Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

no siree. and i think i'll have to quit the stuff after just 2 days back on it, because its 1 pm and im craving wine (and i HATE wine)
*dont try this at home kids*

anyway. i have to ring the nitelink people and complain for leaving 3 minutes early. and have a blister thanks to them from running for an uncatchable bus.

*and here's the part where i link my off topic rambling with the actual topic*

    uncatchable

    (smooth......)

    is uncatchable even a word?

    whiplash, fandango, garble

onomatopoeia, first part is Greek - onoma, onomata = name. Don't recognise the last part but searching dictionary.com it suggests poiein = to make, I presume this must be ancient Greek. So the name of the word suggests "to create a name". Ah, I just understood why they used that name for the name. I guess if this was a new word and hadn't been created yet it would be called "makename".

Dictionary.com gives a good note "It has been maintained by some philologist that all primary words, especially names, were formed by imitation of natural sounds."

I wonder if that applies to baby talk.

My suggestion for wotd - babble.
