Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just to add on some more info about the 142 - the Sports Centre terminus has now been closed, so it now starts/finshes at the UCD Village stops instead. Clontarf now also operate some duties as of a few weeks ago.

Question: why couldn't they just terminate it at the main UCD stop? Is it cos it gets very busy at rush hour?

Most likely the case yeah. The buses for the 142 even seem to park up in the now defunct "bus gate" outside the bus park before working the evening peak 142s that depart UCD.

This week we are going back twelve years to 2012 and to AX 484 on route 77X, passing through College Green.

Route 77X started in the mid-1990s as a CitySpeed route, running between Westbrook Lawns in Citywest, and the city centre (inbound in the morning and outbound in the evenings). From around 2001 some departures operated from Tallaght, others from Citywest, and the route was extended beyond the city centre to UCD Belfield. CitySpeed also became Xpresso around that time. In 2009 the route was reduced to one departure, operating in one direction only (from Citywest to UCD Belfield). The route remains the same today.

AX 484 was new to Dublin Bus in 2006. It was withdrawn in 2019 and sold on to another Irish operator.

This week we are going back thirty-three years to 1991 and to KD 362 parked on Eden Quay.

The bus is dressed for route 7. This route started running between the city centre and Dun Laoghaire in 1949. It was replaced by route 7A in 1951 but returned around 1980, this time running to Ballybrack. In 1988 it reached Loughlinstown Park, and in 2004 certain departures were extended to Cherrywood. In 2016 the two route variations were split, with the 7 operating between the city centre and Brides Glen Luas, and the 7A operating between the city centre and Loughlinstown Park.

KD 362 was new to CIE in 1983. It was one of the last Bombardier's to be withdrawn, lasting until around 1999/2000.

The bus is in an all-over ad for Smarties. It received this in late-1990 and carried it all through 1991. Prior to this ad, the bus carried an all-over ad for Johnson & Johnson.

This week we are going back eleven years to AX 471 on Adelaide Road with a service on route 15 to Ballycullen Road.

Route 15 started running between the city centre and Hazelbrook Road in 1948. it ceased to operate in 1964, but returned in 1988, running to Scholarstown Road. In 2011 it was merged with route 128 under Network Direct, becoming a cross-city route from Clongriffin to Stocking Avenue. In 2012 the terminus was moved from Stocking Avenue to Ballycullen Road.

AX 471 was new to Dublin Bus in 2006. It was withdrawn in 2019 and sold on to another operator.

Adelaide Road used to be a busy road for bus routes, such as the 14, 15, 15A, 15B, 44, 61, 140 and 142. In January 2015 these routes (except the 44 and 61) were diverted away from Adelaide Road, going via Dame Street and George's Street instead.
