Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fair play if someone in here got it.
    They got a bargain.

Delighted if that's the case. Think that's my good deed of the week there.

Wait, wasn't there someone here recently in the wanted thread/ioniq thread/some EV thread wanting an ioniq? Totally forgot about them until now.

I think I saw that silver Ioniq and dismissed it as suspiciously cheap.

18 to 21 k seems to be where 2017 Ioniqs are at these days.

Mind you I tend to be weary of stuff from dealers I don't know about.

I tend to pay attention to stuff from people like Phil Fitzgerald or from long enough established main dealers.

Feeling inclined to buy into a Zoe Ze50 with CCS when my birthday comes around in Sept.

Edit - for context Ioniq and Zoe are on my shortlist to buy. Still not sure what mileage to jump into the Ioniq bandwagon at.

So was it anyone here that got it? Or even viewed it?

No way a 2017 Ioniq will make €21k.
Ioniqs have dropped a lot in value, now that there's far more competition & accessible, longer range cars, like the ID.3, Peugeots etc. 2nd hand 64kWh Konas are appearing, near enough €30k too.

    https://www.electricautos.ie/vehicles/hyundai/ioniq/kildare/2697310

€18k from a reputable dealer so a non metallic 2017, in a private sale I reckon is worth €16/17k these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,017 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Jez, the Ioniq doesn't look a pretty car in that advert.
Its like something from 10 or 15 years ago.

All cars depreciate. Retaining 70% of it's value after almost 4 years is exceptionally good for a family car though. No other similar size car in the market depreciates this little.

Bought mine brand new for just over 25k, sold 3 years later for just under 20k

25k is the exception, rather than the rule of what the selling price was. More like 60% of their value now after 3-4 years

Mine was near 80% after 3 years. But even at 60% after 4 years, that is really good. I'd say the Ioniq is the lowest depreciating family size budget car of them all.

We'll see what 2021 does to them in a couple of months. Depreciation should slow down on them now.

In fairness pretty much all EVs have low depreciation compared to similar petrol / diesel cars. Even overpriced ones like the €39k Kona. Took a big hit of about €9k depreciation in the first year, but should really slow down now with no more than about €3-4k per year for the next few years

€ 45,342 for a 2020 Model 3. That a discount of €1,440 for anyone who likes chrome and doesn't like heat pumps.

They also have 2 * Model 3 Performance for €64k and €65k. That's pretty decent value for a BMW M3 beating car, which costs many tens of thousands more to buy and many, many thousands more per year to run and maintain

Nah. Not standard until some time in 2019 iirc. The hardware is there though and Tesla Sandyford have confirmed they can enable it for something like €2k + VAT (can't remember the exact figure)

We don't know for sure, but if the ad doesn't specifically say it has auto pilot and it is enabled, it's fairly safe to say it doesn't have it :p

Right, so for the good of the argument and in case it can help a prospective buyer on here, I contacted the seller and he confirmed the car DOES have autopilot and it is enabled :p

Why on earth did he not include it in the ad?

Isn't autopilot disabled when you sell the car? Or is that FSD?

What motorway range would you expect on it, say in winter on a cold windy day. Would it do Galway to Dublin without having to stop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,017 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

    Question for you Tesla owners.

I often see AP mentioned, which I assume is the option of letting the car drive itself? It seems to be mentioned a lot as a bonus to have.

Wondering do any of you actually use it, rather than driving the car yourself?

AP is basically adaptive cruise control with lane keeping. It's handy on motorways but many cars these days do that. It's a nice feature.

    What car? The 75D?

From where in Dublin to where in Galway?
    What’s the distance etc?

I doubt my 85 would do that trip so the smaller 75 should struggle?

Sorry, I was wondering about that 75D. From one end of the M6 to the other essentially. 214KM. Driving at the speed limit.

My 2015 Model S85 would do that with guts of 100kms to spare, I did Athlone-Dromoland return earlier this year at speed limit no bother and that's 262kms door to door

Same here. 2014 P85 85kWh and did Dublin to near Spiddal (west of Galway) with about 35% to spare. 5 of us in the car, luggage, dog. I always drive at at least the speed limit when safe to do so. Even in winter you should be fine. Newer S75 D has similar range.

My S90D would do that 214km and get back to Ionity Athlone I'd say.
The S75D was a great car for range and efficiency. The only real downfall it had was the lower pack voltage, so it charged slower at non Tesla DC sites

I done about 190km at above speed limit speeds when I bought mine in June. Empty roads, about 9pm at night.
I estimated there was about 50-60km left in the tab based on that trip at that speed.

If I dropped to the posted speed limit then no problem I’d imagine.

Only when it's sold back to Tesla. They may disable/enable Autopilot/FSD depending on what suites them.

If you look at ABRP I think you will find that Tesla is very efficient at high speed, AFAIR dropping from 120kms/hr to 1100km's hour for that long trip I did only improved range by 2%.
In other words if you are in a Tesla and on the motorway it's speed limit all the way, no (range/efficiency) reason to drive slower (safety etc aside)

I've only heard of them getting rid of free supercharging/premium connectivity, never heard AP/FSD being disabled across this/UK/US forums, never

    Yes

My 2016 S was sold with free lifetime supercharging in 2016. When I bought it from Tesla last year as CPO, the free Supercharging was removed (and I knew this before buying)

They do the same thing for premium connectivity and FSD now.

I find there is an increase in consumption noticeable dropping from 120 to 100 or lower only. So, unless I'm really stretching it for range, I just drive at the posted speed limits.

No I knew about the SuC and Connectivity, I specifically replied to the removal of FSD. I heard the rumours but haven’t heard of it actually

One of very very few ENiros 2nd hand, and a bargain in my eyes. Cheaper than what a boardsie got as a trade in recently.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/kia-niro-e-lr-5dr-auto-fully-electric/26626110

    192, white, 64kWh battery, €32k.

The freaky part! It's Mooneys! They love overpricing Ioniqs, yet this niro is cheap

Bit of a bargain from them! Perhaps they are pricing it at what they reckon a similar Kona is worth, but the eNiro is holding its value better as it just is a better car for similar money when new

    Next cheapest eNiro is €35k (but it's a 2020)

33k was the trade in value I heard, for a 192, about 3 months ago. Few k profit for the dealer and you're at 35k. Local dealer here wanted 38k (before any negotiating) for a 192, saying they're over 40 new. Ignoring that in 2019 they were 38k new.

Anyone looking for a Niro, grab it.
