    The Nitrane in_mp3.dll decoder hasn't been used since v2.65

    The new Fraunhofer based decoder has been in Winamp since v2.666, and is the exact same codec that is used in Winamp 3. Therefore they sound exactly the same. If there is a difference in sound then it is more likely due to some other incompatibility.

    Oh, of course the other issue being that it's got Sonique syndrome - give skin designers an inch and they'll take a mile. They'll take all semblance of useful functionality, while they're at it.

    The base skin has the exact same interface as winamp 2.x. Also, it will be possible to use winamp 2.x skins on winamp 3, giving you the exact same functionality as you would have with Winamp2. At the end of the day, it's all a matter of personal taste.

    Tried 3. Thought it was crap.
    That medai browser or what ever the fluck it is is a waste of time.
    2.x does the job for e, I won't be changing fora while

    Those winamp 3 skins look NICE. Any idea when it's going to be finished? (I never use beta software for things like an mp3 player because the most important thing for me is that it doesn't crash every few minutes).

    In fairness, it is a work in progress; as I understand it, you can't even play CDs on it yet (though I could be wrong on that score).

    It looks pretty, hopefully it'll work as stably as Winamp 2.x when it is finally finished, and I believe it plays video now(?)

    You are right - the current method of playing CD's with Winamp3 requires a workaround, involving tweaking the CD Reader plugin for Winamp 2.x It might have CD support in the next beta though.

    Winamp3 uses the video codecs from Windows Media Player, so if it can play it Winamp should be able to play it too. Winamp2 had this capability too, albeit through the use of plugins.

    If you want purty skins like winamp3, get sonique.
    Actually, music on sonique always sounds better then in winamp as well.

    Can everyone stop posting HUGH screen shots and scale them down a bit so you only see winamp and not your whole desktop.

    My modem is going through coal pritty fast trying to load all the images :D

    Ive got far too many skins but I end up using theese the most , the XP went down a lain went down a storm on IRC , but you Phillisitines dont seem to get the destro skin :(

    Like slydice's girly threads, you know what youre getting into when you open the thread. Dont moan about image size when nobody is forcing you to view the thread:P
