of days ago (thanks to this thread)!

Sounds like a test transmission at the moment, without any adverts or guests which is nice, but I guess that will have to change at some point in order to generate revenue.

Nowadays I listen to all radio broadcasts exclusively on internet based devices, whether it be at home on my Roberts 93i (with 40 presets), or via my smart phone app in the car (plugged into the stereo).

What's available on FM or AM doesn't concern me anymore :)

I hope 8Radio takes off and finds its niche in the great big radio jungle, currently I am impressed with their choice of music (I'm in my 50s) so It's doing alright so far....as long as it's not too much predictable 80s chart 'musac' which seems to be rampant on many other Irish radio stations, then it should be fine.

As a radio buff, I wish it well.

I just thought I should mention Anne-Marie Walsh, who is playing a great selection of music this evening. She even played my request: Monster by The Automatic! She is one of the many unsung heroes of this station. No relation, by the way!

I loved that Monster song as an 11 or 12 year old.

It's a sickening feeling, getting into the car on a Monday morning, having left the radio on 105.2 the night before.

Apparently, former Phantom FM presenter Jack Hyland has cropped up on 8Radio recently. I heard him on Radio Nova yesterday afternoon.

I was listening on FM on Sunday afternoon heading from Dundalk to Dublin. The female presenter volume was very low compared to the music and sounded like she was far away from the Mike with no bass. It seemed quite bad from my point of view. The music choice was brilliant and the presenter herself seemed good, although the filler content could need some work, like an ad saying download our app, listen on FM, followed by a presenter repeating same information. I understand they have a limited window of time each weekend to try drive listeners to their online offering, However a bit more chat about the music, presenters coming up, the start and finish dates of airtime, etc. If they cannot get the presenter audio sorted, possibly due to presenters working from home, they should prerecord their slots and insert them. While I don't like prerecorded presenters on radio, it allows the content to be checked and improved and less random rambling etc.

I hope to listed on FM all this weekend and I must add this to my internet radio favourites. I had the app on my phone but I tend to mostly listen in the car.

One of the great things about 8Radio.com is the way it gives new talent a chance. Other than those who came through Phantom/TX FM, there are a lot of presenters I had never heard of before 8Radio.com. I gather that they would have come through a combination of community stations, college stations and the music business. It is great experience for some who may want to pursue a fulltime career in broadcasting. One thing that all the presenters of the station have in common, regardless of their previous experience, is their enthusiasm and passion for the music they play. That's great to hear.

Unfortunately, there’s very little opportunity in the commercial radio sector. If you do manage to get a gig, it will only be a matter of time before the joy is sucked out of it when you're reduced to pre scripted links and inane banter. Better off staying with 8Radio and similar stations where you can at least put your talents to good use.
