Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am living in Australia ... I own a campervan in Ireland and I wish to sell it ... I have had the CVRT complete ( passed with flying colours ) and I thought I would insure it to sell . No broker wants to deal with me due to living out of Ireland ( I am Irish !)

Can I sell without insurance ; does anybody know or can anyone help ?Thanks !

Wouldn’t prospective buyers need to bring it for test drive; it’s not taxed or insured??

Iff this is a self conversion rather than a CV bought as a CV, then documentation is needed to make sure it is compliant with the necessary regs such as gas etc

Friend of mine selling in Strokestown Co Roscommon ... will be on Donedeal by weekend asking 25K
Nissan Primastar Hi-Roof New Build 2006
This is an officially registered camper on the log book.

    CVRT recent 31.03.21
    External plug in power inlet
230v mains and a 12v DC (leisure battery).
€110 for annual road tax and €300 to insure. ( that's what it had cost me !)
4 berth fully belted (5 safety belts)
    2 X Hob Gas Cooker
Sink with running water ( Water Pump )
    Fridge
    Bluetooth radio
    Practical cupboard layout
    Forward overhead storage compartment
Fold down safety belted (2) rear seats – folds down to double bed with comfortable mattreses)
Sleep 2 upstairs ( double deck conversion feature with fitted safety boards)
Side table ( fold away )
    Split Charge Relay Auxilary Battery
    B licence sufficient.
    Rear storage compartment
Rear Power Panel ( controls lighting, water pump , leisure battery and power outlets )
Rear USB power Points and speakers
Fire & smoke safety kit – FIRE EXTINGUISHER IS OUT OF DATE !
    Interior overhead individual roof lighting
    Storage compartment beneath rear seats
Black Out Drapes ( full privacy in camper cabin )
    Skylight
    Side sliding door
2 x large butterfly doors ( secured fully or half open)
Night heater ( powered externally – would not last overnight on leisure battery )
    Towbar with electrical socket

CATCH YOUR NEXT WAVE ! Check out the Decals.
    FUNKIEST CAMPERVAN IN IRELAND !!
Takes up only one normal carpark space !! (don’t underestimate the value of this factor)
Compare the market ! Nothing like this one when you weigh up all factors …it’s got the lot … running like a dream . Year of manufacture + KMS to date + mechanical soundness + campervan accessories + funk = value for money!
REMEMBER: mine is a 4 BERTH … not a 2 BERTH !! .. AND …the Layout is superior ! Can lay beside your lover (double bed set up) not across from !!
Stick an awning on the side .. I almost did but I left the country!
Will throw in all cutlery / kettles / pots pans / deck chairs etc …. And the Porta Potti !
Nothing to do just drive away ..one cooking ring/hob needs blow out !
Bluetooth radio - NOTE : I upgraded the original radio – this negates the volume controls on the steering column !
Wouldn’t be selling except I am overseas and not returning to Ireland in the near future !

How did you arrive at the asking price?
Before the camper boom, this looks to me to have been a €5-6k van, maybe €8-9 now with the way vans have gone.
I’m not having a go, and I hope you get it sold - but I think €25k is off the scale for it.

You’re up against the likes of this vw T5 pop-top, which is way way up at the top end of the small camper price scale because they’re so sought after, and because the roof folds - and it’s still €5k less than what you’re asking

I concur 100%: especially when you see "...And the Porta Potti ! ":D

Anyway once the country opens up in July, the market will begin to soften, especially in Europe where good value will be got by year end

I'd love it, but I'd need to sell a kidney or 2 1st!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,644 ✭✭✭✭punisher5112

Way way overpriced for a 2006 standard van, the pictures are terrible, none of inside or close up. I get you fitted it somewhat out but still that's some serious money.

If are serious about a sale you will need to come down....

I near fell off my chair when I seen €25k....

I thought it was just me.

I'd be raising eyebrows at 15k.

I have to ask how could 4 sleep in that?¿?
    Me thinks:
Like my friend, in National school in '58 in rural , from a two bed cottage with 11 children, when the new priest in the parish asked him: where does your daddy sleep?:
    "On top of my mammy"

Price could be optimistic but best of luck with the sale!

If it sells for more than half the asking, I'm selling mine asap

    Twenty five thousand.

    Really?

    Lol. Get out of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,940 ✭✭✭✭banie01

I had hoped the seller meant $25000AUD...
But, even at that it's hugely overpriced.
I know there's a squeeze on campers at the moment, but paying anywhere near 15k, let alone 25k for that can???

Well, all I'll say is GLWS.

So you spent what, 2.5k on a van and another 3k turning it into a low to mid range conversion. And now you want 25k for it. You've probably heard about the rise in prices here now and said you'd cash in on your greed.

    You've some f'n neck.

Boards , carpeted , covered and comfortable ( that are stored in the front overhead compartment ) slide into grooves from front to rear of campervan and sturdy enough to fit 2 100kg people above the slide out bed beneath ... effectively a double deck set up ) slept "upstairs" myself at a few concerts now !

Thats not even a nice looking conversion, the standard of workmanship is shoddy. Look at the state of the window, the wood above it, the dings in the furniture, the stains on the seats. Its laughable that you think you will get €25k for it, I wouldn't even give you €10k and believe me when I say I know a lot about them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,644 ✭✭✭✭punisher5112

    Insane price

  • Registered Users Posts: 29 Aussie John

I don't think I will get 25K for it ! When in the history of asking prices did anyone ever get what they asked for anything? Well maybe Celtic Tiger times ... MAYBE this is Celtic Campervan times ??

Why are there so many angry people in Ireland ?

If you think the price is outrageous well you might be right ! I live in Australia ; have done since 1995 ... I bought the campervan 6 years ago ; I have loved every moment I have used it .. Apart from Covid times I come HOME to Ireland every year from Australia . Maybe I have misjudged the asking price !!?? I have left the selling of the campervan to a friend of mine ; it's at his discretion what the selling price might be . I am not stuck for money .. Bid him if you like it ... The workmanship is NOT shoddy ! ( I do take exception to that )

If the asking price is making so many people angry then may I suggest you don't look at it ! Smell a flower ; hug a Teddy Bear , kiss your partner . Do something that makes you happy .. but it's hardly worthwhile shouting at the price of a campervan !

    That's just my opinion !

A lot of words that mean nothing. The price is absolutely comical, literally a joke. Put it up for €10k and hope you get a bite by some desperado who has no clue what they're buying.

Spare us the fabricated waffle about Australia and so on, you look at DoneDeal/Adverts and know exactly what the prices are. You are not fooling anyone buster.
